The Historic L.C. Ranch can accommodate up to 5 RVs with full hookups & WiFi, including 3 sites with 50 amp electrical service,
We are not accepting tent or car campers at this time of year.
The L.C. Ranch was the second largest Cattle Ranch in American history.
In its heyday around 1900 it was over one million acres.
Today the cows are gone, along with the vast tracts of land and the cowboys that managed the herds.
The Lyons and Campbell Ranch Headquarters remains as a time capsule of an era past. The extensive adobe compound includes the 27 room adobe mansion of Cattle Baron Tom Lyons and his wife Ida Campbell, along with the fabulous Old West Saloon, Jail, post office, bunkhouses, Theater and Chapel. In the summer months enjoy the great swimming pool, and in the spring and fall enjoy the Mimbres design hot tub. Our RV sites are closed in the winter, but our Airbnb apartments are closed in January only.
The Theater has just added a video cinema system to its live performance capabilities.

There is a lot of history here, and for just $10/person you can take the 2 hour tour of the historic grounds.
The L.C. Ranch is located in the tiny village of Gila, just 30 minutes from Silver City, right off U.S. 180 on NM Hwy 211.

Near Silver City, New Mexico, the Historic Lyons & Campbell ranch is in the tiny village of Gila in the lush Gila river valley in the otherwise arid Mountain Southwest. Dog Friendly! (Cats? Not so much, better keep them inside your RV at all times). This massive 60 room adobe compound dates from 1810, is one of the oldest houses in the southwest and was a million acre ranch, the second largest in America back in its heyday from 1880 to 1920, and includes a museum, theater, Old west Saloon, Chapel, jail and two apartments "Inn at the L.C. Ranch" in Gila, NM, available for short term rental on a!rbnb.
5 RV spots with full hookups, AND Wi-Fi. 20 or 30 amp, are $40 per night for up to 2 people. 50 amp for $50 per night. Additional guests are $10 per night, and up to 6 people per site. Hook ups include sewer, electric, WiFi and water connections, and access to the swimming pool, Hot tub, Old west Saloon and Gallery. Two night minimum.
Swimming pool is open May thru September, Hot tub is currently off-line due to rennovations.
NO FIREWORKS! Please! We are relaxing our fire ban to allow charcoal or gas BBQs, and fully screened portable fire pits, if it is NOT windy. We do not supply these. There is plenty of firewood here, but you will have to cut/break it to usable size. Please be careful.
The authentic old west Saloon, Historic Main House, Theater, Gallery, Jail are all available to tour, and for workshops, retreats, Weddings, groups etc. The two hour guided tour of the museum in the main house, the "adobe mansion" of Cattle Baron Tom Lyons, is $10 per person for RV guests.
The swimming pool and Lanai are located near the Sunset Site, RV Site #3. It will handle any size rig, 65'+, 20/30/50 amp. Big fifth wheels, Class A or C Motorhomes, no problem. It is our only pull through site. The Lanai by the pool has BBQ, pizza oven, sink, refrigerator, music, games, croquet, darts...
Site for Sore Eyes, #4, is a smaller site with 20/30 amp electrical service. It is a "back in" site suitable for Class C, CamperVans, and smaller travel trailers.
The other two RV spots are a short walk away, about 150 feet. Site #2, Gemini Site is good for up to 65', pull in, perfect for any size Motorhome or big rig, 20/30/30/20 amp with a unique double rig pedestal that allows a second 30 amp rig to hook up at your descretion. It also has its own shaded picnic area and picnic table. 4" sewer connection.
Site #1 has a full tree canopy over head, perfect for Class C or Travel trailers. "Back in" site, 20/30/50 amp, water, 4" sewer and wi-fi.
The Mimbres design hot tub is located in the bath house between the two RV locations. It is wood-fired and available on request. (currently off-line due to rennovations) It takes all day to heat it up and it is NOT recommended on windy or freezing nights as it is quite exposed. There is also a bathroom with flush toilet at the pool, along with fridge, BBQ, Wood fired pizza oven, misters and bar in the Lanai, and a guest laundry with an indoor shower nearby in the Spanish courtyard. There are additional bathrooms in the Saloon and the Theater.
Karaoke at night in the old west Saloon used to be a regular occurrence on weekends before covid, let's see if we can get that going again this summer. The Saloon is equipped for live music as well, with guitar and bass amps, P.A. and electronic drum kit. The Saloon as well as the entire property is BYOB. The Saloon is not open to the public and has no liquor license. We like it this way.
Wi-fi is available at all our RV sites, and is best in the Saloon and Gallery. We have just installed new Wi-Fi extenders. Cell phone service is sketchy, some people with Verizon or T-Mobile get service. It's best on the observation mound. Discounts for longer stays...

