Retreat to our tiny houses that look like miniature log cabins inside & enjoy the freedom of having the whole space to yourselves. Just like the kind in the TV shows, we built these last year. Our 18'x8' tiny house can sleep up to four. We are located right off of the main highway, in a campground/RV park ***off to the side in our own area where we have 4 tiny houses in total**. All are self contained and on grid with full electric & water. **No children under age 10 and not pet friendly**WE CLOSE THEM DOWN FOR THE WINTER FROM OCT 22, 2023 to MAY 1, 2024*** We are located exactly 2 & 1/2 miles north of the New River Gorge Bridge which is the edge of town of Fayetteville. We are close to the location that Airbnb put us, but due to West Virginia addressing it is the closest we could show on their map. Please ask us any questions you may have prior to booking about location, the tiny houses, activities, or anything!! ** No children under age of 10 and all tiny houses are not pet friendly** We love the location being 2 minutes from the New river and close to all national parks. The Gorge is an awesome site and we hope others enjoy are area as much as we do. Close to white water rafting and rock climbing areas too. Guests have access to the parking lot and the yards in back of the cabins. Feel free to bring a frisbie! Also have free access to free washing machines and dryers on the property as well. ***PLEASE NOTE*** Even though they can sleep up to 4 people, it may be very cramped inside with that many.**** Please note the tiny house is 18' X 8'. The first floor approximately 126 square feet including the bathroom. The second floor loft is approx. 80 square feet. Our water is city water on tap. ALSO, there are 4 of the tiny houses on that part of the campground. EVERY tiny house has it's own picnic table and fire ring. You will never share anything with any other tiny house guest. Built just last year, our 18'x8' tiny house can sleep up to four. **Our tiny house ceilings are low, with just 6’2’’ in the kitchen. Clearance in the loft is about 4 feet. There’s a steep, narrow ladder into the open loft, which has a small railing, and doorways are narrow at 24 inches wide.** We have 4 tiny houses in total. We are located right off of the main highway, in a campground/RV park ***off to the side in our own area***. All of our tiny houses are completely self contained and on grid with full electricity and running water. ***Please note*** Even though they can sleep up to 4 people, it may be cramped inside with that many.**** Please note the tiny house is 18' X 8'. ***IN THE EARLY SPRING AND AGAIN IN THE FALL UNTIL END OF OCTOBER**There is a space heater and also a wall heater. Please note that these may not warm up to 80 degrees or more*** ***PLEASE NOTE****The couch on the first floor has 3 sections that are stacked and are made out of a regular 8 " memory foam , full size bed mattress. The mattress was cut into 3 sections and each section covered. This can sleep 2 people but please note it is a full size mattress, not a queen size. The 3 sections lay next to each other & become a regular full size mattress on the floor. *****The fitted sheet included in the bedding will keep all the pieces put tightly together side by side*** Please ask us any questions you may have prior to booking if you are unsure. There is a regular home mattress that is queen size in the loft as well. Both are very thick memory foam, regular bed mattresses with all pillows and bed linens provided. The bedding for the first floor bed will be laid out on the couch when you come in. There is a folding card table and 2 metal folding chairs in the tiny house. The full bathroom has a shower, toilet, and sink. We include towels, toilet paper, and hand soap. Usually the towel sets are underneath the bathroom sinks. You will have access to the laundry building where washers and dryers are free to use. Kitchenette has a kitchen sink with running water, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and a hot plate. We include a Mr Coffee type coffee maker, filters, coffee and styrofoam coffee cups. We have one pot, one pan (which are specific to the hot plate), paper plates, paper bowls, plastic ware -knives, forks, and spoons, & plastic cups. We also provide liquid dish soap and paper towels. There is a television but no satellite, cable or local stations. Feel free to bring your own DVD player, games, etc. and cords. We do not supply cords for your devices. **Please Note** There is NO wifi. The entire New River Gorge area does not have a good service provider yet. Cell service in our area is usually very good for most carriers, as we are high up and off the main highway. Your cellular hot spot should work very well. Outside the tiny house, there is a picnic table and fire ring that you’re able to use to cook and push aside the grate later to sit around a fire. Firewood is for sale for $5 per bundle if you call the phone # on the door. They will deliver it in a short period of time. You may want to bring lawn chairs as I do not supply them. Also any outdoor cooking utensils would be good to bring as well. Love playing games? This is the place for you! More than enough space outside to play