This is a primitive campground that I want to share with others. It’s a beautiful property located on the bank of the Rio Grande River with access to the river at all times. Although it’s a bit rustic I want to keep it as natural possible. I hope you will come enjoy this native area as much as I do.
Hatch, NM, the Chile Capital of the World, is just 14 miles north. come during chile harvest to take home fresh green chile right out of the field.
21 miles from Las Cruces, where you will find plenty of events and entertainment, should you so desire. Spaceport America, T or C, White Sands are all within a day's drive, and Fort Selden is just a few miles down the road, as is Blue Moon Bar and Grill.
My dad first came to this property as a farm hand for the elderly couple who owned it. This was in the 1930's. He met my mother, who lived 6 miles down the road, in 1939. She was just 14. Every Sunday he would ride those 6 miles to have supper with her and her family and in 1940, 2 weeks after her 16th birthday, they married. They traveled around before coming back here, buying a small portion of this farm from the elderly owners and farming the rest for them. In 1953, the man died (his name was Ernest Ward) in the small concrete house I now use for storage, that my dad had built for he and his wife when he first came to work for them. My parents built a home for his widow in Hatch (14 miles) and bought the farm from her. My family has owned it since. I was gone for 31 years, but returned to the land and place I love and plan to stay here till I die!

Bosque del Rio Camp is situated on the Rio Grande between Elephant Butte Lake and Caballo Lake, bordered by over 15,000 acres of surrounding public open space. The setting offers a quiet, natural river corridor with beautiful views and direct access to the Rio Grande.
River conditions vary seasonally. Peak flows typically occur from May 1 through June 30. Water levels are much lower in summer, fall, and winter. Guests planning to float the river should plan for early-season visits.
Bosque del Rio Camp is privately owned and lightly occupied. The host may occasionally be on-site in a separate RV, but the setting remains very private and quiet.

There are curtains and sun blockers for privacy. When you wake up in the morning you will watch the sun rise over Turtleback Mountain. 1 block away is the Rio Grande and Rotary Park. It's 4 blocks to the main. Located in the downtown area and hot springs district, the property has a well that draws out the hot springs at about 98 degrees and pours it in to an outdoor tub- perfect for a warm winter day or summer evenings. It can be reserved for an additional fee upon arrival. 4 blocks from the downtown area you can easily access other spas, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, thrift shops, and the grocery store. Wake up in the morning, walk down to the river and you'll see heron, coots, osprey, sandhill crane, red wing black birds, and so many more wildlife. The coyotes regularly sing throughout the night. I tend the property and you may see me around if I need to do light repair work. There is a care taker for the property who lives there and may be another guest as well. The property is 1/2 a city block. Your living quarters are private but the land is shared space. I'm available to engage if desired and I respect your privacy. The property is 6 city lots large and you will have access to 4 of them. Dogs are allowed for an additional fee. You must be responsible to clean up after them and they must be friendly with strangers.

This is a primitive campground that I want to share with others. It’s a beautiful property located on the bank of the Rio Grande River with access to the river at all times. Although it’s a bit rustic I want to keep it as natural possible. I hope you will come enjoy this native area as much as I do.
Hatch, NM, the Chile Capital of the World, is just 14 miles north. come during chile harvest to take home fresh green chile right out of the field.
21 miles from Las Cruces, where you will find plenty of events and entertainment, should you so desire. Spaceport America, T or C, White Sands are all within a day's drive, and Fort Selden is just a few miles down the road, as is Blue Moon Bar and Grill.
My dad first came to this property as a farm hand for the elderly couple who owned it. This was in the 1930's. He met my mother, who lived 6 miles down the road, in 1939. She was just 14. Every Sunday he would ride those 6 miles to have supper with her and her family and in 1940, 2 weeks after her 16th birthday, they married. They traveled around before coming back here, buying a small portion of this farm from the elderly owners and farming the rest for them. In 1953, the man died (his name was Ernest Ward) in the small concrete house I now use for storage, that my dad had built for he and his wife when he first came to work for them. My parents built a home for his widow in Hatch (14 miles) and bought the farm from her. My family has owned it since. I was gone for 31 years, but returned to the land and place I love and plan to stay here till I die!