At 26 miles away and at an elevation of 6,000 feet, Lyman Lake State Park is one of the best ways to beat the Arizona heat with summer days hovering in the 80’s and 1,500 acres of water to jump into. The behemoth lake can be experienced along shoreline trails where petroglyphs grace the rocks and jackrabbits scurry through the wildflowers. But let’s be real, you came to get wet! There’s plenty of splish splashing to be had; jet skis, speed boats, canoes, and kayakers all share these waters. There’s no better way to take to the lake than skimming the surface on an innertube. Anglers can enjoy the quiet west end of Lyman, word is the walleye and bass hang here in the no wake zone.

Silver City, has a population of about 10,000.
Gila's remoteness makes it an especially popular spot for stargazing. Amateur astronomers like to journey out to Gila's 3.5-acre Cosmic Campground.
This Dark Sky Sanctuary features unobstructed, awe-inspiring 360-degree views of the heavens. There are minimal amenities here, but they
include telescope pads – made of concrete so that you can setup your
own telescopes for casual or focused study. You'll never think of space in quite the same way after seeing it from here!

We arrived at this beautiful property at the end of 2023 and have since worked diligently to create a space that we and others would love. Our location boasts a stunning views with hills all around and beautiful views of both sunrise and sunsets. We're working on adding showers and hot/cold plunge tubs for your enjoyment. Notably, we have a composting toilet that efficiently turns waste into fertilizer in just 3 weeks! We have two very sweet dogs that are off leash that may come up and say hello. If that is a bother please let us know in advance and we will try and accommodate your preferences. The property is accessible using 2WD, weather permitted, and when it is muddy or snowy we offer shuttle services.

This was the perfect secluded getaway! Quite rural area with plenty of space to walk dogs and amazing historical buildings. The saloon is a great space to kick back and read a book or play a game of pool. There is also a theater on the property which can be used to watch movies. Alex and his 3 dogs are very welcoming. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

Great location. Flat, accessible sites. Was a perfect stay for us in our sprinter and my sister in her Class C. Loved the saloon and original historical house though we ran out of time to do the tour. Next time. Alex our host was fantastic, friendly and a fount of local knowledge. Highly recommend and will hope to stay again.

Alex, the owner, was great. Our site was under huge elm trees and therefore we had lots of shade. Alex’s 3 big dogs were very laidback and sweet. We took the 2 hour tour and were amazed at his knowledge of the Lyons, Campbell’s and the history of the ranch. The family has collected furniture, art and artifacts from all over the world which were amazing. The ranch is nice and quiet. The weather was rainy and therefore wasn’t conducive to a swim but the pool looked inviting. The wood fired hot tub and showers weren’t available when we were there but are a work in progress. The restrooms were a little primitive inside the saloon but were clean. Our grandson enjoyed playing pool inside the saloon. Understand that the ranch and buildings are very old and you shouldn’t expect it to be pristine. Consider it an experience not to be missed. I’d go there again and the tour is a must!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the L.C. Ranch over the 4th of July weekend.
We had full, drive-thru RV hookups. We had access to the pool, toilets, a shower, and a washer and dryer, along with other amenities, if need be. The westward views from our spot were breathtaking. We enjoyed our pop-in visits every now and then from Alex's three dogs. Alex took us on a fascinating two-hour, historical tour of the ranch. We liked being close to Bill Evans Lake and the Catwalk.
If you're looking for a place to visit a little off-the-beaten-path, this would be it. We definitely recommend a visit!

I found the campground peaceful...exactly what I needed. The host expressed a lot of joy in the ranches robust history that got me super interested to take the tour of this wonderful historical ranch. My dog loved chasing geckos and making friends with owners' dogs. Overall, a great time.

Had a wonderful stay. all the necessary hookups were provided. Host was very friendly as were his dogs. We had one that came to greet us every morning and say good night every night. History was interesting wish we had time to take the tour. Enjoyed the pool, can't wait for the hot tub, will be back.

The vibe, the host who is fantastic--the perfect combo of friendly and allowing space, the place itself, a beautiful old adobe ranch, some parts under renovation, with old roses in bloom. The setup worked well with good water, and electric and RV septic, all well maintained. I stayed in site 1, the canopy and it was wonderful to park under the massive elm trees. The dogs are very sweet. Highly recommend and do take Alex's tour if you can.

