6 Sites are on Sunrise Farms 75 acre Conservation land with 50 mile view for Sites 1 and 2. Very quiet area with lots of wildlife and ponds and disc golf. Very quiet with great swimming and lots of hikes right from your sites.
2 of the Brookside Sites (Wishbone Left and Right) are close by (2.7 miles) where we have another 1/2 mile of river frontage and can handle bigger groups as Conservation land on Sunrise Farm only allows 4 campers per site.
Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide.
Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from.
Great Well water available near farmhouse. Biodegradable soaps Only if used in the ponds. Double Olympic sized Swim Pond we stock with Rainbow Trout to keep clear.
We have been advised Not to allow imported firewood (can import Wood Beetle dangerous for our forest).
- PLEASE use the Firewood bundle tubs we provide ($12.50) - pick up at the farmhouse or pull wood from the woods (and make it safer for use).
Beautiful and plenty of wildlife nearby... as well as Outhouses are marked on Map we provide with solar lights marking them at night. Do Not Leave food out when camping or away from site. Bears are rarely seen but it is wild country. Sites have locking garbage lids.
Unique and lovely as well as being next to trails and roads to miles of remote spots with very few if any ... people.
In Winter we request only AWD vehicles go down to this site or park up by farmhouse and hike in so you can easily get out. When wet park up by the road if you have 2 wheel drive.
Always WISE to arrive When LIGHT out as we do not live at the site and are not able to show guests to their sites as a result.

Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water.
Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders.
The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet.
There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest.
The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders.
I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs.
Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making.
In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe.
Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far.
All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too!
Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do.
For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail.
The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience.
Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

Gas lights inside. No internet so come get away from technology!
New this year! We have added a shower shed with hot water! You will now be able to take a quick shower. May through October or when the weather is above freezing at night.
Please if staying with us in the winter four wheel drive is recommended. Or front wheel drive with decent snow tires. The driveway is long and the road up to it can be tricky during winter weather. Also because of the woodstove, it might not be a good place for toddlers in the colder months.

Rustic and Comfortable Cabins. No power lines cross our property. We have no blaring screens to distract us from the sound of the wind in the leaves or to call us back to the whirl of modern life. But that does not mean we are without any comforts.
Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, hot and cold running spring water, indoor bathroom, and overhead LP gas lamps. Nestled in the forest at meadow's edge, Cold Spring Cabin has an outdoor shower and indoor tub. Perched on a hill near the Farm Pond, Ripley Hill Cabin has an indoor shower and tub.
The cabins are rustic, but clean and airy. The luxuries at Forest Echo Farm are not inside the cabins; they are found in the light that fills the forest in late afternoon, the silence of an evening canoe and the moonlit sparkle of dewdrops at midnight. We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses.
All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding.
Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. Please bring lots of clothes and layers. Stay warm!
Smoking: We are primarily a non-smoking/vaping farm and appreciate you smoking/vaping in your vehicle not on our premises please.
Partying: Nope not us. Our farm is peaceful and quiet and so are our neighbors. Please party elsewhere and come here to relax in the blissful quiet of nature. Quiet music, just playing some Spotify tunes and acoustic musicians are welcome here. There's a great bar restaurant 5 minutes from us, "17 Cherry Plain Sq". Live music, great food and something like 40 beers on tap. Party there then chill out here with us.
Breakfast and the best beef this side of the Mississippi can be found at Gardners Cafe and Icecream Shop only 5 miles up 22 South from our place. You can enjoy a big fat omelet with homefries and bacon then grab frozen hamburg and steaks from Gardner's own local beef grown wild and free outside.
Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm is adjacent to miles of public forest. Peace and solace can be found in these quiet mountains. In addition to amazing hiking, backpacking mountain biking, road biking right from your Hipcamp site, with kayaking nearby.
We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail.
Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts.
Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you.
We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age.
There is a $50 additional charge for garbage left at our farm including cigarette butts (we are a no smoking farm!), broken glass, bottles, cans, plastics, containers, bags and other trash.

