Would it be to rest in nature and soak up the sounds and wonder of our wooded landscape, explore hiking trails and national and state parks, float down the Potomac, and/or visit historic sites and towns? Fern Yabin (a hard sided yurt) is nestled in a forest on a ridge (Elk Ridge) directly across from the Maryland Appalachian Trail. We are tucked down in a holler surrounded by streams, towering Poplars, wildlife and dappled sunshine. The land hosts some animals - a goat, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks while growing medicinal plants, seasonal edible berries/fruits (wineberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, mulberries, elderberries, vine kiwi, pawpaw, etc.) and rocks (plenty of them). There is a couple of acres enclosed with an electric fence where the livestock guardian dog (Luna) roams with the animals. We also sell farm fresh eggs. Fern Yabin is a rustic hard sided yurt style cabin that has hot and cold water, composting toilet, outdoor shower (cold water only), a indoor soaking tub, hot water kettle, an outdoor propane grill, ceiling fan, outdoor patio and fire pit, skylight, WiFi, and lots of character. The Yabin was a true labor of love built as a collective effort in community. There is a designated parking spot and a gravel path (moderate decline) that leads down to the Yabin. If you are a thru hiker, drop off and pick up is available for a fee. Please inquire upon booking. We are 10 minutes to the Appalachian Trail (Weverton Cliffs/Gathland SP and Crampton Gap) and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers (great for tubing/kayaking/wading/swimming). There are outdoor outfitters within 15 minutes where all kinds of wonderful adventures await including a brewery with a stunning vista of the river and area. We are 15 minutes away from historic Harpers Ferry. Antietam National Battlefield and other historic sites are within 30 minutes. For amazing dining opportunities and small city life - Frederick, MD, Boonsboro, MD, Brunswick, MD, Shepherdstown, WV and Charles Town, WV are about a 30 min drive. We are also close to several state parks in the tri state area (MD, VA, WV). About Tyme Farm is a 26 plus acre privately owned farm used for crops such as corn, soy beans and sunflowers. The property includes a 150+ year old stone farm house, large historic barn on the barn quilt tour in Carroll County, renovated camping cabin for those not into rough camping, fields, streams , woods for hiking, plenty of wild life and lots of quiet. The farm is surrounded by other farms in the agricultural preservation program yet you are only 5 miles from stores, movies, antiques and other aspects of civilization or entertainment if needed. Enjoy watching the deer come out of the woods and meander along the stream and fields at dusk and return in the morning. Electric, water, fire pit and a Port a Pot is available even for rough campers. Pets welcome but must be on a leash or exercise pen or with their owners in some way while here for their safety. There is a large fenced yard for dogs that just have to run if needed. Glamorous camping with a furnished heated/cooled cabin is available for rent by the night for those who do not have camping equipment or do not want to rough it. For those that have been camping before and have all the equipment there is plenty of room for a tent or camper near the buildings or by the stream or woods. For RV owners there is 50amp electric service in the barn. You will need an RV extension cord to access it. I have a 100 ft RV ext. cord but it can be farther than that depending on where you park. Bring one of your own to be sure. It is a farm and not set up like an RV park with numerous outlets.

Evensong Farm is a preserved historic farm adjacent to the Antietam National Battlefield. We have set up two, almost identical, sites on a 60 acre parcel of our farm which is very private for our campers, but allows access to the lovely Antietam Creek. The sites themselves are about 500 feet apart so, while they maintain privacy when booked by different parties, can also be booked together for group stays. We have been hosting campers at our "glampsites" since 2021. Each off-grid site has a 12x16 platform with a 10x12 canvas side wall tent, a firepit and chairs, a cooking area with a grill and sink for washing up, a picnic table and benches, and a private bathroom with a composting toilet and solar shower bag. The main tent is set up for 2 people, although 4 is possible. The sites can handle a max of 12 people, with the use of additional tents (BYO or you can set up some of ours). We provide an electronic camp guide to all of our campers that include our recommendations for things to do in the area, as well as camping tips and other handy info. Inside the tent you will find a queen size bed, side tables, and a cafe table and chair set. We have put down foam flooring and a carpet for your comfort and provide numerous battery powered lights, lanterns and fans. In cold months we can add a propane heater to keep the chill away. We also have some games, maps of the area, decks of cards, and a fire extinguisher. Stepping outside the tent you'll find our long rainfly creates a covered porch where you can relax on our provided chairs. There are additional chairs around the firepit and each firepit has a cooking grate so you can cook over your campfire. We provide one bundle of firewood (including kindling) per night with your reservation. We do sell additional firewood, if needed. In our kitchen area you will find a picnic table and chairs, 5 gallons of drinking water, a clean up table that includes a foot operated pump sink with an additional 5 gallons of washing water, a grill (one site has propane and the other has charcoal), trash and recycling bins, grill tools, lighters, plus dish and hand soaps. Our farm is a mile and a half from the town of Sharpsburg, MD, home of the Antietam National Battlefield (and Nutter's Ice Cream Shop). You will find the Appalachian Trail to our east and the C&O Canal to our west (10 minute drive to either).