This was a great spot. Nice shade tree. Easy parking and not to close to the other site. The views were pretty and wide open. There was not much noise except birds and cows. Alex was a great host and we enjoyed the history tour the ranch. We even had a drink at the bar (BYOB) and shot pool!

If you appreciate history and a quiet scenic place to stay this is the place. We feel fortunate to have experienced this special place filled with history. The buildings have endured many years of neglect, however through the dedication of the recent owner and his family they have taken on the task of repairing and reviving the past for future generations. It is a work in progress, but they have thoughtfully worked to create a time long gone. The Saloon is amazing and they turned an old delipapidated ice house into a stage theater. All of these are available to rent for special events. We had the pleasure of attending a chamber music concert, which was attended by local residents. We thoroughly enjoyed it along with meeting and chatting with some of the locals. We also took the tour, which is a behind the scenes look at the history of this place. There are a few RV sites with full hookups and accommodations available on airbnb. In the warmer months there is a pool, grill, and patio. There are no stores or gas stations, only a library & post office. If you are looking for the ultimate getaway from the hustle & bustle of life this is it. We highly recommend seeing and experiencing this special place while you can.

Alex was very friendly and knowledgeable about the unique land that the sites are on. The area is BEAUTIFUL and the cows grazing in the green pastures were peaceful. Alex has two big dogs that are just so lovable, like two big teddy bears. Loved it and would definitely stay there again!

I had a wonderful time camping here! It's like taking a step back in time! Alex is an awesome host and is so knowledgeable on the history of this amazing property. He went above and beyond to make sure I had a great trip! He's a great orator and is a natural for storytelling! The spot was beautiful and very conveniently near the bathroom and showers. I will definitely return because I haven't toured the theater yet! Thank you, Alex, for a great trip! I highly recommend the tour, it was amazing!

This is a great campground, on our way there it rained but we managed to arrive before night fall. It is deep in the forest and it is very secluded. I did call and talk to the ranger who gave me directions and also told me the best time to arrive so that I could get a spot. Sunday afternoon when the weekend campers were leaving, He was correct.We only spent one night there and it was very quiet and only a few other campers were there.
There is no cell service!! So be prepared to be cut off from everything. It is well kept and clean. Unfortunately when we left all electricity was out in the local towns, so we had to wait a couple of hours to get diesel. But we waited at an RV camp and filled the water tanks and dumped for $18.00

Super kick butt place. Lots and lots of Elk, Turkey, Great Fishing. No no cops come by. Good water. Local rancher has great bud for tip trade. We stayed two months. No issue.
Go east up canyon past farm house. All public. Lots a camp areas with water. Three hot springs about three miles in. Hot springs are our thing. Come join the Party

I have camped here several times over the past ten years. The campground is large with only 10 designated sites all with good separation and a bit of privacy. Every site could be occupied yet I still have the feeling of not being crowded at all.
No water, No host and No Fee. Pit toilets.

Beautiful free campground on the way to the Cliff Dwellings. There is NO potable water on site. There was a trench latrine that was well maintained, but you have to bring your own water source. Unless I missed the spigot or something.

Its pretty and its free but it was also insanely loud when i was there, with an ATV trek around the camp ground and RVers playing cowboy music till 3 am.. i would go again but I would camp far out of earshot of the main area.

Great campground! Quite large and well groomed for free camping! There is a little gas station to re-fill on conveniences should you need them, otherwise it feels very secluded. Don't expect cell service!

This campground is really nice and Lake Roberts is beautiful. There's a little store nearby so you can stock up on ice etc as needed.

I don't think you have to be part of a group to camp here. When I visited there were several groups but plenty of space. There are little spots scattered everywhere you look. I love all the grass here!

On the plus side, Bighorn is convenient for exploring the Catwalk Recreation Area. It wouldn't be my choice for scenery. The campground is basically a parking lot with a vault toilet. The sites look worn & tired. Shade is a little sparse. If you need a place for 1 night close to Glenwood it's just fine.

Quite the drive, but extremely worth it. Very secluded spot of two primitive campsites. No water, but there is a vault toilet nearby and picnic tables. Great spot to listen to the creek babbling nearby and watch wildlife in the surrounding area. A 4WDis recommended as the road to the campsite can be challenging especially after a storm. This is bear country so make sure to lock your food up in your car, truck, or hanging cache. There are no bear boxes at this site.
Overall this is a great campsite to do some hiking, pan for gold (seriously!), or just kick back and enjoy the peace and seclusion.