We have been the caretakers of this land and cabin since 2015, when we bought it from the builder of the modest cabin on-site, Steve.
It is our family camp, but we love to share it with friends and fellow nature-loving campers.
The land is partially wooded, and partially 'old field' that is slowly re-foresting through natural succession with some intentional interruption in order to introduce edible native trees and shrubs that are not naturally present.
In this way the land is a slowly developing food forest and also a nursery for its plant-loving stewards.
Learn more about this land:
Escape the city and find yourself in this off-grid hillside cabin with a deck overlooking the Taconic mountain range. Wander through field and forest, and cool off in the nearby stream. The cabin has two rooms, and there is a kids playground and tire swing making this an appropriate family camping getaway. There is a solar panel providing indoor lights and phone charging capabilities, a fire pit with a grill, and a simple array of pots, dishes, and utensils. There is a spring-fed 55 gallon reservoir of potable water that will slowly refill as well.
Though not far off the road, there is very little car traffic, and the surroundings are very peaceful. The din of the running stream is a constant, while the sounds of coyotes and owls can be heard at night. As the name indicates, the east-facing hillside is often witness to incredible moonrises, and the stars are always bright.
Nearby Attractions:
The Beer Diviner small-scale brewery and taproom is a stone's throw away from the parking area with a selection of tasty beer and some food options available. In addition to regular hours, there are special summer events, and live music every Saturday night.

6 Sites are on Sunrise Farms 75 acre Conservation land with 50 mile view for Sites 1 and 2. Very quiet area with lots of wildlife and ponds and disc golf. Very quiet with great swimming and lots of hikes right from your sites.
2 of the Brookside Sites (Wishbone Left and Right) are close by (2.7 miles) where we have another 1/2 mile of river frontage and can handle bigger groups as Conservation land on Sunrise Farm only allows 4 campers per site.
Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide.
Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from.
Great Well water available near farmhouse. Biodegradable soaps Only if used in the ponds. Double Olympic sized Swim Pond we stock with Rainbow Trout to keep clear.
We have been advised Not to allow imported firewood (can import Wood Beetle dangerous for our forest).
- PLEASE use the Firewood bundle tubs we provide ($12.50) - pick up at the farmhouse or pull wood from the woods (and make it safer for use).
Beautiful and plenty of wildlife nearby... as well as Outhouses are marked on Map we provide with solar lights marking them at night. Do Not Leave food out when camping or away from site. Bears are rarely seen but it is wild country. Sites have locking garbage lids.
Unique and lovely as well as being next to trails and roads to miles of remote spots with very few if any ... people.
In Winter we request only AWD vehicles go down to this site or park up by farmhouse and hike in so you can easily get out. When wet park up by the road if you have 2 wheel drive.

Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water.
Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders.
The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet.
There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest.
The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders.
I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs.
Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making.
In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe.
Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far.
All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too!
Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do.
For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail.
The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience.
Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

New this year! We have added a shower shed with hot water! You will now be able to take a quick shower. May through October or when the weather is above freezing at night.
Please if staying with us in the winter four wheel drive is recommended. Or front wheel drive with decent snow tires. The driveway is long and the road up to it can be tricky during winter weather. Also because of the woodstove, it might not be a good place for toddlers in the colder months.

There are also miles and miles of quiet dirt roads and abandoned forest tracks in the area, offering near endless opportunities for gravel cycling adventures.
The property features perennial gardens, a pond, open meadows, forestland, and picturesque southerly views from the top of the north meadow.
The tent, van and glamping sites are thoughtfully located in protected nooks in the forestland and along the forest's edge.
We have hot outdoor showers (3) and a handmade wooden building that houses our portable toilets. There is also a communal fire pit.

