Just search left from the towers. A fantastic campsite built by independent outdoor company @hetchyoutdoors This is a remote, private campground with a canopy, picnic bench and fire pit that relieves you from the crowds of hotels and RV campgrounds in the area. There are no predators or threats to worry about at night, just the the most stars in the sky you've probably ever seen. Views of the National Park to the south and only a 15 minute drive to the North Gate.

Learn more about this land:This raw land property, right at the edge of the Petrified Forest National Park, gives you amazing views of and walking access into the park (with an already purchased entrance pass) to the ancient Puerco Pueblo and the stunning views of Newspaper Rock. Cell reception in the area is decent. I had access to TMobile data from the property the last time I was there though not all areas of the park have the same luxury. City folk (like it seems I have sadly become these days) often forget what a beautiful starry night sky can look like. One clear night here and you'll see a sky full of stars, the milky way, planets and maybe a shooting star. As a International Dark Sky Park, the parks nightscape falls on the Bortel scale of 3 (1 being darkest and 9 being brightest). For more info go to www.nps.gov/pefo/learn/nature/darkskies Outside of the Petrified Forest National Park in Holbrook, we recommend visiting Jim Gray's Petrified Wood Co. and the Navajo County Historical Society Museum. Nearest gas can be found at the Painted Desert Visitor Center or west down I-40 toward Holbrook at the Hopi Travel Plaza. In Holbrook, groceries can be found at Safeway and local restaurants include Camaleon Cafe, Butterfield Stage Co. Steak House and Mandarin Beauty and host of other Mexican and American restaurants. Trucks do come down Adamana Rd to the storage facility during the week though you probably won't hear or see them much. The train can be a bit loud and obnoxious for some (or a something exciting for the kids) depending on how frequently it passes through so ear plugs at night may be advised. Escape to the untamed beauty of Arizona's high desert at our wild camping spot and RV park, three hours east of Phoenix. Nestled amidst the stunning vistas of the desert landscape, this hidden gem offers an unforgettable outdoor experience. Hike, stargaze, or unwind in this pristine desert setting. Whether you're an adventurer or a seeker of solace, our campsite promises an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Centrally located: Our camp sites are only 10 minutes away from the nearest country store, where you can stock up on all of your essentials, or a quick 20-minute drive into the town of Snowflake, where you can grocery shop, bar hop, or have a delicious meal at one of the local restaurants. Arrival: Be mindful that it may be more difficult to locate in the dark. Please try to arrive while there is still daylight to ensure proper arrival. The sites are located about ten minutes down a dirt road off the main highway. The road is a bit bumpy, but high clearance and off-road vehicles are NOT required for arrival, but may be recommended if camping during the rainy season. Nearby Parks: Our campground is a one-hour drive from Petrified Forest National Park and a four-hour drive from the Grand Canyon National Park. The Space: We have the space to accommodate vehicles and groups of any size. We offer pull-through sites for RVs and campers and a drive-through road for tents and car camping. Please note that it does get quite windy in this region.

This was a gem of a place to stay. Bruce and little doggo Lester Proudfoot were welcoming and gracious hosts. The sky gave me glorious sunsets and sunrises, and dark starry nights to look for the mysteries of the universe. I had a wonderful and restful time. Thank you, Bruce!

We absolutely loved our stay on Elena‘s land. It was so peaceful and quiet. There is so much wildlife and the meditation trail was super relaxing and inspiring with So many beautiful touches along the trail. We were able to go take a walk in the field out the back gate, and there were lots of cattle in the area that were not disturbed by us at all, and they just minded their own business. It was really awesome being able to spend some time alone and to get grounded again in a very natural environment. The views are spectacular from the countryside to the stars at night. Will definitely consider staying again in the future. Thank you.

Really enjoyed staying here. It was totally off the beaten track and very peaceful (bar the occasional train you don’t really hear any manmade sounds at all). I don’t think we could have camped any closer to the national park. Having cows as neighbours made for a pleasant addition. I would very happily stay here again - and may well do so, as more of the park to be visited.

This remote campground is on a dirt road for abut a mile. I was able to access it in my Promaster but it would be easier with a truck due to the deep sand once you get off the driveway to the campsites. The host was quite accessible when I had trouble finding the place and he talked me to it over the phone, he was very patient with me.

This site was so enjoyable. There was rain that made the drive out difficult in our RV but the host made sure to give direct instructions to help us get their safely. The site was spacious and memorable with the views. The most unique site to stay at in the area.

Looks like a road you shouldn’t be on. Train ran by every 15-30 minutes just 50 yards from the fence boundary for the Petrified forest park where this camp spot is. It’s a small drive to the Park’s north or south entrance. 2wd is just fine. Room to stretch. Trains were loud and awesome! For $15/night we will look it up again.

We loved this spot!! Beautiful wide open space with a nice table / overhang, bathroom and some fun yard games. And we were so glad to be right near Petrified Forest National Park. It was a bit tricky to get there, but Ken talked us through every step and even spent extra time setting up alternative paths (it had rained) and putting out reflective poles so we could find our way. We really, really appreciated his extra care and hospitality and would love to stay again next time we're in the area! To note, if it's rained recently, we would recommend a high clearance / 4-wheel drive vehicle, but if conditions are dry, we hear you can navigate the road in a Prius!

Gravel road to get there. 2.8 miles of it. Once there it was a wide open space. I ordered firewood. So glad I did. We had a guitar jam by the fire that was epic. Really felt the backroad of America vibe. We stayed 2 nights. 🎈

The directions were very easy to follow! The road is a bit bumpy in some areas so a high clearance car is what I would recommend, but our 2WD sprinter did just fine! The property was very private and quiet, and my daughter loved seeing the all the cows. The cherry on top was the ending the night with one of the prettiest sunsets I’ve ever seen.

Nani was a remarkable host. Her land is quiet, clean and very pretty. She took the time to drive and meet us and escorted us to her campground. Each spot has a fire pit, picnic table and pad for tents. A really cute outhouse is in between the sites. She has built everything herself, which is quite impressive. She's a carpenter. I do want to note that it is a 9.5 mile drive down a non paved road. It is very ruddy and washboard. We've been boondocking for 7 years and have been on some challenging roads. But, if you are somewhat inexperienced or have a vehicle that isn't equipped for it, you should be aware before attempting. However, it was definitely worth the stay. Beautiful property, very kind hostess and super quiet.

This place was incredible! We loved every second spent on the property. It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, even though the interstate is 5 miles away. Paula provided more than enough firewood, and a porta-potty within walking distance of the site. She stopped by in the morning to check on us, but aside from that, never saw another human. It was incredibly relaxing. Just a quiet night under the stars. The last portion of the trip is a bumpy dirt road, as others have mentioned, but I had my truck fully loaded with equipment, and never felt the need to move out of 2WD. You won’t need a 4x4 to get to the property. You WILL however want some daylight to make your way to camp, obviously.

We had a great time at the UFO Hill campsite and Bruce was a great host! Definitely recommend if you like to have a unique camping experience and hear some cool alien stories. The campsite has small flashing green lights which don't turn off at night, but they shouldn't affect the stargazing experience unless you are a hardcore astronomer.