This was our first stay in an RV and it was fabulous. It was well maintained, very clean, and had all of the essentials that we needed. It was a super hot weekend and the AC kept up the whole time. Pappy was an excellent host and was only a call away to answer any of our questions. The distillery tour and tasting was excellent and very detailed. If you are looking for a quiet and spacious place to go, this is it!

Gracie’s Place was great! Beautiful and peaceful view. Matt was super friendly and helpful! He met us when we got there and showed us around and helped us out with a few things we forgot! The shower in the cabin warms up immediately and was easy to use. The bed was quite comfy, and the little porch out front of the cabin was divine. The cabin was as described, just off of the host’s cabin but still a lot of privacy and peace and quiet. The trail to the cabin from the parking area and portajohn took a little getting used to, so definitely a good idea to plan your bathroom trips if you can. We were very close to state parks, town, and Harper’s Ferry Brewing, which provided fantastic drinks and views! Just enough amenities for a quick and spontaneous trip with our dogs (who loved exploring around the cabin with us). We will definitely be back!

We loved the yurt! It was very clean and had everything we needed. The fire pit was a perfect set up. During the day, we went on a nearby hike at Cederville state park, which was perfect since there is limited shade at the campsite. I’d recommend bringing an extra sunshade since there is only one umbrella at the table and has limited mobility. We definitely plan to return.

Where do I even begin! Nate and his crew were absolutely fantastic hosts!! I was not expecting the level of hospitality that they showed us, and we are beyond grateful! The camper was perfect, and the property was beautiful. My wife and son each caught fish in the pond, and my daughter fell in love with the barn cats. Nate's "night cap tour" of his distillery was fantastic and the care he takes in raising his corn and distilling his spirits shines through. I can't speak highly enough about how wonderful the entire experience was and my entire family can't wait to come back!

This is the best camping place I’ve ever stayed in It literally has everything you need, it was so nice to disconnect and relax in here, I am an artist and I never get the peace to just paint without interruptions but in here I even got inspiration from the land. The host is super nice, he met me and my sister at check in to show us around and make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. I felt super safe out there and I never felt like we were missing something. I will definitely come back! Also there is a lot of yummy places in that area so we were never hungry lol If you are reading this and considering staying just book it already!

I absolutely loved camping at grasshopper acres. The entire experience absolutely exceeded my expectations. Josh had everything prepared for us when we arrived, he was very helpful and pleasant. The outdoor camp potty was very clean and had plenty of supplies. The tent was very well prepared with cots, tables and a wood stove. It rained off and on the entire weekend that we camped. However, it didn't bother us because we had more than enough space inside of the tent. We painted, played games and just fellowship and enjoyed each other's company. It was an absolutely great experience and I can't wait to do it again.

Weekend Trip to Opequon Quaker Camp @ Rolling Ridge

The lodge was great for a mixed aged group and was well stocked for a place tucked in the woods. That said, some of the kids were not used to being surrounded by so much nature and had issues adjusting to sharing space with bugs. So maybe talk to them about the difference between hotels in a city and lodges in the woods. ;-)

Weekend Trip to Fern Yabin @ Tend to Me Retreat

We loved our stay in the Yabin! It was thoughtfully cozy and gave us the feeling of being closer to nature while still enjoying some “creature comforts”. The location couldn’t be better to take advantage of some hikes around the Appalachian Trail and Harper’s Ferry. We look forward to returning in the future!

Weekend Trip to Camps at Evensong Farm

Last year, I visited this site with my 6-year-old son and returned recently with friends, occupying both sites because we had such an enjoyable experience. The most common comment from everyone was "oh this is great!" and I wholeheartedly agree. Everything is exceptionally well-organized and maintained, with ample amenities to ensure a comfortable, stress-free, and enjoyable stay. The tents are spacious, with additional pitchable tents provided so there's no need to bring your own. The private, clean, and user-friendly outhouse and shower facilities are convenient. The kitchen and dining area are well arranged, and the host offers mess kits, cookware, and a large power bank for a small fee. The host is highly responsive to inquiries and communication. On-site hikes and scenic areas within a short drive add to the experience. A stream nearby offers pleasant wading, just a few minutes' walk away, and the two sites are easily accessible from each other. Located minutes from Harper's Ferry and Virginia/Maryland wine country, it’s an ideal low-fuss camping spot suitable for kids and well-behaved dogs. We plan to return frequently.