Only 10 minutes from Cherry Plain State Park, Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm/ Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC is a 150 acre hidden destination for outdoor adventurers, families and solo campers. We are a safe place for women who are traveling alone.
We ensure everyone's quiet experience by not publishing our actual address.
Please note: We ask for photo ID. Once we receive your photo ID via text we will provide exact directions to our property. Please plan to check in no later than 4:30pm as we are not available for later check ins unless we agree to meet you. It is dark at 5pm so early check in is critical.
We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses.
All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding.
Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. Please bring lots of clothes and layers. Stay warm!
Smoking: We are primarily a non-smoking/vaping farm and appreciate you smoking/vaping in your vehicle not on our premises please.
Partying: Nope not us. Our farm is peaceful and quiet and so are our neighbors. Please party elsewhere and come here to relax in the blissful quiet of nature. Quiet music, just playing some Spotify tunes and acoustic musicians are welcome here. There's a great bar restaurant 5 minutes from us, "17 Cherry Plain Sq". Live music, great food and something like 40 beers on tap. Party there then chill out here with us.
Breakfast and the best beef this side of the Mississippi can be found at Gardners Cafe and Icecream Shop only 5 miles up 22 South from our place. You can enjoy a big fat omelet with homefries and bacon then grab frozen hamburg and steaks from Gardner's own local beef grown wild and free outside.
Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm is adjacent to miles of public forest. Peace and solace can be found in these quiet mountains. In addition to amazing hiking, backpacking mountain biking, road biking right from your Hipcamp site, with kayaking nearby.
We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail.
Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts.
Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you.
We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age.
There is a $50 additional charge for garbage left at our farm including cigarette butts (we are a no smoking farm!), broken glass, bottles, cans, plastics, containers, bags and other trash.
This is a pack in and pack out working farm not a party spot. Renting from us constitutes your reading of our rules attached to each property, your understanding and your agreement of our policies. We have been the caretakers of this land and cabin since 2015, when we bought it from the builder of the modest cabin on-site, Steve.
It is our family camp, but we love to share it with friends and fellow nature-loving campers.
The land is partially wooded, and partially 'old field' that is slowly re-foresting through natural succession with some intentional interruption in order to introduce edible native trees and shrubs that are not naturally present.
In this way the land is a slowly developing food forest and also a nursery for its plant-loving stewards.

Escape the city and find yourself in this off-grid hillside cabin with a deck overlooking the Taconic mountain range. Wander through field and forest, and cool off in the nearby stream. The cabin has two rooms, and there is a kids playground and tire swing making this an appropriate family camping getaway. There is a solar panel providing indoor lights and phone charging capabilities, a fire pit with a grill, and a simple array of pots, dishes, and utensils. There is a spring-fed 55 gallon reservoir of potable water that will slowly refill as well.
Though not far off the road, there is very little car traffic, and the surroundings are very peaceful. The din of the running stream is a constant, while the sounds of coyotes and owls can be heard at night. As the name indicates, the east-facing hillside is often witness to incredible moonrises, and the stars are always bright.
Nearby Attractions:
The Beer Diviner small-scale brewery and taproom is a stone's throw away from the parking area with a selection of tasty beer and some food options available. In addition to regular hours, there are special summer events, and live music every Saturday night.
Cherry Plain State Park is a 'less-traveled' state park and campground just 3.5 miles up the road, offering lake swimming, boating, hiking and mountain bike trails.
Other nearby outdoor attractions include: Williamstown MA, The Taconic Crest Trail, Jiminy Peak Resort, Hancock Shaker Village, and Mt. Greylock.

A former farm now a 150 acre forested retreat. Mt Ascutney, a 3500' monadnock is to the north and view in excess of 60 miles to the south.

Total trip from our house is 320yd if your car is not up to the trip in.

We appreciate our guest leaving the camp as found. So far so good!
Camp has the following: LP 2 burner cook top, pots and pans, dishes, flat ware, some spices and such.
Fresh clean water will be at the camp when you arrive.

you still wish to bring your own drinking water please do so in reusable jugs. We are trying to limit plastic use.
NOTE:
Using GPS, Google map, or other device our address may come up as Perkinsville, Ascutney, or even Springfield even though the town is Weathersfield.
Check the map and just confirm that Center Grove Rd is shown or called out as off of Weathersfield Center Rd.
Firewood for the outside fire pit is available under extras.
However if it has rained or raining you may want to bring kindling wood.
We now have slab wood for sale if you do not want to rummage for wood in the forest
PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN KINDLING WOOD FOR THE STOVE.
Chunk wood is furnished for the inside stove. There is a splitting maul, snow shovel, and hatchet

Lake St. Catherine State Park and Lake Bomoseen and others are close by for fun park activities, ice fishing, swimming. Visit a local winery (Whaleback Vineyard), see how maple syrup is made (Thrall Road Maple), shop the neighboring farm stands for local eggs, produce and baked goods. Bring your rod or nets for trout and crawfish from the river. Bonus ideas: pool noodles or a pool floaty and some rope to relax in the current.

