So when we married we moved to Washington DC knowing that in time we would make it west. 5 years later, when the traffic and the politics has taken its toll, we made a trip to Tucson and fell in love with this charming property that exudes all the beauty and grace of the Sonoran Desert. I've always adored the SW Hummingbirds and wanted to name the property La Hacienda Chuparosa. When we moved in, for the first week, every morning a hummingbird was sipping nectar from one of our plants in the front yard. We knew it was meant to be.
So we added a couple of horses to our dream, built some stalls, and now are ready to welcome you to La Hacienda Chuparosa. We know you will find the same magic here that we do.

The pad has a 30 amp/120 volt RV box and a 20 amp/120 volt GFCI receptacle. No converters are available at this time. No generator use allowed anytime. The space can accommodate the small Class A’s. The site is 40’ long. If your combination RV/ Tow Vehicle is longer than that then there is off street parking directly in front of the entry gate. This is a pull in or back in site only and not a pull through. ADA sidewalks outside.
Other things to note: This is a local residential neighborhood so no loud music or partying- quiet hours begin at 10p. Children must be supervised at all times. Dog owners must clean up after their pets- trash bin and bags are provided. Animal companions can be unleashed if kept within your enclosed area. No barking dogs left unattended in the fenced area. There is cacti in the garden so it recommended to wear shoes when outside. No restrooms available. Near several grocery stores, bus routes routes, and laundry mat in less than 1 mile.

What to expect:
We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote.
We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible.
We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time.
Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free.

Our Beach site has a domed 'chill zone' with heaters in the winter, comfortable chairs for relaxation and a great spot to let your dog hang out unleashed. All of our sites are fenced in, and have many, many cool amenities such as fire pits, sinks with fresh, pure water, table with 4 chairs, gas grills and lounge chairs/porch swing.

Some people come to check out the area to potentially move to the area and some only come for the winters. We also have a short little nature trail that we made ourselves. We are 30 minutes south of Tucson, 25 minute drive away from Madera Canyon/Coronado National Forest for some great hiking and bird watching! No light pollution so you can see the stars good at night. Remember the term sky island. Here in southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico, mountains seemingly come out of nowhere to dominate an otherwise flat landscape. Discover the five distinct areas of this national forest, all of which have their own sky islands.
Start your wanderings at Sabino Canyon. Steep rock cliffs and unique desert vegetation follow Sabino Creek, which maintains water year-round. Keep a sharp eye out for desert wildlife adapted for high heat and low humidity. Gila monsters may sun themselves on rocks, while bobcats sip from the creek's water.
Discover Miller Peak, the highest peak in the Huachuca Mountains. Wilderness surrounding the area comprises vertical cliffs and deep canyons. Beautiful spot nestled right where you want to be in Tucson. The host is super friendly and accommodating. The gate provides privacy and peace of mind while traveling. Our dogs loved running around and getting to relax outside the trailer. You’ll be close to delicious food and great hiking trails, and short drive from downtown. Hosts were super welcoming, available, friendly and helpful. The property was a little sanctuary oasis in an otherwise residential area, which surprised us when we first arrived as we thought it was more remote, but it really feels that way when you’re inside the property. Lots of beautiful shady citrus trees and flowery bushes. Our kids enjoyed the lawn area, swing, pool and play area so much, we didn’t do much else during our stay in Tucson besides enjoy right where we were. Also enjoyed walking the dirts roads and the Mountain View.

We loved Camp Saguaro so much our one-night stay turned into three! Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, no generators, beautiful landscaping and private sites. Also a birding paradise! We stayed at the Magical Mushroom and enjoyed the flat space to park our minivan, table and chairs, fire pit, and the adobe mushroom for hanging out. Camp hosts Leslie and Mark were kind and take great care of the property. Pristine bathrooms and hot showers! The mercantile is stocked for locally made art and sundries. We highly recommend this unique desert oasis & hope to return on our next SW roadtrip.

This was such a great spot to stop and spend the night. We had our own site that felt secluded, but you could still see your neighbors campsites. The showers and bathrooms were super clean!

My tent space was roomy and well separated from neighbors. The building with bathrooms, hot showers and a dishwashing station was not only wonderfully functional but a work of art also. Great location and friendly hosts also. Loved it.

Mik's place was great. Beautiful setting, easy access, and he was very responsive. It's a nice, safe neighborhood with enough privacy to be very comfortable. Be sure to enter the address into your map rather than relying on the pindrop location to get there.

The place is beautiful, really easy access, the bathroom area is sparkling clean as well as all the other areas, including camping, parking and amenities.
Camp Saguaro is perfect por stargazing, a good night sleep and connecting with nature, family and/or friends.

Jennifer & Dave are awesome hosts at a great secluded spot not far from Tucson! My roommate and I spent a night visiting from the Phoenix area and upgraded to a bunkhouse upon arrival - Jennifer was quick to have it set up, and man, the beds and bedding were great. We ended up chatting around their fire until nearly 1am. The couple is very familiar with their locale, too- They recommended some fun places around their area and around the city that made our exploration all that much better. I would absolutely recommend spending a night at Mesquite Haven!

The view was great. Mik was friendly and helpful. We got to watch sunset over the beautiful desert and were seranaded by coyotes. We will definitely be back !

A forest of saguaros!
It’s all about the cactus trees here - the saguaros are magical and spiritually towering over the healthy ecosystems of critters and fauna. SNP is a MUST SEE - and the hiking trails are accessible and you can see all around you the whole way - 360 panorama! Less than 5 miles from camp!!!

Small but cool
Small park with a one way driving loop road. They do have hiking trails but not a lot of parking at them. We found all the parking areas were full just prior to sunset, so if you’re coming to watch sunset be sure to arrive early to claim a spot. We actually enjoyed just driving the loop as we did arrive late and it was too hot to hike, but the whole thing can be seen in under an hour if you’re not getting out and exploring.

Gem of a National Park
Very small but beautiful national park! Would highly recommend being there for sunset and/ or sunrise. I would also highly recommend going in the winter months when the weather is cooler and the rattlesnakes are in hibernation.

Saguaro Nation Park - in my heart!
I’m usually more of a mountain and pine trees park kind of girl, but Sauguaro NP was so much cooler than I thought it would be! It was also a surprisingly accessible park for people with mobility issues. We visited both the West and East parks - each have their charm, both have driving loops and accessible friendly walking paths.
The west is teaming with saguaro cacti growing everywhere - it’s so amazing. The driving loop is a dirt road but very drivable for cars. And the east has a multitude of seasonal flowers and cacti and a paved driving loop.
We kept saying that the west was visually cool and interesting, and the east was a more manicured with flowers and such. They both had their benefits and were worth seeing!
Definitely recommend you visit! This park has me appreciating the desert so much more than I thought I ever would.

Beautiful and accessible
Beautiful park. Very accessible even for those unable to do a challenging hike - there are several short, paved trails. You could even enjoy the park without leaving your car. There are some beautiful scenic drives in both the east and west portions of the park.

The park has a lot of Saguaros, some of which are quite large or in an interesting formation. There are trails along the ridge with a great view of the surrounding area. I came in late December and the weather was excellent, not to hot nor to cold. I did not see that much wildlife, but there were some birds and squirrels. I liked the area in general.
