Treat yourself to a quiet getaway for one at this cozy, clean and comfortable cabin on our rural farm, between two rivers, on Sherman Island. Located in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area at the confluence of the San Joaquin River, Sacramento River, and the eastern terminus of San Francisco Bay, Sherman Island is known for its wildlife, sunrises, and sunsets, and its dark sky for stargazing opportunities.
The property is surrounded by alfalfa fields, grazing cattle, sheep, and a wildland habitat populated with migratory and native birds, animals, and plants.
The one-room cabin has a bed and clawfoot bathtub with hot water offering a peaceful escape on our 5-acre tree-lined farm. Here you can listen to birdsong instead of the sounds of the city. This is an ideal cabin for birdwatchers, writers, plein air painters, nature photographers, stargazing, windsurfers/kiteboarders, meditation, or some stress-free, peaceful reset time.
The private cottage has a refrigerator, microwave, compostable dinnerware, drinking water, and a coffeemaker with coffee. It is air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter.
Pets are welcome and free to enjoy being off-leash in the cabin's fenced yard. The hosts raise free-range chickens and bees on their farm and also conduct a nonprofit rescue and hospice for senior pets.
The property is in the Pacific Migratory Flyway, surrounded by a 1000-acre
State habitat/preserve populated by wildlife and seasonal birds.

The price of camping includes the Ranch experiences of feeding the animals and collecting eggs. Our property is great for children! We have a trampoline, a tree house, a large livestock water trough that we use as a kiddie pool in summer, a great swing set, and room to play.
We live on a quiet 10 acre property with trees that provide some shade, and all of our sites are near the horse pastures. You might hear horses nickering and chickens clucking. There is lots of room to walk or run around. A Treehouse is available for kids to play in, a trampoline to jump on, plus we have a 17 foot high swing for kids and adults alike! You can walk the property to observe the horses, or sign up for a special horse, tractor, or welding experience.
Come camp in a very quiet and safe horse and farming area. We are near the end of a dead-end road. Our camping sites are somewhat private, some with more shade and others with more mid-day sun.
We specialize in "Horse Experiences" tailored to your level of comfort and needs. None of the horse experiences listed on our site require any prior experience with horses. We will make sure you are safe and comfortable while working with the horses.
*NOTE: Experiences are not available on Sundays (our sabbath day). We can fit them in on Saturday afternoon/evening for Saturday-night campers, or Monday morning for Sunday-night campers.
We have a private bathroom with flush toilet and sink.
Summertime brings hot days and (usually) cool nights to our area. It is not uncommon to experience 100 degree days in June, July and August. Most evenings cool down, thanks to the Delta Breeze, to around 60-70 degrees overnight. Wintertime brings cooler daytime temps (50-60 degrees) and colder night temps (30-40 degrees).
We are located about 10 minutes from the Galt area, which has a large variety of Fast-food, as well as several nicer restaurants. There is also a Wal-Mart (with groceries) and a nice Supermarket. We are about 6 miles from 2 country stores in Herald and Wilton (with gas station).
Sites accommodate up to 6 people, and you can add up to 2 more for an additional fee. If you need more than 8 people, then consider booking 2 or more sites.
With horses and the activities we do with them, dogs are not allowed.

We bought this 1 Acre property surrounded by crops in 2013. The original farm house was built in 1952. It was a local hang out for all the kids on this road, of which most still currently reside. Our journey started here with a simple little cute house surrounded by dirt... We have worked non stop to make it our home. We've added a shop, built a master suite and put in trees, gains and pool. also have a dog named Sara that loves people. Most campers that come are very happy to have her around. She is polite and good with children. Some of you may not like dogs, if that is the case this will not be a fun experience for you.

Our property is off the beaten path but close to it. We are in the wine country with popular wineries close by. We are near and easily accessible to Sonoma Raceway, highway 37, highway 116, highway 29 and the 101. Sonoma Golf Club is less than 5 minutes away. The Sonoma Plaza is less than 3 miles away.

We loved the experience on Alan’s huge farm, and my kids had a great time with the dogs. At night, the sounds of all kinds of animals create a natural symphony. My girls were a little scared of the dogs at first, but they ended up having great fun with them.
You may need to lower your expectations regarding the facilities, bathrooms, and dining area, but it’s well worth it to enjoy the nature and animals.
Alan is a great host. He is in his 80s, in very good shape, and reminds us of our grandpa.

What a groovy place to camp where you're not surrounded by people! My husband and I reserved Kimball Farm for 3 nights and it did not disappoint. The electric and water hooks ups were great with our 20 ft trailer and the views and sounds of farm life were magic. We super enjoyed our cellar and wine tasting experience as well - we will definitely stay again!

