Learn more about this land: If you like privacy you'll love our 200 acre haven. Come up the long driveway and experience the spacious view of the open hay field. Camp in the open or tucked away in the trees. You choose the spot as long as it's not in the horse pasture, cow pasture when cows are in, or in the hay field when hay is long before it's cut. Hay field would be off limits roughly late June to Mid July during optimal growth time and cutting. Note: This is a primitive camping experience. We offer no amenities, no toilets, no water. We are a 20 minute drive from the North Entrance to Itasca State Park and the Headwaters of the Mississippi. LaSalle Lake State Recreation Area is also just a few minutes down the road from us. The 80-acre property is carved out of a Norway pine plantation. Sites are approximately 10,000 square ft. in size with about 50 ft. of trees between each site for semi-privacy. We have tried to maintain a balance of nature while making the sites as RV friendly as possible. Although the property is located in the country, it is located along a state highway for easy access and there are three towns and many amenities and recreational venues within 15 minutes drive. Currently no hook-ups, but there is a yard hydrant and dump station. There are also portable restrooms on site.

Goldie is open for the summer! Goldie is an original early 1900's wooden caboose that ran on the DMIR railroad. She was re-designed in 1912 to be safer on the tracks (and her length extended so she wouldn't fall over). She ran the tracks of the Iron Range until retirement in 1968. She's been fully renovated with a few modern conveniences. We've re-used as much of the original wood as possible, and repurposed many things into other things so that we could keep the history alive. My husband is the carpenter that brought her to life and I'm the one that gave her some paint and design. Now, she's ready for people again, and to keep telling her story to others. Please...be our guest...and let Goldie be your host. The caboose sits about 50 yards from the house, but it tucked into the trees and feels very private. There is a private trail that leads from the caboose to the lake. Goldie has a max occupancy of 2 people due to space constraints. Please no pets since there are wooden floors. If you have a service dog, of course it is welcome - please reach out to me about that detail. They are super friendly, but they will come to visit you at the lake. Our lake is an "environmental lake" so while we keep a small beach area that you are welcome to use, it is not free of lily pads or weeds. It's simple, but fully swimm-able (the Golden Retriever keeps the first 8 feet of water weed free with her swimming!). You are welcome to use the dock and chairs we keep there for breezy evenings or to take a dip to cool off. We are only 2i-sh miles from town with gas, food, ice cream, coffee shop, resaturants, small town shopping and a donut shop. There is a paved rail trail just down our street that runs both directions for many miles. Bikes are welcome! (please leave ATVs at home).

The cabin features neutral colors, pine ceilings, minimal décor, excellent use of space, and abundant windows, so you can enjoy plenty of natural light and views of the surrounding woods. The great room includes comfortable leather furniture, a dining table, a 75-inch Smart TV with a PS4, and a cozy wood stove. The thoughtfully designed galley kitchen has all the essentials and a large pantry. There's also a breakfast nook and work area with an additional dining table and chairs. The main-level bedroom has a queen bed and plenty of closet space. The loft features two queen beds and one single bed. The bathroom includes a shower and a heater/exhaust fan. A washer and dryer are also provided. Other things to note: The lakeshore is beautiful, but it requires a short walk along the gravel road followed by a short hike down to the water, where you'll find metal chairs and a dock. The dock is very basic but functional, and a boat can be tied to it. Aquatic plants become more abundant in the water later in the summer. The dock is available from Memorial Day through Labor Day. We are continuing to improve the lakeshore by finishing steps down the slope and hope to add a longer dock in the future. Please reach out with any questions.

Had a wonderful weekend at Harvest Loon Camp. All of the amenities far exceeded expectations! The beds were comfortable, the cabin was air conditioned and the bathroom was newly renovated. Bonus points for being dog friendly! Robert was very responsive to questions throughout our trip. Highly recommend staying here - one of the best Hipcamp experiences we've had!

Our stay at Paul's Lakeside Cottage exceeded every expectation! Paul is an incredible host and made us feel right at home. One of the highlights was a sunset cruise on the lake that we'll never forget. The cottage was the perfect home base for exploring Itasca State Park and Bemidji, while still offering a peaceful place to relax. We saw so much wildlife—including a bear sitting on the beaver dam across the lake! Our dog, Piper, absolutely loved her stay and had so much fun playing with Paul's sweet dog, Piper. She definitely wasn't ready to leave! If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway with an amazing host, this is it. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and can't wait to come back!

