The dark night skies in this area may just keep you at camp. You can see every star out here and enjoy the escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. With wide open spaces you have so much room to play.
The road to the property is about 0.8 miles and is considered dirt rugged. It will require you to so down under 5 miles an hour in a few places. You have the entire road to travel on and maneuver around the big bumps. I drive my car to the property ever time and don't have an issue if I slow down and go around large holes. If there is a recent storm in the area the road will be difficult to navigate.

40 acres of primeval Juniper forest, with trees dated at 1200 years old, create the perfect solitude getaway. Camping here in Coconino County north of Ash Fork and Seligman, down 10 miles of isolated dirt road - this is far enough away to feel remote and surrounded by nothing but ancient trees. Yet there are many cool destinations not far away: Once you get out to the highway, Williams is 30 minutes away so you can plan you visit to the Grand Canyon or ride the Grand Canyon Railway. Another 30 minutes in that direction to reach Flagstaff with its skiing, nightlife, observatory, and eclectic culture. Continue exploring and you can visit the red rocks of Sedona, the natural caves of Peach Springs, and the crystal-blue waterfalls at Havasupai.
While you're camping, enjoy the peace and quiet surrounded by meadows and ancient Juniper trees. Bring your fifth wheel, camper, toyhauler, or even your tent. Bring as many friends with you as you'd like - there's plenty of space. Sit around a campfire of sweet-smelling Juniper wood while you roast marshmallows. Depending on the time of year, hunting may be in season, with Deer and Elk. Remember that hunting is permitted if you have a valid hunting license, on the adjacent mile-wide parcel of State Trust land sprawling out to the west of the property.
Roads are accessible most of the year with just about any kind of vehicle - as long as the weather is nice. So be sure the check the weather report or almanac before planning your visit. If the weather is dry, just about any kind of car, truck or trailer can make it down the 10-miles of dirt road to get to the property. If rain is on the calendar, you're going to need 4-wheel-drive and clearance. The dirt roads develop deep mud patches that can mire most cars or trailers. There will also be snow in the wintertime - so plan accordingly for mud, ice, and rough roads. But most of the year is easy as long as it's dry!

Hawks Hideaway offers 8 campsites suitable for tents of all sizes, many of which can accommodate two or more tents (additional fees may apply). We also have a large, unfurnished teepee, and are working on a cozy, furnished country cottage. (ETA Sept 25). Large trailers and RVs are NOT allowed.
Nearby activities include: bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, stargazing, and rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.
We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.
You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please do not interact with any wild animals. If you encounter something and need help, please reach out to us. We live on the property and are readily available.

Our sunsets and night star-gazing are just spectacular and we're enough off the beaten path that there's no crowds or traffic to deal with, but you are close to dining and area attractions.
This is a quiet, rural neighborhood and a peaceful farm that borders the National Forest for easy hiking and few neighbors. The farm animals do cluck, crow, whinny, neigh, baa, bleat, squeal, and oink at various times, including early morning.
There is one mile of a somewhat bumpy gravel road with hills to reach our neighborhood, so please make sure you are ready for that and have adequate towing power. The nearest services and dining are 5 minutes away. We are about 25-30 minutes to Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek,
and the popular red rock hiking sites. There are many wineries and dining right down the road to enjoy.
1 hour to Flagstaff, 2 hours to Phoenix.

We are a family-owned RV park and tiny home village located 50 minutes from the east entrance to Grand Canyon National Park and only 20 minutes north of Flagstaff, Arizona. Our family -- Adam, Shelley, Zoe, Ava, and Cairo -- purchased the RV park in 2021. **** WE NOW HAVE A CAR CHARGING STATION**** The property was a trading post for decades but had fallen into disrepair. We have been busy painting, cleaning and improving the grounds to become a comfortable oasis for your family. Our location on US Hwy 89 on the east side of the highway is only a few miles from the breathtaking aspens of Lockett Meadow, the ruins of Wupatki National Monument and the lava flows at Sunset Crater. The park is a short drive to downtown Flagstaff, and on the way to the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Moab and Durango. Stay the night or as long as you like! Drink in the hibiscus sunrises above the Painted Desert and relax into the long shadows of the San Francisco Peaks. Let us know if you want to borrow a telescope to explore the darkest night sky you have ever seen! We are excited to share our home with you!

