1972 Winnebago Convert to Tiny Home

Learn more about this land: Relax and be inspired during your stay in the renovated Winnebago at, The Western Star. This is a quaint, cozy space designed and decorated with a mix of natural materials, old desert wood and old metal found on the property or nearby. There are 2 beds (full and a twin), 10 ft sloped ceiling, sink with cold running water- no hot water, flushing toilet, mini-refrigerator, electric 2 burner stove, toaster oven, heater, plates, forks, cups, cookware and electricity. There are curtains and sun blockers for privacy. When you wake up in the morning you will watch the sun rise over Turtleback Mountain. 1 block away is the Rio Grande and Rotary Park. It's 4 blocks to the main.  Located in the downtown area and hot springs district, the property has a well that draws out the hot springs at about 98 degrees and pours it in to an outdoor tub- perfect for a warm winter day or summer evenings. It can be reserved for an additional fee upon arrival. 4 blocks from the downtown area you can easily access other spas, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, thrift shops, and the grocery store. Wake up in the morning, walk down to the river and you'll see heron, coots, osprey, sandhill crane, red wing black birds, and so many more wildlife. The coyotes regularly sing throughout the night.  I tend the property and you may see me around if I need to do light repair work. There is a care taker for the property who lives there and may be another guest as well. The property is 1/2 a city block. Firepit. I put things I need burned in the firpit. If there is anything in there you can burn it for free. I provide bundles of firewood for $12 or singles for $2/ log. Hose close by. No large flames.

Flush toilet. Only small amounts of toilet paper can go down at one time. Low flow toilets.
Pets allowed
Off leash. Must clean up after them, keep them off the bed and they MUST be friendly with other people an other dogs. Add on pet fee during booking. NO CATS- sorry but too many allergens.

We had a wonderful time in TorC and loved our stay in the Winnebago. It was so cute and well decorated and had everything we needed and the host was wonderful, met us at the gate when we arrived, showed us around, and gave us some good recommendations for the area. This was our favorite accommodations on our cross country road trip. Thanks so much!!

Underwelmed and overstimulated

Host where friendly and welcoming, however camp was more crowded/condensed area than expected. Hot water was limited to non-existent. Little to no private rest area. Difficultly closing door lead to feeling of lack of security or privacy. Fridge was broken and rusted, and the heater did not work well to keep space warm (breaker tripped in middle of night).

The photo in the ad made it look new and modern. It was not. The unit was dilapidated. Not up to my expectations. It was comfortable and suited my needs. The Caretaker, Shawn (sp) was very nice and helpful..

Host was really nice and bed was comfortable. While the location is well situated to access town quickly, the lot itself is a bit rough and the surrounding areas felt sketchy. Once I got over the shock of arrival, I admit it was a pleasant stay.

I loved staying at Jennifer’s. Best mattress ever and the area is very quiet. Sean the caretaker was super helpful. I’ll return for sure!

Fun “glamping” experience

This stay was pretty good. I did expect there would be a bit more privacy on the lot, but the host was helpful. Beds are comfy, once you get the hang of all the amenities you have everything you need for probably 2 people max. I would be happier with this stay if there was more usable space on the lot, there’s a lot of ??? throughout the property, but basically we came to enjoy the town, the springs, and the river, which this stay provided.

Once we got over the initial shock of the scary looking site, the camper itself and the thoughtful and clever amenities and decorations that Jennifer provided were great! The photos of the trailer itself were just as on her post, but the beautiful landscape photos included in the post were not from the land where the trailer is located. When you first arrive, it has the feel of a junkyard. But I loved the trailer how she had decorated it, etc. I would stay again, but my husband would not. But keep in mind that we are 68 year olds, so our opinions may not be shared by younger people!

All the amenities are there, but it’s a bit rustic. Very good as an off leash area for your four legged friends….no tub to soak in although it was listed on the description. It’s close to town and the on site host was very friendly and nice.

Jennifer’s converted Winnebago was fantastic, tons of charm & convenience & kept us out of the wind. Jennifer got us situated after hours on short notice which we really appreciated. Camp host Shawn met us as we pulled in & gave us the lay of the land. We really appreciated being able to bring our pups. Such a great stay, we slept well, enjoyed a hot breakfast, said good bye to Shawn, who was a great host. Highly recommend the experience!

