The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses.The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. One of the valleys last original stone homes dating back to 1845. We have been restoring the buildings made from the stone. The main house which is not yet finished has beautiful etched glass windows of the cattle drives.
James Hinds the homesteader and original owner of the ranch created the ware and hinds ditch which supplies our abundant Valley water. He was a prominent attorney and got our water rights given to us forever from President Harrison.
Currently, the ranch is running on an open range policy. Livestock is not fenced in, so please be cautious and understand that you are camping at your own risk. Please do not feed the animals (even though they are friendly they can get rambunctious) and keep all dogs on leash at ALL times.
It includes water that extends to the middle of the Colorado River and the one mile of our shoreline. Everyday that we live here we give thanks for his wisdom and foresight. There is little else in the area except for the next door Holy Cross Wilderness, with a lifetime worth of trails, lakes, and peaks to explore -- all accessed from a trailhead only two plus hours from Denver. Gondola Village at Holy Cross has direct access that many only dream of to Colorado's water wilderness, and some of the best backcountry skiing, hiking, scrambling, backpacking, and fly fishing in the Vail / Eagle County / Leadville / Aspen area.
Our modern alpine cabins (Alpine Gondola Lodge and Lost Gondola Lodge) are some of the cutest cabins you've seen, complete with a mix of amenities (think Coleman stove, Miir mugs, Rumpl blankets, Goal Zero Yeti, Metolius couch, a guitar, Dometic cooler, Sea to Summit shower, and more) to make your wilderness stay a bit more comfortable. Don’t forget your camera, and a good book (or read one from our large library while you’re up here).
Gondola Village at Holy Cross is at almost 12,000 feet above sea level (believed to be one of the highest altitude Hipcamps in the world). Gondola Village at Holy Cross has been featured on Discovery Channel’s Reclaimed, Airbnb's OMG! Fund, Arch Digest, numerous other publications and brand product shoots. The managers of this property have worked in modular construction (cabins, yurts, and homes) and hospitality for many years and have brought together some of the best Scandinavian and modern mountain design with a mining town aesthetic. With such challenging access (larger items can only come in via helicopter), each piece of furniture and amenity is carefully chosen.
The trip up can be challenging (only off-road, winch / locker equipped vehicles dare try the 759 Holy Cross City jeep road, others will need to hike in at least 2.5 miles), but the views and cabins are well worth the trek. For successful navigation without reliable cell service, a map app like onX is recommended. Snow free season tends to be June 15 an October 30 annually, and outside of this guests should be prepared for up to 11 miles of over-snow travel with no cars allowed (a bit less depending on snow coverage in the shoulder seasons from May 21 - early June and late October - November 21).

The entrance is right off of highway 135, 8 miles north of Gunnison. Come down the driveway and take a right into the field. The tent is nestled against the cottonwoods far enough away from the main house for complete privacy.
Relax on the property or use it as your adventure base camp. Less than a mile from Gunnison river access, National Forest access in hunting units 54 and 55. Not far from units 66 and 67. Almont is a 2 minute drive, Gunnison is about 10 minutes away and Crested Butte is about 20 minutes from the property.
The queen size bed will be made (additional cots can be added with advance notice) and the kitchen has a two burner propane camp stove, tea pot, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, mugs, and utensils. It is stocked with drinking water, oil, S&P, coffee, tea, marshmallows and fresh eggs from our chickens will be provided daily.
The tent is equipped with a wood burning stove and stocked with firewood. Additional firewood can be purchased. Kindling and fire starters are also available at no charge- let us do the hard work - you RELAX! Electricity is provided, so you can charge your phone or whatever else you need.
Enjoy your private fire pit, chill in the rocking camping chairs, or walk across the field to the main house and enjoy the hot tub on the deck. You may spot our horse "Sassy" or some of our chickens roaming around.

Formerly known as the North Fork Tipi Haven, this 22 acres is now home to Old Moon Acres Tipi Haven. This property offers spectacular views, a large grass field for activities and games, a short hike up Mandala Mountain (behind the solar panels), and relaxion by Love Gulch in the many hammocks. Two mile drive from Big B's and even closer to the nearest winery (Storm Cellar). Tipi camping offers an authentic camping experience, complete with possible bugs and other critters one would expect to find in nature.

