Vacuum-sealed frozen meals, aka “sous vide” available for most recipes. New to Hipcamp, but want to share my beautiful property with others. Located on the bank of the Rio Grande River with access to the river at all times. Property is rustic now, but improvements will continue to be made as time goes on. Come help me develop this beautiful location into the best Hipcamp in New Mexico. Just 14 miles of the Chile Capital of the World, Hatch, NM, come during chile harvest to take home fresh green chile right out of the field. 21 miles from Las Cruces, where you will find plenty of events and entertainment, should you so desire. Spaceport, America, T or C, White Sands are all within a day's drive, and Fort Selden is just a few miles down the road, as is Blue Moon Bar and Grill. My dad first came to this property as a farm hand for the elderly couple who owned it. This was in the 1930's. He met my mother, who lived 6 miles down the road, in 1939. She was just 14. Every Sunday he would ride those 6 miles to have supper with her and her family and in 1940, 2 weeks after her 16th birthday, they married. They traveled around before coming back here, buying a small portion of this farm from the elderly owners and farming the rest for them, but in 1953, the man died (his name was Ernest Ward) in the small concrete house I now use for storage, that my dad had built for he and his wife when he first came to work for them. My parents built a home for his widow in Hatch (14 miles) and bought the farm from her. My family has owned it since. I was gone for 31 years, but returned to the land and place I love and plan to stay here till I die!

Hacienda RV Resort is not something I would expect to find on Hipcamp. Its a full-fledged RV Resort with all the bells and whistles. The only downside is there's no privacy. So, if you like camping for solitude, this isn't the place, otherwise, its awesome!

Site was clean and level. Vineyard was nice, wine was excellent. The owners, both old and new, were welcoming and friendly. Patio was a great place to hang out and meet people.

The surrounding land, the hospitality and kindness of Depree, the bugling elk, and the endless views of stars made for such a special and memorable camping adventure for our family. Coyote Bluff is a spacious camping set up with a gorgeous view. We appreciated how helpful Depree was during our stay and the wonderful communication regarding the weather and direction before hand. We love the space that Depree has been nurturing and would absolutely recommend staying here- I know we will next time we are in the area!

Really loved it here, beautiful sunset, sunrise, and views all around. Makes you feel like your in the middle of the desert. If your worrying about sun exposure bring a umbrella or some type of shade. Wasn’t an issue at all for me though would camp here again and recommended to all my homies.

Love the remote location! It was peaceful to be the only campers at the time. Children loved playing around and exploring. Dogs also loved the freedom of being unleashed. Very peaceful and relaxing, wish we could have stayed longer!

The park itself was absolutely gorgeous. It felt like a scene out of a movie! You absolutely have to go during the sunset. My partner and I gave ourselves a hour to complete the dune drive, and climb up a few dunes to watch the sunset. I will say the restrooms at the visitor center were so gross. The gift shop is small, nothing crazy fancy. It was odd because the employees working there were in sweatshirts?? They didn’t look like NPS employees really. But none of that even matters. The park was so beautiful. Definitely recommend!!

Too hot to visit in the summer unless you go right before sunset. Sunset is the best! Absolutely breath taking! My favorite place in the U.S. I loved watching our 10 year old son run through the sand as the sun was setting. He even slid down some larger hills on a board. We have the best pictures ever of that time, especially with the sunset right before the park closed.

White Sands, New Mexico brings out the kid in everyone! I had an absolute blast here,the cool, soft sand is perfect for playing, sledding, or just soaking in the magic. It’s impossible not to feel joy in this surreal landscape. A true bucket list stop, no matter your age!

Quick pitstop
I visited White Sands Nat’l Park in March 2023 on my way to El Paso, Texas. Definitely worth the pitstop to stretch your legs after a long drive and walk the dunes. I would not go out of my way to visit this park, in my opinion it ranks below Great Sand Dunes and Death Valley as there is less sightseeing and fewer hiking opportunities, but still worth the stop if you’re passing by!
