Within about a half-hour drive, there are many opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, hunting and fishing, and birding.  Nearby parks and forests include Hocking Hills State Park, Hocking Hills State Forest, Lake Hope State Park, Zaleski State Forest, the Moonville Rail Trail, Lake Alma State Park, Tar Hollow State Forest, and more!Set up camp wherever you like!  There are 12 acres of open field space, surrounded by 50 acres of wooded hills and hollows with hiking trails and level spots to pitch tents. Vehicles can be driven to the field sites; we are still working on a road to access the hill sites by vehicle.  The fields have about a dozen "permanent" sites with stone or metal fire rings and log seating.  Portable fire rings are also available that can be moved anywhere.  Dead wood for campfires is free to gather, or split firewood is available to purchase for $5/bundle. A toilet and solar shower are located at the center of the property. An outdoor water spigot is also available. You must provide sleeping bags, linens , blankets etc. The tipi can sleep up to 6 people, 2 on the queen bed we provide, with ample room for additional cots or air mattresses that you provide. We have cots available to rent as an add on. . You may also pitch additional tents or hang hammocks in the trees with room for up to 10 people in all. Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch is a working bison farm with bison, honeybees, chickens and peafowl. Sweet Spot by Yellow Springs

1 site · RV, Tent5 acres · Yellow Springs, OH
Learn more about this land: The campsite is in an open meadow on our 5 acre property, next to the ruins of what was one of the oldest barns in the county (there are still some beautiful stone walls left). You will be surrounded by trees and the spot is completely private. Directly across the road from our property (a 5 minute walk) is the Little Miami Scenic Trail, the third longest paved trail in the US (amazing for biking). The unique village of Yellow Springs is only a 5 minute drive away with a great local grocery store and several cafes. Included in this campsite is access to our 1830s spring house if you want a refreshing dip! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE BOOKING.Notes: 1) For camper vans: we do allow camper vans (not RVs or trailers) but you will need to park at the entrance of the meadow where there is gravel. Recently a camper got stuck in the meadow due to rain/mud (which is why we do not allow RVs or trailers). 2) We are still building a compost toilet so the option on the property now is to dig a cat hole at least 6" deep. There is an open public toilet in Yellow Springs and several businesses with open bathrooms. 3) The spring house is not secluded, you can see it from our driveway. We regularly let it drain and it fills itself up. Water level depends on rainfall. It is cold but perfect for hot days! 4) The campsite is right off of Route 68. You cannot see cars from the site but you can hear them. The amount of noise from cars is lower at night. 5) The meadow is ideal for tent camping, though it is NOT a built campsite so it is not perfectly level throughout.

The best camping near Deer Creek State Park guide

Overview

About

More like a resort than anything, Deer Creek State Park will transport you outdoors while remaining in the lap of luxury. Whether you choose to stay in the lodge, cottages, or campgrounds, swimming pools and a 350-acre golf course are what make this area so deluxe. Work your game at one of the courts or relax on the sands of a 1,700-ft beach, the choice is yours. Waterfowl hunting is a boon in this area, though you will have to win your hunting permit on a lottery basis. Whether you're looking to hook some spring saugeye or rev your boat with unlimited horsepower along the reservoir, we have a sneaking suspicion you won't get bored in this plush locale.