Weekend Trip to Delta Respite
I had a great time in the little cottage on Sherman Island. For being so close to the bay, it feels like you are in a different world. The cottage was cute and I could tell there had been a lot of attention paid to details. The bathtub was fabulous and after long walks out looking at birds, this was just the place I wanted to be.

An added bonus is that is was decorated so nicely for Valentine's weekend. She was so friendly and went above and beyond. It was such a relaxing and peaceful area. Peaceful setting and beautiful views. There is a $10 dump station at a Shell gas station about 11 minutes away where you can empty and clean out your RV grey/black tanks after your stay. I would definitely recommend.

The space was wide open and flat with perfect ground for tent camping. It was a bit hard to find a spot in the dark so highly suggest planning to set up before dusk, but there were a few light posts present. Check in and check out was simple, fast, and requires no human interaction. Area seems very safe - even more so with the fancy high tech gate system into the ranch - and the nearby downtown area is fancy. The restroom/shower room was clean but can be a bit of a walk from the camp sites, so plan accordingly. Morning dew made it so that your socks are likely to get wet making it to the restroom!

We're coming back here! Affordable and well worth it. The highlight was definitely the animal feeding-it was straight up magical. Like a scene out of a movie!
Traditional camping with some modern luxuries like flush toilets and a dishwashing sink. The animals were charming and nature's alarm.
Just a couple of heads up-the area can get quite wet and foggy. Things will get wet overnight.
The farm dogs, Sparky and Little Red were cute but quite persistent with our female dog.
It is an actual ranch so bring earplugs. Roosters started crowing at 10pm and continued to do so at random intervals.
For all you cityfolk, it is a ranch, so watch your step.
All in all, LOVE this hipcamp.

This park is located near the city of Rio Vista, between Sacramento and San Francisco. It's just one many river islands in the Sacramento and San Joaquin River deltas.
The maze of waterways makes this area unique. BYOB (bring your own boat) to explore the inlets, marshes. and wetlands of this verdant river valley. The place is so vast, it's easy to find a secluded spot for peace and quiet.
Both rivers offer places to fish, swim, and gaze at wildlife. Put in your boat at the park's 10-lane launch ramp. Then, head west to Grizzly Bay or go south to Bethel Island. Either place gives you plenty of warm sun, wide open spaces, and fish.
Land some striped bass, sturgeon, catfish, bluegill, perch, or bullhead for your dinner. Wetland areas harbor tons of waterfowl if you love watching wildlife.
Rio Vista has all the supplies you need for your getaway. This park has 140 campsites that accommodate tents and RVs. Some spots allow boat-in camping.

Can't seem to figure out where the button is that allows you to actually make a reservation. I've been on this site clicking around, dodging pop-ups for parks in states I have absolutely no intention of visiting, and just hoping that some IT design person will someday care to make their sites usable.

I stayed two nights in campsite 61 and had an amazing time. If you visit in the summer, make sure your site has shade or bring a canopy. If you want a bit of privacy, choose sites 71 or 72 which is in the back surrounded by trees. This campground is very convenient and close to everything--town is 10 minutes away. They have a small beach area on the other side of the park where you can go swimming or you can go to Sandy Beach Park and make a day of it. There's also awesome windsurfing and kitesurfing nearby. I did a beginner lesson with Delta Wind Sports and it was a blast!

Rules are too strict and when it gets dark earwigs fall from the trees and come up from the ground and take over EVERYTHING. Dogs must be on leash at all times and they cannot enter the water. Only two license plates per site even though they can comfortably fit 3 cars and 6 cars squished. The people in charge drive around in golf caddies so you get a sense of being watched all the time. Overall, bad experience especially because of the bugs. Bathrooms were very clean however.

Some sites have hook-ups. Check location for shaded areas if going in summer. Tends to be quite hot. Great water sports location. Some sloughs are boat restricted so good for canoe or possibly kayak. Many people bring their RV's and boats to this location Good restaurants available in Rio Vista if you get tired of cooking!

Every camper has their own preference in how to experience nature. For my dog Dexter and I, we appreciate more secluded trips into the woods with our packs. Leaving behind phones, cars, and convenience to rough it for days at a time. What Brannan Island does well, is create different atmospheres for different campers who want to experience their ideal outing. Essentially, the camp ground is divided in such a way that people wouldn't be bothered unnecessarily with the humming of an RV engine or a group of noisy campers if quiet and relaxation is what you are after. The walk-in camp locations are a short walk from a parking lot and situated right along the river for easy fishing access. I would highly recommend space 128.

We drove from Ohio to here and stayed 6 days. The campground was virtually deserted with the exception of a Saturday night. Staff very friendly and the keep the place immaculate. i loved the Delta. Can't wait to come back!
