Hike-in to some sites at this Hipcamp.
Explore a beautiful glacial landscape featuring two ponds and forests of birch, maple, balsam fir, white pine, red pine, and spruce with beach access across the road and boat access about 1/8 mile east. The property offers access to seven lakes within walking or portaging distance: Smith, West Smith, North Smith, East Smith, South Smith, McKeown, and Duck Lakes. Most of these lakes are surrounded by U.S. Forest Service land. Guests also have access to a sandy beach on Smith Lake with a swimming raft. If you prefer cabin accommodations, the furnished Sunset Point Cabin is located right on the beach of Smith Lake at 46738 Smith Lake Road. It mostly full until late August, early September. It features three bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower, a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, BBQ grill, towels, a washer and dryer, and shampoo and conditioner.

Site #5 Private Boundary Line

(1)
Tent site · Sleeps 4
The farthest walk but the most privacy is right along the boundary between our land, the neighbor's land and the US Forest Service Land. You can portage to South Smith Lake but the grasses in the lake make access challenging now. Travel south to Duck Lake Road (NOT on any map) and fish or swim in a pristine clear lake. the bass are voracious there.

Nearest site to the gravel county road is hidden in the balsam fir and is near the communal bonfire/BBQ place. Glacial hills covered with trees and two small ponds, surrounded by access to seven walking or portage distance lakes, access to sandy beach and outhouse across the Smith Lake Road. Easily accessed for kayaking, canoeing or fishing on any of the seven lakes. Much of surrounding area is US Forest Service Land.

#2 High Peak/Green Valley

RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 14 ft
You can climb to the highest spot in the neighborhood where the deer path exists and view the entire surrounding area, or you can camp at the bottom in the tall grasses near the grassy road. A short walk along the grassy road and across the gravel road, join us at the Smith Lake Beach. There's kayaks, floaties, and canoes to enhance your visit, go fishing, or you can just swim or play in the sand.

#3 Maple Sugarhouse Site

RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 14 ft
This is near the Sugarhouse where we make maple syrup. A short walk south and you can swim and fish in Duck Lake, pick wild raspberries, or walk north across the gravel road to Smith Lake Beach where we have kayaks, floaties, and canoes for your enjoyment. Portage your canoe east and you reach East or South Smith Lakes. The fishing is great. A bigger boat or pontoon can enter either Smith or East Smith at the Narrows of Smith Lake Road.

#4 Black Pond

RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 10 ft
This site requires walking over uneven ground and downed trees, but you will be isolated from the site of other campers. Since the overcanopy is thick, the communal firepits are the only place to cook your meals. Portage east to East and/or South Smith Lake where the fishing is great! Large Northerns, bass and some walleye, I hear. Go back to the grassy road and across the gravel road to join us at Smith Lake Beach. Swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and floating around. The WiFi is best caught on the hill.
