Learn more about this land: I'm an artist and my husband and I have a small homestead with chickens and sometimes sheep/goats. Look out for electric netting to keep our herd/flock protected. The lighting over our back field is divine in the late afternoon, or if you prefer a wooded setting, we have a small wooded area across the street from our house. The area is hilly and rather private-- only one neighbor is visible when the trees are leafed out. Electric is accessible from an outlet at the backyard fence or in the barn. We often have fresh veggies and fruit in the garden in the summer, and sometimes extra farm fresh eggs. Nearby (10 minute drive) is Hargus lake, with boat rental and fishing. Also nearby is the Slate Run Historical Farm, (15 minute drive) which is a farm that is fully functioning as a farm from the 1880's with sheep, draft horses, hogs, and poultry at Slate Run Metro park, which has many woodland and wetland trails, as well as a covered bridge and several playgrounds. We are about 35 minutes from the Hocking Hills area, which is one of the most beautiful and unique areas in Ohio.I'm an artist and my husband and I have a small homestead with chickens. We do have roosters, so if you fear their crowing will wake you, we recommend camping in the wooded area across the road, just ask and we can point it out. There are some other houses around, but they are a distance away. Campers should park behind the blue car in our driveway and can set up anywhere behind our house. While we try to stay on top of poison ivy, it's around, so keep that in mind! There are about 4 acres. Some areas in the back field can be wet, so beware. We don't recommend driving back there if it's been rainy, as the ground can be soft.
What to expect
Tent site
You'll have this Hipcamp all to yourself.
7 guests max
Campfires allowed
Firewood provided, firepit, communal. Please bring your own firewood. We do have firewood, but you need to ask ahead of time to be sure we have dry wood available. A donation in exchange for firewood is appreciated.
Pets allowed
Off leash, on leash. If you bring your pet, please keep them leashed if there's a risk they may jump our electric fence and eat our chickens, or if they are aggressive at all with other dogs or people. We have a dog. She is very friendly, but tends to escape.
No toilet; campers must bring camp toilets
Potable water available
Spigot, hose. There is a spigot at the back of the house, we can show you where. We can also provide filtered water from inside our house.
Wifi available
You can access our wifi from our backyard if you need it. I can supply a password. The wifi signal is only accessible close to our house, but there is a covered area and chairs if you would like to sit and use it.
No showers
Bathe in river or stream. There is small creek, but it's pretty shallow. It would work in a pinch. It's not ideal for bathing. Campers can use our basement shower (this is unventured territory, and it's not a finished basement, but the showered works and has hot water) or the hose if they are desperate ;) Ask us for details.
