Rustic and Comfortable Cabins. No power lines cross our property. We have no blaring screens to distract us from the sound of the wind in the leaves or to call us back to the whirl of modern life. But that does not mean we are without any comforts.
Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, hot and cold running spring water, indoor bathroom, and overhead LP gas lamps. Nestled in the forest at meadow's edge, Cold Spring Cabin has an outdoor shower and indoor tub. Perched on a hill near the Farm Pond, Ripley Hill Cabin has an indoor shower and tub.
The cabins are rustic, but clean and airy. The luxuries at Forest Echo Farm are not inside the cabins; they are found in the light that fills the forest in late afternoon, the silence of an evening canoe and the moonlit sparkle of dewdrops at midnight. We are dog friendly but request ALL dogs be on leash when near our house. We have chickens that are some times loose. If your dog should kill or injure one of the chickens plan on a discussion of the value of a pullet.

My land is easily accessible by main road, has ample parking, and yet cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, wildlife, fireflies and peepers are just outside the door. In the summer season, several organic farmstands and local picturesque swimming holes range between 5-15 minutes away. Autumn's glorious show is on display everywhere you look. Winter offers easy access to groomed VAST trails in the field behind the house and studio. Hopkins Center, AVA Gallery, the Lebanon Opera House, Northern Stage, and a wide array of restaurants are within 20 minutes. The Lyme bridge is now open, so there are more restaurants, trails, activities and the Dartmouth Skiway! Despite the proximity to town and even to my home, the simple studio space is serene in its sumac baby forest. The space is one of a kind, with a giant salvaged chapel window, cathedral ceilings, a candelabra, a clawfoot tub, a quirky outhouse, on-demand hot water, electricity and wifi. The site lists that it sleeps 4? But three is more realistic, and I cannot seem to change it. Also, we have 2 barn cats and the toilet really is an outhouse with an old quarter pipe as its roof.

Camping is provided by and in support of the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center, a 501 3C non-profit company. Located in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest, the Outdoor Center provides access to the Blueberry Hill network of trails, the Vermont Long Trail, The Catamount Trail, and the Moosalamoo National Forest Trails.

While there is an internet connection near the buildings, it may not be available at your site. Cell service is limited at best. You can drive your car right up to your site. Sites are a good distance apart. Site 1 and the Bed in the Shed are the most private. Site two is quite open and supports trailers.
For your campfire, you can forage for wood or request "bundles" to purchase (about a dozen hunks of wood) by the morning of your arrival, and we'll have it delivered to your site. Please note, wood from outside Vermont is not permitted.
We like to keep things quiet. No generators at any time.
Step outside your tent and you'll find a wealth of hiking, biking, and running trails. As stewards of these trails, your camping fees help support the efforts of this non-profit company. Nearby, you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Trail maps are provided upon arrival, and you can also view them online on our webpage at Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center.
The Outdoor Center offers snacks and cold drinks for purchase, including our inn-made chocolate chip cookies, chips, and cold drinks. Also available on site, at the Inn across the road on mornings we are serving, may be a full breakfast, pastries, packed lunch, and coffee. We are a maple sugar, beautiful farm with a majestic view of the mountains and sunsets.

We have 3 more sites for tents. There are 2 sites available along the west side of our maple forest, beautiful sunset views. Horses live at our neighbors, across the field from these sites and are beautiful to hear and see!
1 site , site #3. on the north side , with awesome morning sunrises glistening across the meadow. This site is excellent for parties of 2 - 8 with one or several tents. Tree hammock at this site, as well as 2 picnic tables and chairs.
Our newest tent site is #4 “Pine Hollow”. Very secluded under massively high pines. It’s the sugar-maker’s favorite. Sunset views are only 20ft away.
You can drive diagonally across field from Kozy Kabin to site #4 where the tall pines are, tuck your tent under the majestic tall pines , to the right of the Vast Trail entrance to the main forest.
Our cabin at Kozy Korner is popular for those that want the rustic life but a little comfort. It has a double bed , sheets and pillows available for you . Box with extra blankets is in cabin.
Comfy recliner inside cabin and actually one outside on the back porch as well.
One should follow the “ tent sites” sign, at the curve of our private driveway, drive straight up hill. Pass the 2 small apple trees, then a boat and trailor. Proceed a few feet further , passing 2 tent sites, then you will see the cabin, Kozy Kabin, at the top of the hill.
At the bottom of our driveway, Just 150 steps away west, turning to the right, across RT 140 just before our neighbors black mailbox, there is access to a refreshing swim hole in the Poultney River .
2 more swim holes along Rt 140 are “deep rocks” and “ flat rocks”. Quarter mile west of us is deep rocks, you can park along RT 140, at the guard rail. “Flat rocks” is at Morse Hallow Rd , about 1.5 miles east of us, also park along guard rail.
.Verlaska Farm is approx 2 miles to the Fairgrounds trailhead of Slate Valley Trails. Our farm is 2 1/2 miles from Poultney Village, where there are restaurants and a couple of awesome pubs, named Poultney Pub ( Tuesdays is bluegrass live music, various live music opportunities almost every night) . and Toads Burger Bar. Rail Trail Eatery and Perry’s Restaurants on Main St. have awesome breakfast and lunches.
Lake St Catherine is a “ stones throw” away, approx. 4 1/2 miles, south on Rt 30. LSC has a public beach area and some walking trails( mostly easy and flat)
Lake Bomoseen is a distance of 10 miles, north on Rt 30. The largest lake entirely in the state of Vermont!!!😊

Near our site is Green Mountain National Forest to explore. Blueberry Lake is just a short walk down our hill. Blueberry Lake is widely used year round for swimming, ice fishing, seasonal fishing, kayaking and canoeing.
Long Trail nearby
Bike trails/x country ski trails are connected right to our homestead. Continue on the trail and access some of the best mountain biking trails and snow biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking.
Sugarbush Resort is a 10 minute drive and is one of the best ski mountains in the area!
If you are looking for gym and shower facilities, you can stop into the Sugarbush Resort, just a short driving distance, for a day pass fee.