This is the place to be for Big Dark Skies. Horizon to horizon views, no neighbors, and no big cities nearby. As the listings say, also no amenities, and the dirt road is rutted (but not very long). It is very pleasant if you come prepared. I got some great milkyway photos with a DSLR and deep space photos through a telescope. There is just a hint of sky glow from Valle and from Flagstaff but it is very localized on the horizon.

Clifford is absolutely wonderful he attends to your every need plus he makes a place feel very safe and secure. I sometimes travel alone and it's nice to know I can lay my head and put my stuff aside for the night because I'm taking care of. Ladies, if you need a place to stay to feel safe, I highly recommend this place Plus it's absolutely gorgeous and some of the best stargazing you won't ever get.

Sacred Springs is truly one of those places that stays with your heart long after you leave. From the moment I arrived, I felt wrapped in peace, love, and nature’s magic. Being able to cook a meal in the community room made everything feel so homey and special — like gathering with family in the middle of the wilderness.
One of my favorite moments was getting to use the kayaks and paddle boards on the lazy river and in the grotto. Floating through that serene canyon water felt like stepping into a hidden paradise. And don’t even get me started on the fresh organic chicken eggs — absolutely delicious and such a beautiful touch of farm-to-table love!🍳
I also couldn’t resist the adorable Sacred Springs hat and sweatshirt — they’re not just cute, they feel like a little piece of this magical place I get to take home with me.🥰

Clifford was great. We arrived after some heavy rain, so there was a bit of mud on the drive in that Clifford warned us about beforehand, but didn’t have a problem with it even in the Class C RV. Quiet place, nice view.

I've camped here twice and the facilities are very clean but the campsites are tight together. The camp hosts are so sweet and amazing! The gas station and diner across the way are nice if you're missing a few small items or for coffee but it's expensive and not well stocked.

I was on a solo road trip and found my way to the Grand Canyon. I don't know what I was thinking...that I could just roll in and find a tent spot in the park without booking a year in advance...so I was extremely happy to find this campsite within a short drive to GCNP. It was not that crowded, as in I was able to arrive mid-afternoon, in the middle of the summer, and find a nice shady spot no problem. There are lots of trees and the campsites are a pretty good distance apart. I would highly recommend this spot because it is so close to GCNP, but you don't have to deal with booking so far in advance or the crowds. I will be returning next summer for sure!

Great place to camp in the summer as nights are cool due to high elevation. The Bathrooms were very clean, and we felt the campsites were fairly average when it came to spacing (not to close together, but then again not very private). Big trucks & cars drive along the road by the campsite all night/day so it can be noisy-try to get a spot on the opposite side of the entrance to avoid this. About an 1hr. away from the North Rim & is a pretty, scenic drive.

An older campground with small sites, spaced close together. However the fishing in this Lake is the main draw, unless you come out with a bunch of people who want to party, I would choose another campground & just go there to fish....

We camped here in June, Site 53, which we Thought we were Lucky to get as it is Right on the lake. Turns out that the wind comes Roaring Dow the lake, right through that site, which is quite exposed! It as So Windy we couldn't sit outside at all- Very Frustrating!! The Campground itself is Extremely Beautiful & quiet, with sites widely spaced but mostly back among the pines & spruces. The lake itself is really nice, but as for fishing, we didn't see ANY FISH CAUGHT in the 5 days we were there? Must be it hadn't been stocked lately. Otherwise a Very Nice & Isolated camp ground...

Jacob Lake CG had clean facilities and a very attentive host. Don't expect much privacy though... The sites are pretty scrunched together and it's located right next to a loud, busy road. There's a gas station and diner within walking distance if that's your thing (diner food was meh...). All in all it was a perfectly fine place to spend the night, but didn't offer much else aside from its close proximity to the Grand Canyon North Rim. (tent camping // one night // october)

Pleasant Surprise DeMotte was! Plenty of elbow room btw sites. Nice views. Deer foraging in the nearby woods. Walking distance to General Store and Kaibab Lodge Dining Room. No showers, though. Must explore the Forest Service back roads. Well maintained, and go to places you'd never think about, even the Grand Canyon, without going into the Nat'l Park. Great Find!