Great place! Great fit for us with kids, they loved the lake, bunk beds, and we went to the beach at Little Emily Lake Park about 15 minutes away. Loved the fire pit, and we hung a couple hammocks. Would love to come back again.

I stayed at the Deluxe campsite. What a beautiful site. Right on the water plenty of room for multiple tents if needed I personally car camped out of my four runner and had enough room where I could get right down to the water and still had plenty of room for a fire if I wanted too. I would highly recommend this campsite and I know I will be back in the future..

4 nights at Harvest Loon Camp

Thank goodness we had good company. The weather was to cold to get in the lake but the guys enjoyed fishing from the kyacks. The fire pit saved the days for us girls. Next time we will go later in the year to enjoy all that this property has to offer. Beautiful and Peaceful. The swans and the beavers were fun to watch. The loons were truly amazing to listen to. It was just so cold. Mother nature decided that. I can only imagine how much more it has to offer on warm sunny days. Next time we WILL go later in the year. We still had an amazing time with the best of friends. Just down the road, Pickle Loon saloon was a great place to dine on all you can eat fish Mondays. And FYI, the beds are full size (3) and a trundle. Bathroom was spacious with an amazing shower. We never saw another person the whole time we were there. Not even on the lake. Its just a beautiful piece of land and property. And ohhhh..I saw the biggest doe that I have ever laid eyes on. Nature at its finest. Thank you Bob for allowing us this opportunity. ❤️

Weekend Trip to Harvest Loon Camp

This was the perfect quiet getaway cabin for our family. Nice and secluded cabin with access to the water! Fantastic cozy backyard area with firepit. The cabin itself worked great for us; open concept allowed for more family interaction, and then also able to shut the door and allow the early risers to make coffee and take showers while the teenagers get to sleep in a bit and not be disturbed. The cabin was a great blend of authentic rustic “cabin feel” along with some luxuries (A/C if needed, nice new addition with nice shower, laundry, etc…). Take the time to try the spring water down the road! The loons provided great company. Our golden retriever enjoyed the layout as well. It worked real well for having a dog. Great rental!

Weekend Trip to Safe And Sound In Nevis, MN

Debbie and Steve were awesome! So friendly, met us at the cabin and showed us around. Whatever you need, they’ll accommodate. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and the massage chairs were amazing after a long day in the sun! There is so much wildlife to watch and listen to. The water was a bit weedy at the dick but we were able to use floaties to move out to open water and it was so beautiful. Even caught a fish off the dock! Highly recommend and will be coming back soon ❤️

Absolutely incredible property! Such a privilege to get to stay at Bob’s place. The cabin and setting are truly heavenly. We saw one boat the entire week. Beavers, owls, herons, muskrats, birds of many species. It is so well set up for outdoor cooking & eating. The beach and kayaks made the lake feel so accessible and enjoyable. The condition of the cabin is so wonderfully preserved and the new bathroom is such a perk. Can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful private lake! Canoe on site. We caught bluegill of 3 types, crappie, bass and northern. Close to Itasca and Paul Bunyon State Forrest. Kitchen full of appliances and stocked with supplies. Clean bathroom. Shower, towels supplied. Great for a back country getaway!!!

I felt like I was at a private nature retreat. Watching and listening to the lake activity was magical. Loons, trumpet swans, beavers…..and the birds! Have your Merlin App ready to go and don’t forget your binoculars. The property is amazing, the host is amazing. Truly a special getaway, and a quick drive to Nevis, Itasca State Park and Park Rapids for local adventures. I can’t wait to go back.

2 adults, 1 dog we had the entire place to ourselves. We had a wonderful time. The amenities make this Hipcamp spot stand out (very clean, brightly lite and ROOMY outhouse, hand washing station, fire pit cooking grate(s), picnic table, large bench at site and free firewood). Watch out for rocks and small stumps when putting up your tent. This site and the other tent site have a short path between them which would be easy access for a group that needs 2 sites next to each other, but might be too close for others who want privacy. This site does not have any shade for midday sun so come prepared. We recommend this site!!

This is such a gem. It was our second time visiting; first in the winter and now late spring. Can confirm it is great regardless of season! Such a beautiful view of the lake, comfy beds, great kitchen, really nice fire pit area. Definitely recommend just don't book it when we want to come! :)
