Loved Lynnâs place. Ideal glamping set-up, cute and well-appointed. We had everything we needed (fans, ability to charge devices, paper towels, filtered water, dishes, etc.) Super central to all the sites on the north part of New River Gorge, but yet was still quiet and private enough. Always such a relief to have a toilet and shower (especially after hot humid days hiking, which it was for us!) I donât know what I could sleep on the pad/platform bed for more than 2-3 days personally, but thatâs similar to sleeping right on the ground in a tent. Would definitely go back and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great glamping experience seeing NRGNP.

Lynn's Shady Retreat was a perfect getaway for my partner and I. It was easy access to toilets and showers. The outdoor sink was an excellent touch. We loved waking up to the sights and sounds of birds. The biolite stove was incredibly easy to use. Lynn was very helpful and accommodating. We were a quick and easy drive to all activities I had planned. We would highly recommend this site and would love to one day come back.

We had a fantastic stay at Lynnâs property. The location was perfect for exploring the New River Gorge area. We were just a short drive from both the park and Fayetteville, which made it easy to spend our days hiking, rafting, and checking out the local restaurants and shops. Even better, some trails are close enough to access directly from the property, so you can hit the trail without ever getting in the car.
What really stood out was the care and thought that Lynn has put into the property. It felt like every detail had been considered, and she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Lynn was also incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived. You could tell from the way she talked about the property and the surrounding area that she genuinely loves sharing it with guests, and that enthusiasm made the experience even better.
The property itself was beautiful, peaceful, and exactly what we were looking for in a weekend getaway. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting New River Gorge.

We had such a nice, relaxing time at Lynnâs Shady retreat. She was the perfect host with recommendations for everything. Even though it rained for our entire will stayed dry and enjoyed our time. Sleeping under a tin roof in the rain was magical.
Our stay included full access to: showers, flushing toilets, sink, electricity (in the house and an electric generator), a super cool Elcar camper with a covered porch, camp stove, fire ring, outdoor shower, dishwashing sink and more! The bed was comfy, we watched movies in the camper and got to pet the cats. It was well with the price, even underpriced in my opinion.
Fayetteville was a really cute little town with great coffee, food and plenty of easy parking. Of course we loved being so close to New River Gorge National parks for hiking and amazing views of the bridge and river.
We hope to stay here again! Thanks Lynn!

Lynn is the kind of host who makes you feel like a guest at a friend's home rather than a stranger's campsite. When an unexpected situation arose on my end, she responded quickly & went out of her way to find a solution. She even gifted me with some treasures from her property! Shady Retreat is the cutest, most adorable secret spot & you can literally FEEL the love Lynn has put into it. Highly recommend!

Everything was excellent!! Lynn had everything I needed and more for my stay. The location was beautiful and secluded and right next to the visitors center. Lynn had endless recommendations as to what to do in the area. If I ever come back to the area I will definitely stay there again. Also bonus! The floors of the site were squishy and felt great after a day of hiking.

I had a wonderful spring break camping trip at Shady Retreat with my daughter. The campsite was well-stocked with plenty of firewood, which made evenings by the fire especially enjoyable and stress-free.
There was also plenty of great camping equipment available to use, including very comfortable chairs for sitting and lounging by the fire. The outdoor sink for washing dishes was a really convenient touch and made camp life much easier.
Lynn was an exceptional hostâshe gave us plenty of privacy to relax and enjoy nature, while still being available whenever we had questions. Her recommendations for local hikes, scenic drives, and restaurants really helped us make the most of our trip.
The bathrooms were clean and conveniently located, which made the overall experience even more comfortable.
Overall, this was a peaceful, family-friendly getaway, and we would definitely recommend Shady Retreat to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.

I have been a Hipcamper for a few years and Lynn has been my best host by far! She is very friendly, inviting and informative! She will invite you into her home and treat you like family from the go. Get ready to also meet some cute cats!
She has put her heart and soul into providing a cool, safe and natural environment. The tree house and amenities are well planned out. There was a tour given upon arrival of the grounds and specifics of the tree house. Lynn has plenty of suggestions on how to enjoy Bridge Day and the area in general.

Lynn is an absolute delight! She greets you at your arrival to give a tour of the space! She provides you with lighting, cooking ware, chairs, grill/fire pit and wonderful company! My friend and I hiked every trail possible in the 3 days we spent there and always came back to a cozy, quiet space to relax at. Loved my first experience at the New River Gorge!! Thank You For Everything Lynn!!

Our first time camping and Lynnâs place exceeded our expectations. So peaceful, loved the gardening, and even woke up to deer in the yard. Great privacy and truly everything we needed. Perfect balance of camping and connivence. About 5 min drive to every activity we needed.

Camped overnight for a weekend trip to New River Gorge, one of the best hip camp experiences we've had so far!
Host was terrific, cooking amenities top-notch, comfortable bed, and friendly local cats.
Access to a full bathroom with running water was a blessing, and the space is beautiful.
Proximity to everything in the park is the biggest plus, you are next to EVERYTHING. 11/10, we will stay here again for sure.

We loved our time on Lynnâs land! Lynn is the most generous and knowledgeable host we could have asked for :) She had plenty of suggestions, tips, and ideas about the area, making our experience even better than we planned!
The place is a short drive or walk to some of the key spots in the area, but is quiet and peaceful.