The cabin sits on 10 acres of land was once owned by the infamous Rockefeller and is in the heart of the Vermont Green Mountains. Plymouth is the home of many historic sites, mind blowing views of the mountains, and close a proximity to some of the best resources Vermont has to offer (The Appalachian Trail, Vermont Artisan Cheese, Long Trail Brewery Company, numerous Maple Syrup shops, etc...). Plymouth is also is the birthplace of Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President of The United States. The home he was born in, lived in, and inaugurated in are less than a mile away and are all still standing, now are used as museums to represent his history and the impact he has had on the town of Plymouth. The property also has memorable views of Mt. Killington that is just miles away where you can see the beautiful foliage during the fall months and see the ski slopes during the winter months. The time send here will for sure be memorable and have you wanting to come back.

We had a wonderful stay st the cozy mountain cabin. It is just as the name suggests. Perfect spot to get away and enjoy nature and relax. The cabin is very nicely kept and has had some recent renovations and appears more to come making an even more comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend and plan on returning ourselves when the weather warms up a bit.

Weekend Trip to The Deer Crib at Flat Rock Farm
Hosts Marlene and Craig were great very friendly and accommodating. Cabin was nice and quiet plenty of room and comfortable. It was nice to be able to take a quick hot shower in the new shower shed. My dog loved being able to wonder around off the leash and go for a hike. We will definitely keep this one in our return list.

We stayed 2 nights with our 2 dogs in March. The weather was colder than usual, both nights below freezing temps outside. The wood stove had no issue keeping the inside of the cabin very warm despite the cold (accidentally let it get up to 80+ degrees and had to open windows). We brought all of our usual camping gear because I like it be overly prepared but didn't need most of it at all. Would have been fine if we just brought food and clothing everything else is provided. Very quiet and secluded feel with a nice view overlooking valley below and mountain across the valley. Good view of the sky and no light pollution. Great trip very relaxing was able to put phones away and unwind.

The cabin was very cute! They provided jugs of potable water and it was equipped with a stove, bowls, cups, utensils, etc. as well as firewood for the wood stove as well as the fire pit outside. The cabin came with a long couch, a loveseat, and two twin beds, as well as extra blankets.
For electricity, you need to turn on the generator, which powered the lights and made it possible to use the outlets. There are also gas lamps inside the cabin that can be used independent of the generator.
We did run out of gas for the lamps and for the cooking stove and they were responsive to replace the gas for us.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning in the future or recommending the space to others. Thanks so much!

The river is so beautiful and peaceful that you can see and hear out the window. The cabin had everything you could need and Robyn was very quick and helpful with any questions. And the area is very dog friendly.. The heater was plenty warm for the cold nights.. I am a smoker and we were getting a little bit of rain so Robyn brought me over a canopy and set it up for me. Overall wonderful time

A perfect Maple Weekend with my two grandsons. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a pack of friendly dogs that made us feel right at home. Our cabin was tucked away down a quiet path in the woods—peaceful, private, and just far enough from the world. There were beds for each of us and table and chairs for playing games and eating.
The highlights for the boys were definitely the 'farm chores.' They got to help the owner boil a fresh batch of maple syrup over the open fire and spent hours hanging out with the chickens and collecting eggs. Between spotting deer in the fields and the cozy cabin life (complete with a handy indoor loo for those middle-of-the-night trips!), it was a wonderful rustic experience. We’re already counting down the days until our summer return!"