My family adored the Aspen Yurt. We had to change camping plans last minute due to an injury, and once we found this location, we were sold. Our vacation was not canceled, just happily adapted. Aspen Yurt was everything we wanted, and it was so beautiful. Roomy enough for a grown family of 4. The outdoor freshwater tub was a hit, along with the beautiful outdoor shower. Great memories were made.

Beautiful camp that truly has it all! We spent 4th of July weekend camping on Joyce’s land and it was incredible. Each site has their own dedicated river access. Joyce is incredibly responsive, and we couldn’t have asked for a better camping weekend get away.

Beautiful yurt with a great porch and great view! The solar setup worked perfectly for running the small mini fridge and charging devices. Kitchen was well-appointed, bed was comfortable. Highly recommended!

Awesome spot in an aspen grove on a ranch near Buena Vista. Belinda and Todd were welcoming and helpful. Short walk to the river, and we enjoyed the cows close by. Bathrooms and the shower were clean!

Incredible stay at the Juniper yurt! The view is surreal, drive to town is short, and the gas stove at night made it a perfect stay with our 9 month old. The bed is comfortable, and our baby loved rolling around on a blanket in the grassy area outside. We will absolutely be back. Ginger is a great host and made the whole experience seamless!

Weekend Trip to Gondola Village at Holy Cross
Amazing location and great host. We saw epic views and got to explore around alpine lakes and streams. It was a great backpacking experience without needing to bring the tent/sleeping pads. We can’t wait to come back!

My family and I loved Stay’s property! The grounds were absolutely gorgeous. The cooking area has a beautiful creek and everything you need for a cookout. Multiple hammocks to choose from, a little tree bridge to cross the creek, and breathtaking views. So many deer came right up to us. They thought of everything! We had clean restrooms and warm showers. The yurt was such a cool experience and the extra fee for bedding gave us a fully made bed with extra blankets. We LOVED every moment. The downtown area has a great food options and we really enjoyed 476 Eatery for dinner. For breakfast we stopped by Paonia Bread Works and had the BEST coffee, sandwiches and pastries. The only bad part was that we could not stay longer due to our trip schedule. Thank you so much Stacy. You truly have a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing it with us.

This was a perfect peaceful spot to park our RV for the week. The hosts are wonderful and easy to communicate with, sharing their property with guests. We loved having the Colorado River right off of our doorstep for swimming and fishing. The hosts dogs Sage and Elon are super family friendly and a big highlight for my kids. Beautiful setting and easy access to Gypsum, Glenwood Springs and surrounding areas. We would recommend this spot to anyone!

This place is an oasis! Lush green clover lawn, beautiful beds of flowers, a pond, and fantastic views throughout the property. I come to this part of Colorado each summer, and this is my must stay location each time!

Stacy was great and her land is really special. vega is the bestest of dogs and we enjoyed our stay. Pro tip. There is less road noise in the tipis. Yurt was super comfortable though. The tree in the communal kitchen is one of the best trees I have ever met. It is truly magical.

This campground was an okay place to stay for a couple of nights, it had everything we needed and served as a convenient base for visiting Glenwood Hot Springs. If your main goal is to explore the area and enjoy the hot springs, it’s a practical option.

Loved the spacious canvas tent and beautiful area. Though there was another tent a couple hundred feet away, this one faced away from any other tents and felt nice and secluded. River access was perfect for the kids, and the gas fire during the fire ban was a nice touch.

We had such an amazing relaxing and fun time at the snow kist ranch. The directions were very easy to understand. We had a lot of space for our tent and car, it felt very private. We were also greeted by two adorable fun dogs who had such personalities. Being along the river was absolutely peaceful and fun. It was pretty hot out so we jumped in the river to cool down. The neighbors were nice and offered for us to use their kayaks. The cows were very cute and Nancy and Pa said we could go and pet them anytime we wanted to. We will absolutely come back to this place to stay for even longer.