bags, horses, washers, frisbee, soccer, kickball...you name it! Ask me about our space! There is plenty of parking to include trailers and toys. Our tiny houses are along the side on the inside of a campground. Feel free to have a friend camp outside the tiny house. We have no parking rules, feel free to park right by your tiny house. **Our tiny house ceilings are low, with just 6’2’’ in the kitchen. Clearance in the loft is about 4 feet. We use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and the cleaning team wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination. We clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists. If you would like extra cleaning supplies, please call us, do not message or email. I have discovered a screenhouse is a great way to camp-a way to be in the elements but out of them. Presenting a 10x12 rustic screenhouse located near everything you want to do! Inside the "cabin" you will find a full sized bed, table and two chairs, and a countertop for preparing meals. Outside you will find a biolite stove and star gazing chairs. I provide filtered water, dishes, a single burner stove, coffee grinder and kettle, french press and an air/foam mattress and an electric generator. You bring your bedding and toiletries. Your own private shower and toilet are just a short walk in the main house. Walking distance to the New River Gorge Visitors Center and Bridge, Endless Wall and trails are just a mile away. The cabins are primitive, no electric or water. There are solar lights inside and and out also a propane wall heater for chilly nights. This is comfortable camping in the Beautiful Mountains of WV. What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. We also have three additional one-story cabins that sleep four guests on the same property, making this a great option for groups or family get-togethers. Please see the photos of these two-story cabins. They are separated from one another, and each has its own private outdoor area on the right side of the cabin. Each eight-person cabin has two twin beds in a common area on the first floor and six twin beds upstairs. As shown in the photos, the twin beds can be pushed together to make king-size beds or arranged separately in an L shape to create more space. First floor: 14' x 20' Second floor: 20' x 20' The beds feature regular home-style mattresses on wooden bed frames—they are not cots. The second floor is not a loft. Please note: All of the beds are in one room. There are no separate bedrooms upstairs. The kitchenette includes a built-in two-burner electric cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, and full-size refrigerator/freezer. We provide two small pots, one small frying pan, utensils, plastic silverware, paper plates, bowls, cups, coffee mugs, paper towels, dish soap, coffee, coffee filters, and basic kitchen supplies. However, you may want to bring your own cookware and dining items for larger groups. We are located exactly four miles (about four minutes) north of the New River Gorge Bridge at the edge of Fayetteville. Our property is just off Route 19 and one mile south of Route 60. Our actual location is very close to the one shown on Airbnb, but due to West Virginia's addressing system, it is the closest point available on the map. We are in the heart of the area's outdoor adventures, including whitewater rafting, ziplining, rock climbing, and access to national and state parks. Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway in rural, undeveloped West Virginia. Located in Monroe County, the Corn Crib is your own private, rustic cabin on 400 private acres. Enjoy rolling pastures, incredible mountain views, and swim in your own private, mile-long stretch of creek. This tiny cabin has it all: an off-grid lifestyle with on-grid amenities. Pets stay FREE. Purchased 25 years ago, Wolf Creek Preserve is a 450-acre private nature preserve. The Corn Crib is a former corn crib where corn was stored and dried after harvest. The structure's underpinnings and exterior layout date to the late 1800s, but it was first renovated in 2004 as a hunting cabin. The Corn Crib was transformed into its current tiny-home design in 2017, with additional improvements continuing through 2025. The structure was part of an old farm that included several buildings, including a Victorian home that once served as a stagecoach stop and hotel in the 1800s. The property sits along the banks of Wolf Creek, and we own most of the land surrounding it. There are long stretches of creek, pasture, and woodland to explore. This listing features a rustic, historic corn crib from the late 1800s that has been thoughtfully updated with modern amenities, though it remains a quirky and compact space. Please note that the A/C unit and heat pump are portable and located next to the loft bed. Guests sleeping in the loft must climb narrow stairs, which may not be suitable for elderly guests or those with mobility concerns. The water comes from a well, and we do not recommend drinking it. At times, the water may have a slight sulfur smell, so guests who are sensitive to odors should be aware. The smell is not always present but may occur occasionally. Starlink internet is available and provides excellent connectivity.

