Canyonlands Basecamp — A Quiet Backcountry Camping Retreat Escape the crowds and settle into wide-open space at Canyonlands Basecamp — a peaceful RV and overland camping retreat just minutes from Monticello, Utah. Located at the edge of the Abajo Mountains and bordering the Manti–La Sal National Forest, our property offers something increasingly hard to find near Canyonlands: quiet, space, and dark skies. This is not a packed RV park. Pull straight in, level up, and settle beneath wide high-desert skies at 7,400 feet elevation. Located just inside the retreat entrance, this campsite provides simple access while still maintaining the intentional spacing and open feel of true backcountry camping. No tight rows. No parking-lot layout. Just room to breathe among piñon and juniper. Ideal for: • Larger self-contained RVs • Late arrivals • One-night stopovers • Guests staying multiple nights while exploring the area • Campers who prefer not to back in You’re just 2 miles (about 5 minutes) from Monticello’s restaurants and Blue Mountain Foods grocery, yet once parked, the setting feels quiet and removed.