Bosque del Rio Camp is situated on the Rio Grande between Elephant Butte Lake and Caballo Lake, bordered by over 15,000 acres of surrounding public open space. The setting offers a quiet, natural river corridor with beautiful views and direct access to the Rio Grande.
River conditions vary seasonally. Peak flows typically occur from May 1 through June 30. Water levels are much lower in summer, fall, and winter. Guests planning to float the river should plan for early-season visits.
Bosque del Rio Camp is privately owned and lightly occupied. The host may occasionally be on-site in a separate RV, but the setting remains very private and quiet.

There are curtains and sun blockers for privacy. When you wake up in the morning you will watch the sun rise over Turtleback Mountain. 1 block away is the Rio Grande and Rotary Park. It's 4 blocks to the main. Located in the downtown area and hot springs district, the property has a well that draws out the hot springs at about 98 degrees and pours it in to an outdoor tub- perfect for a warm winter day or summer evenings. It can be reserved for an additional fee upon arrival. 4 blocks from the downtown area you can easily access other spas, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, thrift shops, and the grocery store. Wake up in the morning, walk down to the river and you'll see heron, coots, osprey, sandhill crane, red wing black birds, and so many more wildlife. The coyotes regularly sing throughout the night. I tend the property and you may see me around if I need to do light repair work. There is a care taker for the property who lives there and may be another guest as well. The property is 1/2 a city block. Your living quarters are private but the land is shared space. I'm available to engage if desired and I respect your privacy. The property is 6 city lots large and you will have access to 4 of them. Dogs are allowed for an additional fee. I was the only camper on the grounds and enjoyed the peaceful solitude. I enjoyed the company of some birds that we don't see in the east. The only negative was that I was expecting the riverbed to actually have water in it. Carolyn informed me when I arrived that there won't be water flowing until they release water from the dam in May.

Luwana and Jack are welcoming & accommodating hosts. The property has a homey feel & is surrounded by hills in the Mimbres River Valley - a nice change of pace from the hustle & bustle of Silver City.
The spacious site is level with easily accessible water, 30 amp hookup & trash barrel. There's a dump station at a nearby RV park. The brand new Dollar General is a game changer for the area & is surprisingly well stocked.

We really enjoyed ourselves at Kevin’s. His property is absolutely gorgeous. It was quiet and peaceful and a nice break from the more crowded campgrounds. Although he wasn’t there, he communicated well and answered questions I had. We didn’t use the hot tub because we stayed pretty busy, but it looked very nice. If you go, you will be very impressed with his landscaping and use of solar lights. Very cool place!

The location was convenient. It was quiet and felt safe. The yard was not visually appealing, but there was a nice view of the mountains. I could hear a rooster, but it was far enough away as to not be bothersome.

We had a wonderful time in TorC and loved our stay in the Winnebago. It was so cute and well decorated and had everything we needed and the host was wonderful, met us at the gate when we arrived, showed us around, and gave us some good recommendations for the area. This was our favorite accommodations on our cross country road trip. Thanks so much!!

Kevin has created a beautiful and welcoming space. It is near walking paths not to mention his private and calming rock paths throughout the property. It is within a day drive to White Sands National Park & the amenities of Las Cruces. Thanks for a great stay, Kevin!

Carolyn went above and beyond for us. We booked a last minute spot due to some really bad weather. The land is so beautiful and her vision for what’s to come is exciting. The space was level which I’m so thankful for after a bad night elsewhere. Unfortunately the river was low but that is out of her control as the damn has to be opened. If we ever pass through this part of the country again we will for sure be back for longer than a night.

A beautiful place to stay right on the Rio Grande. If you want to see water in the river, go after May 1st as that's when they open up the dam. It was still a beautiful spot, and we can't wait to come back to see all the things Carolyn has planned for her little piece of heaven.

Carolyn’s land is a peaceful spot right on the Rio Grande. The view across the river is stunning. I enjoyed having a picnic table and spigot. The icing on the cake was host Carolyn. She popped over shortly after I arrived, touched base to let me know of another camper who’d be showing up, helped me out when I got myself into a pickle - and even waved good bye. Her home is across the road - plenty far away for privacy, yet close enough if you happen to need something. I was there during a dry, windy March time. Definitely check out the slot canyon hike down the road. Also an easy spot if you have pups along.