Cabin has a 2-burner propane stove and fully stocked kitchen (pots, utensils, etc). No running water or electricity, but cabin is stocked with 7 gallons of drinking water, plus a rain barrel for wash water. Separate outhouse with a sawdust bucket toilet and bucket shower. European style bedding provided on two camp-size mattresses upstairs: a bottom sheet, covered down comforter, and pillows. Tiny woodstove for heat, with tiny firewood provided. Fire circle outside for campfires.

The property is perfectly nestled near the Green Mountains and the White Mountains, with a swimming hole and river fishing available right in the backyard. Bike trails, walking trails and stunning motorcycle routes are all at your fingertips from the property. Village amenities, such as groceries, bike shops, convenience stores, cafes, restaurants, and laundromat are all in walking distance (about 1 mile or less). Lake St. Catherine State Park and Lake Bomoseen and others are close by for fun park activities, ice fishing, swimming. Visit a local winery (Whaleback Vineyard), see how maple syrup is made (Thrall Road Maple), shop the neighboring farm stands for local eggs, produce and baked goods. Close regional access to hunting, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating.
Leaf peeping is such a treat around the cabin. Blackberries and fiddleheads on the property! In the fall, feel free to collect crab apples from our 100+ year old former orchard. *When in season. Bring your rod or nets for trout and crawfish from the river. Bonus ideas: pool noodles or a pool floaty and some rope to relax in the current.
New additions: 6-seater triple hammock stand with built in picnic table. Fire pits and hammocks now at all sites! (Hammocks upon request in winter months at tent sites. Always available with cabin booking.)
Tent sites can accommodate multiple tents, for group camping. Multiple fields available for yard games. Can accommodate parties and celebrations. 10’x10’ or 10’x20’ pop up shade tents available to rent upon request. Excellent site for photo shoots, glamping, stargazing, sunbathing, leaf peeping, bachelor/ette, birthday parties.

Our property is nestled in the foothills of the Mad River Valley, close to the headwaters of the river. The property is composed of wetlands, agricultural meadows, old apple trees, and hardwood forest with 700 feet of elevation. All structures on the property are solar-powered and a rainwater system feeds the sink in the outdoor kitchen. There are a handful of individual camp sites available in the spring, summer and fall, as well as a communal outdoor kitchen with lighting, a fire pit, a stone pizza oven and a sitting/yoga deck. We also offer more of a "glamping" experience in our 14 ft yurt, which comfortably sleeps 2-3 people with wood stove heat and a solar battery for lighting. We love sharing this space with others and offering a rustic forest getaway.

Weekend Trip to Vermont Homestead
This is a true gem! We spent 2 nights there and absolutely loved it. The hosts were incredibly nice and helpful, and they provided everything we could possibly need. We enjoyed sitting by the fire, cooking on the excellent camping stove that was provided, enjoying the lovely sauna, taking long walks on the property, and hiking up Mt Ascutney nearby. The property is truly gorgeous (the pictures on the listing really don't do it justice) and very peaceful. Having the guest bathroom at our disposal was great too. We'll probably visit again.

Mount Holly Pilgrimage.
Jeep in the woods. An old cabin. Water from the land.
Food made with my own hands. Fresh fish. Dessert. Bare feet on the earth and mountains outside the window.
Nothing complicated.
Just living close enough to the land to remember something we make very easy to forget: food comes from somewhere, water comes from somewhere, and we come from somewhere too.
No noise to follow. No crowd to answer to.
My companion was the voice of righteousness.
For a few days, I wasn't just passing through the land.
I was walking barefoot on it, eating from it, drinking from it, and living with it.
I was a pilgrim when I arrived. I'm still a pilgrim now. And the pilgrimage continues.

Incredible stay -- we had warm sun on arrival and a rainy hike out -- both beautiful. It is charming, restorative, and peaceful. The bunks are twin (on top) and maybe full (on bottom). With just two of us, we used both sleeping mats on the floor which worked great.

What a lovely spot! If anything, go for stars and the sunrise. It was a fairly easy trek in. Very well maintained bike trails and a very fun stone staircase for hikers. Weekend Trip to Endless Grove
Courtney and Luke’s Gnome Cabin felt like something out of a dream. My partner and I had an exceptional time relaxing at the cabin. It was well equipped with everything we needed to stay for three nights. We spent most of our time reading around the fire pit taking in all the views. The property it was on was peaceful, stunning, and conveniently not far from town if we needed more supplies. Inside the cabin was super cozy and we enjoyed sleeping with the cool breeze coming through the windows. Cooking around the fire pit was fun and easy with the grill top that was attached to the pit. We plan on coming back as soon as we can!

We had such a wonderful stay at this cabin! It was the perfect little getaway for our family and made our Vermont birthday camping trip extra special. The cabin was cozy, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.

Visitor Center Closed
Unfortunately, I visited during the government shut down and was unable to get a bark ranger badge in the visitor center for my dog. There was someone working an event being held at the farm that day though, who was very nice and inviting. She recommended several beautiful trails for me to do with my dog.