I spent a day at Robbin's little cabin by the Poultney river with my partner, and it was so wonderful! The river is beautiful, and the cabin is cozy and felt like the perfect amount of space for a nice little dinner, cards, reading, having coffee. The cabin felt well stocked and Robbin was really responsive! I'd definitely come back :)

Weekend Trip to Dickensen Farm: Cabins & Camping
I had such a great experience at Dickensen Farm.
I was immediately greeted by the property pawtrol lol, and kept company by two new furry friends nearly the whole weekend.
Cabin was a perfect, clean shelter. This one is the closest to the house — but the property is peaceful and quiet.
I believe I was the only guest as it was a rainy and cold weekend, and I felt lucky! Walking through the woods and listening to the rain was great; but the tin roof while reading was even better.
I am used to camping with my sleeping bag and buddy heater so I was comfortable at night with no problems.
Kimberly is a great host. I appreciate meeting kind people.

Brought my girlfriend and her two pups to Robbin’s little cabin for a pre Valentine’s Day get away. The cabin is adorable and Robbin is a wonderful host. The cabin is well stocked and a perfect relaxation station for a little system reset. Had a a visiting Bald Eagle perch in the tree above me while I grilled some steaks on the little charcoal grill for dinner. We also enjoyed the fire pit and even took a midnight walking adventure on the snowmobile trail that was near by with the pups.

My NE travels are more limited than I'd like by my vehicle's 2WDand low clearance, so this location was great in terms of accessibility. There are a few houses around, but it still felt private and safe, especially once inside, as the cabin's windows facing the woods and river behind the house where no other houses can be seen. The host provided very detailed instructions for the cabin and the area, and was very responsive throughout my stay. The propane stove was incredibly warm even as overnight temps dipped into the teens and lower.

Grout Pond Recreation Area
Remote State run campground on Grout Pond. Sites are well maintained and $16 dollars a night. Fire ring & picnic table at each site and pit toilets available. Very peaceful and remote! Plenty of hiking trails. We only had a short walk to enjoy a swim at the pond. Would recommend to friends!

This location on the map is VERY incorrect. Stratton Pond is West of Londonderry. Also, I hiked the Stratton Pond trail yesterday and didn't see any camping spots until you reach the lake.

Multiple sites are first come, first serve (I believe the first few or so) but the sites after that are usually bookable. I was able to reserve site 11 on recreation.gov .. but I believe site 10 and under is first come, first serve. Definitely research or call ahead of time to ensure your spot!

"atop a small clearing"? no, down in woods w some breaks in trees w views of Greens. You need high clearance to access or hike in a half mile. I had a RAV w trailer hitch that would have bottomed out. One site

The road is called Michigan Road and the river is called West Tweed River. The road is really tough on small vans and trucks cars lots of washouts there is no Lake

Be aware of wildlife in the area. Pack seal-able (and non-chewable!) bags to ward off critters trying to take a bite out of your snacks.

Hapgood Pond is a great campground located just outside of Peru in the Southern Green Mountains. It is a great place to stop on your first night in Vermont if you are traveling from the South. It is peaceful and quiet. An easy, dog friendly hiking trail loops around the pond. One of my favorite places in all of Vermont: J.J. Hapgood General Store is located just minutes away. Great place to pick up some local food and goods. They offer delicious meals and have a great patio.

Relatively unknown gem in Southern Vermont. Hike-in or boat-in only camping along a beautiful little pond high in the Green Mountain NF. Rarely crowded and accessible year-round, there are a couple of lean-to shelters along Vermont's Catamount ski trail as well as remarkable fishing in Somerset Reservoir and the Upper Deerfield river. Plenty of easy hiking around the lake as well as along the huge Somerset Reservoir just south of Grout Pond. Tucked in a high basin between Stratton & Mt. Snow, its a moderate drive to Wilmington for supplies and a stellar spot with very spread out camping. The best sites are the ones furthest along the trail, but all very nice.

Once upon a November, the leaf peepin' got the best of us and we drove North. We landed in vacant and lush Vermont, and chose Mount Moosalamoo for the hiking and honestly, the endearing name. An empty campground, not a sound or soul for miles. And it snowed on our damp firepit and all was well for long enough to make a quick quesadilla... do bring your own dry logs from within state! Still, for the peace and simplictiy, off season camping can't be beat.
