Nestled on 40 acres of private land adorned with ancient cedar, ash, and black spruce trees, our campground offers a serene nature retreat. Immerse yourself in the tranquil ambiance, where the melodies of wildlife fill the air, creating a symphony of natural sounds. Whether you're pitching a tent or parking your RV, we have you covered with carefully curated camping spots. Two tenting spots equipped with fire pits and cooking grates provide the perfect setting for a cozy evening under the stars. For RV enthusiasts, we offer 2 spacious spots complete with 20, 30, and 50-amp electric hookups, which are shared, (An RV extension cord is recommended) a movable fire pit, ensuring a comfortable stay amid the wilderness. Situated between the charming towns of Cohasset and Deer River, and just minutes from the bustling hub of Grand Rapids, our private property campground offers easy access to a wealth of outdoor adventures. Explore world-class fishing lakes, traverse ATV trails, or embark on scenic hikes through lush forests—there's something for every outdoor enthusiast to enjoy. Fishermen and women are welcome to park here as their base camp; RV style fish houses are welcome. Firewood will be provided, located in the small wood crib in parking area, mostly pine, birch and popular. *FYI, this private property has a cabin and outbuildings on it, and the owner may be there, as well as other campers from Hip Camp, while you stay. Special arrangements can be made for Privacy. At Tamarack Ponds Camping, we invite you to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect with the natural world. Spruce tree is a nice little site, perfect for a 2–4-person tent, comes with a private fire pit, and picnic table, has hammock poles, about 13’ apart, for a single hammock, the tent area is approximately 10 x 12, with more room to adjust, when pulling into driveway spruce tree will be to the right , look for the sign, you can park wherever works for you.

Raspberry Patch is a tent camping spot surrounded by Wild raspberry plants, a slightly larger tent spot, perfect for a 4–6-person tent, the tent spot is approximately 12x16’, and possibly another smaller spot , 10x10, with a private fire pit, and a picnic table, hammock poles which are 13’ apart, for a single hammock, a short walk from your parking spot. When pulling into the property, this tent spot will be to the right, you can park near the firewood crib and look for the sign that reads " Raspberry Path "

RV Site is a spacious area which is shaded part way through the day, you will be able to pull in as far as you can towards the big fire pit, and make a circle, then back up to straighten out, here you’ll find a choice of electrical plug ins, 110, 30, 50 amp RV plugs, a portable fire pit to move around to fit your needs. Firewood will be provided. An RV extension cord is recommended so you can reach the power box without issues.

2 adults, 1 dog we had the entire place to ourselves. We had a wonderful time. The amenities make this Hipcamp spot stand out (very clean, brightly lite and ROOMY outhouse, hand washing station, fire pit cooking grate(s), picnic table, large bench at site and free firewood). Watch out for rocks and small stumps when putting up your tent. This site and the other tent site have a short path between them which would be easy access for a group that needs 2 sites next to each other, but might be too close for others who want privacy. This site does not have any shade for midday sun so come prepared. We recommend this site!!

Excellent place to stay. I stayed at the RV site. Easy to get in and get out. Its quiet, peaceful, and I felt safe the entire stay. John is very friendly and a great host. I would not hesitate to stay here again and will do so next time I'm in the area. Thanks John!

This site was great! Very peaceful and relaxing. It is well maintained and everything was as advertised. It is especially helpful to have firewood included. It is good, quality wood and is located close to the site. I highly recommend this site!

Tamarack RV 2
Loved this place. I was in town for 1 night and stayed here in my SUV. The location was great, just a quick 2.5 mile bike ride into town for dinner. There was plenty of firewood at all of the sites. Even found a spot for the hammock near the for pit Host was very responsive to any questions I had leading up to the start and even while I was there. Will stay here again if in the area.