I stayed in the dorm style bed as a solo female traveler and felt completely safe. The property was easy to locate and the hosts were kind, responsive and easy going! Comfortable beds, showers were great, the shared spaces were perfect. I booked a second night before heading back on my road trip, definitely a great spot.

Weekend Trip to Shady Retreat

We had a fantastic stay at Lynn’s property. The location was perfect for exploring the New River Gorge area. We were just a short drive from both the park and Fayetteville, which made it easy to spend our days hiking, rafting, and checking out the local restaurants and shops. Even better, some trails are close enough to access directly from the property, so you can hit the trail without ever getting in the car. What really stood out was the care and thought that Lynn has put into the property. It felt like every detail had been considered, and she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Lynn was also incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived. You could tell from the way she talked about the property and the surrounding area that she genuinely loves sharing it with guests, and that enthusiasm made the experience even better. The property itself was beautiful, peaceful, and exactly what we were looking for in a weekend getaway. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting New River Gorge.

2 nights at Shady Retreat

We had such a nice, relaxing time at Lynn’s Shady retreat. She was the perfect host with recommendations for everything. Even though it rained for our entire will stayed dry and enjoyed our time. Sleeping under a tin roof in the rain was magical. Our stay included full access to: showers, flushing toilets, sink, electricity (in the house and an electric generator), a super cool Elcar camper with a covered porch, camp stove, fire ring, outdoor shower, dishwashing sink and more! The bed was comfy, we watched movies in the camper and got to pet the cats. It was well with the price, even underpriced in my opinion. Fayetteville was a really cute little town with great coffee, food and plenty of easy parking. Of course we loved being so close to New River Gorge National parks for hiking and amazing views of the bridge and river. We hope to stay here again! Thanks Lynn!

The host is very friendly and quick to offer the use of the clubhouse and kitchen facilities. The campground has a very laid back vibe. We rented the Idaho cabin and it was very comfortable. A floor fan and space heater are provided if you need them. We were there on a Thursday night and it was very quiet.

Weekend Trip to Hilltop Sunrise Camping and RV Site

The bunkie cabin at Hilltop Sunrise has genuinely been one of my favorite places I’ve stayed. The bunkie was homey and had all the necessities for our stay. It was the perfect mix of camping and comfort. Our host, John, was beyond kind, gave great recommendations for the area, and answered any questions we had promptly. I am already thinking of my next trip to WV and will absolutely stay at Hilltop Sunrise again!

Weekend Trip to Shady Retreat

Lynn's Shady Retreat was a perfect getaway for my partner and I. It was easy access to toilets and showers. The outdoor sink was an excellent touch. We loved waking up to the sights and sounds of birds. The biolite stove was incredibly easy to use. Lynn was very helpful and accommodating. We were a quick and easy drive to all activities I had planned. We would highly recommend this site and would love to one day come back.

Weekend Trip to Stay by the New River

Stayed here for my second time, just as impressed as I was after my first visit. The land is close to the National Park with proximity to and a beautiful view of the New River. With the heater and fan within the shack any temperature for sleeping can be found. The cots are comfortable and the bathroom is clean. Met the host this trip and she was very nice and accessible. There are chairs and a fire pit along the bank of the river that provide a wonderful sunset experience. Just know once the sun goes behind the mountains on the other side of the gorge it can get chilly, even on a warm day. I will continue to heavily recommend this site and plan to return.

Weekend Trip to Prayer Mountain

Spending a day and night at Brandon's A-frame cabin was a positive experience my partner and I will never forget. The cabin itself was cozy and stocked with all the essentials. The surrounding area is what really made for a memorable experience. We came in late, well after dark, and were greeted by a small persistent goat attendant who kept us company while we got settled. The next morning, we were greeted by several more, as well as peacocks, emu, pigs, and donkeys. We had no idea there were so many animals and were delighted to hang out with them all morning long.

Weekend Trip to Shady Retreat

I had a wonderful spring break camping trip at Shady Retreat with my daughter. The campsite was well-stocked with plenty of firewood, which made evenings by the fire especially enjoyable and stress-free. There was also plenty of great camping equipment available to use, including very comfortable chairs for sitting and lounging by the fire. The outdoor sink for washing dishes was a really convenient touch and made camp life much easier. Lynn was an exceptional host—she gave us plenty of privacy to relax and enjoy nature, while still being available whenever we had questions. Her recommendations for local hikes, scenic drives, and restaurants really helped us make the most of our trip. The bathrooms were clean and conveniently located, which made the overall experience even more comfortable. Overall, this was a peaceful, family-friendly getaway, and we would definitely recommend Shady Retreat to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.

All around 10/10 for the price you are paying. A bed to sleep on, solid roof over your head, and a bathroom with a shower. Can’t complain about that. It’s really close to Hinton and some really neat hiking trails. The host is kind and open. Only complaint that can be brought up is the railroad that passes right by the property a few times during the night but is nothing more than a minor annoyance. Gotta love trains. The view and direct river access is to die for. Watching the sunset over the mountains and looking at the river right infront of us was amazing. Sure it’s a little unconventional. But I fully plan to return and have already recommended this site to others.

We rafted the Lower Gauley as beginner rafters with the New & Gauley River Adventures and had a great trip! It was adequately challenging, our guide was great, and the scenery was beautiful.
