The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses.The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. Located along the West Elk Loop, a Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway, the large two-story residence features a steeply pitched hipped roof with prominent attic dormers.As a guest of Riverwalk you will have full access to the river during your stay. In addition, there is the Riverwalk Trail System that skirts the North Fork of the Gunnison River from the top of the property, by the Riverwalk Yurt, (available on this site) meandering downstream past the Riverwalk TIPI (available on the site) passing  the Grove Yurt (available on this site) and terminating at the bottom of the property with the sandy Riverwalk Beach. There is a trial that zigs through the Cottonwood Grove and zags back along the gentle Monitor Ditch skirting a newly planted grove of young trees.For RV Campers we provide 2- 30amp,1-50 amp and 1- 110-amp electrical services and potable water. There is a dump station available. One of the valleys last original stone homes dating back to 1845. We have been restoring the buildings made from the stone. The main house which is not yet finished has beautiful etched glass windows of the cattle drives. James Hinds the homesteader and original owner of the ranch created the ware and hinds ditch which supplies our abundant Valley water. He was a prominent attorney and got our water rights given to us forever from President Harrison. Currently, the ranch is running on an open range policy. Livestock is not fenced in, so please be cautious and understand that you are camping at your own risk. Please do not feed the animals (even though they are friendly they can get rambunctious) and keep all dogs on leash at ALL times. This Gorgeous 6 acre property has DIRECT PRIVATE ACCESS to Hardscrabble Mountain, The Holy Cross Wilderness and The White River National Forest. There are 24,000 acres of BLM public land and also The White River National Forest with over 3,500 square miles, both with thousands of miles of recreation trails for mountain biking, hiking, ATVing, MOTO X Dirtbiking, SidebySide UTVing, backcountry skiing and snowboarding, 4x4 Jeeping/Mudding, Jeep, Bronco, Land Rovers, OffRoad, Bike, Hike and snowmobiling. Walk out of your tent, your RV or my cabin and you are in BLM and The White River National Forest. Plenty of flat, shaded ground with water and electric available. The biggest shade trees in Eagle County, firepits, and a creek with pond and waterfall with sand beach await. Incredible views of Castle Peak, The Flat tops Wilderness, Red Canyon and Hardscrabble Mountain right from the Property. Vail and Beaver Creek Ski Resorts with the best skiing and powder in the world and Glenwood Springs with the world famous Hot Springs Pool and Glenwood Caverns Amusement Park ( amusement park on top of a mountain) and the Iron Mountain Hot Springs Each 25 minutes away. Aspen is a little over an hour away. Pets are welcome and can be off leash if they can respond to voice controls and owners are responsible for their pets at all times. Dogs love it here! All poop must be picked up, $35 per pet per night. GoPro Mountain Games, Eagle County Rodeo, Birds of Prey Downhill, Vail Farmers Market, Free Showdown Down Thursday Eagle, Gerald R. Ford Ampitheater, Free Hot Summer Nights Music Vail Eagle is the county seat of Eagle County and is known for the Eagle and Colorado River and the amazing system of biking and hiking trails.

This place worked out well for me truck camping. Beautiful access to a walking trail near this site and another one that circled a larger portion of the ranch. It was quiet and peaceful. Directions to the spot were easy to follow.

Incredible and well worth it! We loved this experience. 100% we would come back. Highly recommend the fall / yellow aspen season for the drive up through Mintern. The cabin had everything we needed. We brought our own water and food (backpacking meals) and sleeping bags, but if this was peak summer time, we would have settled with sleeping bag liners and used the ones provided in the cabin. Note that the shower is a bag shower so heating water via solar or on stove is required. We couldn’t get the lights to work so we plugged the light with a cord into the solar generator for our stay. We didn’t have service from after Mintern on, so we primarily used Gaia GPS maps and it worked great (download both hike and road maps). We had no issues driving up to the 727/759 junction by taking the Missouri lakes road (super well maintained) in a 2wd car. The hike up from the junction has some incline, so packing light is ideal. We made it up in about an 1.5 hours, but we were hustling to make it before sunset. In the morning, the hike to Cleveland lake was super fun and quick, and walking by the abandoned cabins on the way back at Holy Cross City was super cool. No wildlife seen besides some birds and pheasants. Lots of rain, but with good shoes we had no issues / slips.

Weekend Trip to Tater's Black Canyon Campground

I stayed at #3 and it was beautiful and comfortable. Nearby campsites are rather close, so you can expect to hear conversation and laughter. Not a big deal though, as other campers respected quiet hours. The bathrooms are excellent and make this campsite stand out! Thank you, Tater!!

A trip we will never forget! Beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings! The hike up was a burner with a ton of rocks/boulders - not for the faint of the heart especially with our 30lb backpacks 😅 (we are not seasoned and really wanted to make sure we had water!). My partner brought those oxyen canisters and that seemed to help with overall altitude (he can get headaches), even though we did hikes in Vail prior to our stay, our Minnesotan lungs still needed extra time to adjust. The hike down we saw a black bear, and that was cool to see from a comfortable distance, hah! Going to Cleveland Lake is absolutely worth it & gorgeous. Thanks to the host for taking such good care of the little cabin!

Nice secluded spot away from the state park crowd. Everything is intuitive and well marked They give you space to do your thing and don't do the whole meet and greet(which I prefer). The shower was nice to have before taking off. Solid spot!

The view is unbelievable! Some bad storms passed through while we were there but it didn’t take away from the experience. Loved having access to a hot shower and bathroom. Highly recommend this spot!
