With the original home built in 1785, Milk Thistle farm is on the historic register and is comprised of the main house and 5 acres of land. It is run as a small non-profit animal sanctuary and is home to rescued chickens, goats, and pigs, as well as two humans and their dog and cat companions. The main property is fenced in and is closed off to visitors. We have two sites; the orchard to explore that can also double as hammock camping, as well as a small wooded nook. Both are next to the goat pen. There is parking for cars and bikes. We try to minimize our impact on the environment as much as possible, and encourage our guests to compost, recycle, and dispose of waste accordingly. Barbless hooks are required (you can file them off, let us know we can help). Adults are fly rod only, Kids 1st time fishing spinning rods are allowed but fly rods are encouraged. No is license required for the pond. The Brook requires an CT state fishing license and trout stamp to fish. Never fly fished... don't worry we can help. Check out addons below.

The octagon is a private 122 ft.² that is electrified and heated. It has a full size bed, cabinet and table with chairs. It sits next to a brook on 56 acres of forest with a pond, small waterfall, marsh and 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails. There is a fire pit and outdoor dining area next to the octagon. We also have a propane outdoor grill and propane two burner camp stove. Out house with composting toilet close to octagon is heated. A great place to rejuvenate in the forest! Dogs welcome.

Absolutely magical. The Yurt site at Getaway Ranch is one of those rare, special places that can heal your weary soul. The perfect balance of wilderness immersion and convenience. Will you hear some faint sounds of civilization in the distance? Yes. But, that's a fair trade-off for a FWD accessible site where you will fall asleep to the sound of barred owls and coyotes, then wake up to the beauty of the fog rolling off the river. Lot's of cool amenities. We definitely want to try our the Yurt site's cast iron smoker next year! Thank you, Karyssa!

I stayed for 1 night on a road trip from Nc to Maine then to the Cape. A needed a quiet place to sleep in my Outback for a night in-between seeing family and friends. I slept comfy and felt very safe. The place is set up really cute. I am a senior, solo traveler and would highly recommend for convenience, cleanliness, charm and safety.

Absolutely loved camping at Blackburn Farm! The farm setting was lovely and pristine. We loved the farm animals and shaded spot by the barn. The site is equiped with everything you need including 30/50amp power, water, picnic table and fire pit. Feels secluded and quiet while being minutes from all the Mystic area has to offer. The host was beyond gracious and knowedgable, providing awesome recommendations for Mystic as well as the future legs of our trip. I highly recommend this stay and hope to return!

Overview
About
Marvel at this beautifully preserved house of worship in Newport, Rhode Island. It's the oldest synagogue building in North America. Dedicated in 1763, the Touro Synagogue, or Congregation Jeshuat Israel, continues to serve as a thriving congregation.
One of the most historically significant Jewish buildings in America is also the only surviving colonial synagogue in the U.S. It's considered one of the 10 most architecturally distinguished buildings of 18th century America.
The synagogue faces east, toward Jerusalem. The interior is flanked by 12 Ionic columns to represent the 12 tribes of ancient Israel. Each column is carved from a single tree. Newport artist Benjamin Howland painted a mural depicting the Ten Commandments in Hebrew that hangs above the Torah ark.
Start your visit with a stop in the Loeb Visitors Center on site. You'll learn the history of the congregation that was founded in 1658. They were descendants of Jewish families who fled the Inquisitions in Spain and Portugal. In 1790, President George Washington penned his famous letter to the "Hebrew congregation at Newport." In it, he pledged that America would give "to bigotry no sanction and to persecution no assistance."
You can pay a moderate fee to tour the exquisite synagogue when it's not operating as a house of worship. The grandeur of the building and the historic significance make this national site well worth your time.