Amazing little camp! Caretaker was amazing and very helpful. He talked to us about all kinds of topics and gave us loads of information for us as we are starting an off grid homestead. Buildings all repurposed and made new. So many cool ideas came to life here. Must check this one out. Rio Grande river park is 3ish blocks away

My only complaint is that the hot water heater was out and I was not informed before my stay. Great location, private parking, and dog friendly. Beware of the goats head stickers on the property. Caretaker Shawn was very nice and helpful but did not hover. Huge bonus in my book. Stay here for a no frills eclectic experience.

Shawn was so helpful and gave us space to settle in and enjoy the spot. My son loved the little hang out shed outside the camper. The bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get up. We were seeking peace and relaxation and this was more than perfect for us. My 4 year old asked if it could be our new home. His opinion matters to be above all else so getting his approval is getting mine. We will absolutely be back.

Super convenient and enjoyable experience for our one night in T or C! Loved the little library to read under the stars. Caretaker was very kind- met us right when we arrived and had the AC set up and running. Perfect amount of space, and really cute and cozy!

Loved this place! So cute and the instructions were so easy with the help of Shawn!! The town is adorable and there were great amenities close by! Highly recommend, if given the option I’d pick this spot again and again!

The Winnebago is really a nice little tiny home that has eveything you need. The bed was comfy and the manager was really friendly and helpful. The bathroom with shower was very clean. If you visit in summer prepare for it to be hot or make sure you don't spend any time during the day there. Our AC wasn't really working well and so it was over 100° inside the Winnebago. At night the AC worked better and with the windows open we were able to cool out down enough to sleep. The bed was really very comfortable as others have mentioned. Unfortunately, we also noticed the sewage smell which came in through the sink. We put a towel and a pot filled with water over the hole in the sink which helped. You could make a fire there, but we didn't. The outside area is nicely set up with couches and lights. It didn't really feel like camping though because the Winnebago it is located in a mini trailerpark in Truth or Consequences. The upside is that you are really close to the center where there are many art shops and cafes.

We really loved the set-up and the caretaker who let us in, gave us some history of the place and helped us settle. However, as others mentioned already, the toilet situation made it very uncomfortable for us to stay there. Throughout the night, there was sewage smell in the room which was very unpleasant for sleeping. If you are sensitive to all this, I would not recommend renting it.

The Winnebago is amazing! The ac works well and the bed is so comfy. The manager on site was kind and welcoming, and overall it was a great experience. The location is great for being able to walk to the town center, or for walking to the river. Communication with the host was easy and prompt.

Our stay in the converted Winnebago was extraordinary! Shawn is an excellent caretaker with great recommendations and insight into the beautiful and tight knit community of TorC. The property is located a two minute walk from White Water Weekends, the Rio Grand Tubing experience everyone must try and just around the corner from the main shops. The only downside to our stay was that we couldn’t remain longer!

The rustic and creative aspects of reclaimed materials to create this space made it very unique and enjoyable! A very nice space! Located in a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood, with ample privacy, while being situated beside neighbours within the property- made the experience all the better, as you got to experience the local life! Shawn the caretaker of this space is an absolute gem of a human! Clean and well kept space made it an entirely enjoyable experience!

We really enjoyed our stay in the tiny home- everything we needed was provided: little kitchen area, utensils, nice bathhouse (hot showers!), wifi, and an outdoor common area. Location can’t be beat either; very close to hot spring options and Rio Grande! We liked being in the middle of everything. Shawn was great too! He gave us recommendations for T or C and was always available anytime we needed help. Excellent service and he was just a pleasure to converse with. Tink the lovable pup was the cherry on top of a fantastic stay!

Unique Camping Experience

This was a last minute booking and the host was amazing! We had the best time in NM and the overnight stay in the winnebago topped it off! Its not fancy but it was cozy and unique and has everything you need for glamping. Thank you for hosting us and making a unforgettable evening with laughs and memories!
