Vegan, vegetarian, kosher, low-sodium, and most other dietary restrictions are no problem! We'll bake you a birthday cake, brownies, pie, or even Crème brûlée! Chef Üdø maintains current local food handler's certification, as well as HAACP federal certification. Prices are friendly and competitive with local restaurants. Vacuum-sealed frozen meals, aka “sous vide” available for most recipes.

We feature unparalleled views of the sunrise over the mountains, as well as convenient access to Lincoln National Forest, White Sands National Monument, BLM off-road parklands, and nearby Alamogordo. Firewood available onsite for friendly prices (provided there isn't a current burn ban).
Additional onsite and backcountry packages are available, including fully-catered backcountry excursions in the Lincoln National Forest, wildlife spotting tours, photo tours, and even backcountry drive-in movies are available! My dad first came to this property as a farm hand for the elderly couple who owned it. This was in the 1930's. He met my mother, who lived 6 miles down the road, in 1939. She was just 14. Every Sunday he would ride those 6 miles to have supper with her and her family and in 1940, 2 weeks after her 16th birthday, they married. They traveled around before coming back here, buying a small portion of this farm from the elderly owners and farming the rest for them, but in 1953, the man died (his name was Ernest Ward) in the small concrete house I now use for storage, that my dad had built for he and his wife when he first came to work for them. My parents built a home for his widow in Hatch (14 miles) and bought the farm from her. My family has owned it since. I was gone for 31 years, but returned to the land and place I love and plan to stay here till I die!

Larry is a wonderful host and his camping spot is beautiful! Convenient location that was shockingly quiet. The quarry trucks that Larry mentions in the description did start to go by around 6:30am, but we were camping on a weeknight and were grateful for the heads up. Overnight when it counts, all we could hear were distant coyotes. Highly recommend!! Thanks, Larry!

We really enjoyed ourselves at Kevin’s. His property is absolutely gorgeous. It was quiet and peaceful and a nice break from the more crowded campgrounds. Although he wasn’t there, he communicated well and answered questions I had. We didn’t use the hot tub because we stayed pretty busy, but it looked very nice. If you go, you will be very impressed with his landscaping and use of solar lights. Very cool place!

This RV site is great. The camp sites were clean and everything worked appropriately. There is WIFI for the entire camp site. It worked well and we were able to stream the Super Bowl online. The pull-through sites had plenty of space. There is a lounge area for guests and was very spacious and clean. We would definitely come back to this place.

Chef Udo’s property was a wonderful experience. The setting is peaceful and welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious. Every meal is prepared with care and incredible flavor—you can really feel the passion behind it. We had the brisket nachos, brine chicken, chocolate cake, and cookies. A truly memorable stay and a must-visit for anyone who loves great food and warm hospitality. Chef Udo was genuinely happy to make sure everyone has a good time. He let us play with his glow in the dark bocce ball set, while waiting for dinner.

My stay at the smokehouse was genuinely a once in a lifetime experience. Chef-Üdø was SO accommodating, communicative and welcoming; the property felt well cared for and safe. Camping on Chef's property was a unique experience. As you might expect, he is a great cook, and it is rare to have a hot meal served to you when camping. It can be a bit of a challenge to coordinate the timing if you don't know when you might be getting into camp, but things worked out OK. He is a knowledgeable host with a clear passion for the outdoors.
There are no regular camp sites in white sands NP, so this is about as close as you can get and there are other recreational possibilities in the nearby mountains. Chef has great plans for improvements to his site, such as a shower building, and he has a glamping tent available, but for now I had to make do with a shared table in contrast to other hosts that tend to offer individual picnic tables. There is a bathroom tent, but fires were not permitted when I was there. Much of the camping area is bare dirt.
When I was there in winter the weather was mild with some wind, but I am told it can be more windy at times.
Noise is a concern, there is noise from the road although it will die down late at night, noise from trains, and noise from roosters owned by nearby neighbors. On the positive note, I was able to observe a rare missile test at night with an interesting exhaust tail. Bringing ear plugs may help.

the road coming in was pretty rough, we made it through but it was kinda scary while driving on in our 25 ft class c RV. just a heads up, go slower than you think you need to!

Regan’s land was convenient to White Sands National Park and nearby town for necessities. The area was cleared, flat, with picnic table and a fire ring. The road to get there is long and bumpy but that’s to be expected given the location. The view of the mountains is beautiful. We camped in a ground tent there for one night, it was all we needed! I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

An awesome site extremely close to Oliver Lee Memorial State Park, Alamogordo, and White Sands. It was a great combination of remote and private while still being a short drive to any destination. The site provided a picnic tabe, fire barrel, hammock rack and portable toilet. There were excellent views of the sunset, sunrise and night sky. I highly recommend it and will be returning on future trips.

White sands is one of the smaller, more self-contained parks. The weather in early January was good. The sand looks like snow and was cool but not cold to the touch. It is nice viewing the dunes with mountains in the background. It is bright enough you will want sunscreen and sunglasses. The main activity is sledding, although the it can be challenging to find a dune with a slope steep enough and long enough, many people seem to enjoy it. I did not see much wildlife at all when I was there.

Lovely but get there early!
Beautiful and lovely place to hike with dogs. Get there early to avoid the crowds. We got there at 7 and there were about 20 cars alongside us. By noon, the line to get into the park was 100+ cars on either side of the road! Highly recommend downloading the NPS app for notifications on traffic and whatnot.

The park itself was absolutely gorgeous. It felt like a scene out of a movie! You absolutely have to go during the sunset. My partner and I gave ourselves a hour to complete the dune drive, and climb up a few dunes to watch the sunset. I will say the restrooms at the visitor center were so gross. The gift shop is small, nothing crazy fancy. It was odd because the employees working there were in sweatshirts?? They didn’t look like NPS employees really. But none of that even matters. The park was so beautiful. Definitely recommend!!

My favorite place in the U.S. I loved watching our 10 year old son run through the sand as the sun was setting. He even slid down some larger hills on a board. We have the best pictures ever of that time, especially with the sunset right before the park closed.

White sands
Whitesands is amazing just bring a sled. And you'll get wax when you get to the park. It's so much fun you can cook out while playing in the sand
