Nestled only 0.6 of a mile off of Highway 62/180 in Hudspeth County (On North Howling Wind Road), Texas, this Ranch offers four 30'x60' RV sites, and four 20'x30' RV sites. There is ample Hiking nearby (Sierra Tinaja Pinta, Cerro Diablo, and Miller Mountain in The Cornudas Mountains), and the site is only about twenty miles West of the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. When you need to reconnect with city life, El Paso is only about 45 minutes away, and the small town of Dell City is only 20 minutes away the county seat, Sierra Blanca, just 40 minutes away. We welcome Families, Meditators, Yogis, Saints and Sages, Overlanders, Hikers, Mountain Bikers, Motorhome Enthusiasts, Snow Birds, Sun Gazers, Bush Pilots, Equestrians, Paragliders, Baloonists, Kite flyers, and anyone who's out there to enjoy the natural beauty of West Texas and the world in general. We ask that our guests pack in and pack out what they bring. As we are a newcomer to Hipcamp, we do not have any RV hook-ups, or out-houses yet. We also explicitly request that our guests not bring any drugs or alcohol on the site--this is a dry listing--we don't like drugs and alcohol, they bring demons, and we don't like demons. Also, we support the Second Amendment, but ask that our guests not discharge firearms on the site unless it's an emergency. We love dogs, but if your dog is big and aggressive, not very obedient, and potentially dangerous to other people, kids, and small pets, we ask that you keep your buddy on a leash and make sure that he/she doesn't get into trouble. Just south of Guadeloupe National Park and its peaks. Beautiful. Others have mentioned Hwy 62 noise, which is "always there," but not a real detriment to the desert experience. Basically we loved the site/experience. Wes was very helpful in advance of our stay. I would say that I may not understand the fire ban. I do "fire ecology," and at that site, if folks bring their own firewood, I see little chance for problem even with high wind. There were even some decent fire pits already built. But people with more local knowledge would know way better. For future campers, the entrance gate may be a challenge. I work at a federal site where fence gates may have 3-4 different locks that reflect different users. At Good Guad I think I counted 16-17 locks at the gate. Maybe all necessary?? Don't know. I do know it would be confusing for many folks. So Wes, maybe provide a little more info to campers on what to expect at the gate? Overall a GREAT night! Wes helped us in advance about arrival time, reservation, etc. Very clean sites. Totally recommend it. If you find trash from previous campers, pick it up.

The camp is right off the highway in a beautiful location. It has an amazing view of the surrounding location and Guadalupe Peak and provided an incredible sunset/sunrise experience. It was the perfect combination of feeling private and remote while still being right outside the National Park. I highly recommend this spot and will be saving for future trips.

Beautiful location- nothing like sunrise & sunset with El Capitan in view. Glad we arrived pre-sunset which is definitely recommended. Better views than BLM land nearby. We hiked Guadalupe peak and drive was <20 min in total.

This site is right off the highway, but it feel remote with open skies and views of El Capitan and Guadalupe Peak. The sunsets are unreal and we enjoyed our stay out here away from the crowds.

We had an excellent time staying here for a night. We were passing through and spending a day at Guadalupe, so this site was perfect for three folks in one truck with two tents. We found the site easily, quickly set up on good flat ground, and enjoyed a lovely sunset. 10/10 would return!

Mountain View RV Park is a great RV park. Jay was a great owner and host. The site was a nice size. The bathroom and shower was very nice and clean. The laundry room was very nice and clean. The view from the RV park was nice as well. I will stay at Mountain View RV park again when I am in the area.

I can not say enough about Good Gaud locations and Wes. My first day was at the 4WD spot. It is named 4WD for a reason. Do not attempt in a 2WD or a low clearance vehicle. As you are driving the trail back to it you may have to improvise at certain points due to washouts and ruts. Watch the weather. There are two ravines you will cross and I would imagine a downpour would leave you stranded until the water subsided. For this reason I got with Wes and move to the spots closer to the road the second day because of the increased rain chances. These spots have just as good of a view and the spots are spaced far enough apart. These are very accessible to any low clearance 2WD vehicle. As far as the road noise from the highway. Yes you will hear it but really not that noticeable and starts to die down around 5:00 pm. Overall, I would rate this as one of the best primitive spots I have stayed on HipCamp. Thanks again Wes for letting us use your property and you were great with the quick responses.

Hiking Guadalupe

We did 2 hikes at the park. The first one was Devil's Den that was an easy hike out and back. This is a fun hike that goes thru the wash and leads you to high cliffs. The second hike was up to Guadalupe Peak that was challenging, but worth the views. You could see our campsite from the pinnacle at the top (it reflects the sunlight around 12-1PM that you can see with binoculars)

Guad Peak - The best! Come Prepared!

Guadalupe Mnts NP is one of the least visited and highly underrated NPs. It hosts the highest point in Texas (Guadalupe Peak), and a host of other trails like McKitrick Canyon and historical sites like an old Butterfield overland mail station. If you hike Guadalupe peak, plan in advance. It is strenuous, and would encourage folks to prepare physically if not regularly participating in strenuous exercise. The first third and bottom third of the peak is the hardest part of the hike. The middle and top portions of the hike are the “easiest”. There are several “false summit’s” so chop up your hike into different legs. Budget a minimum of 8 hours to do the hike, and 10 if you go slow. I’d also reccomend to start early in the morning, so you are off the mountain during peak daylight hours. There are folks who do sunset hikes and then hike down the mountain under light in the darkness. Sun exposure is huge. It’s recommended to bring at least 4-5L of water for the hike. Also any electrolyte tablets and food are helpful. Bring long sleeve shirts and a hat that will cover your face and nose. The reward is breathtaking scenery across New Mexico, West Texas, and the Salt Basin. On a clear day you may see Mexico, and on a cloudy day, you’ll be watching the clouds roll over you at the top of the mountain! My wife and I made it to the peak and it was incredibly rewarding for the both of us. Definitely going to keep coming back!

Incredible mountain range on the Texas and New Mexico border. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area. I visited in March 2023, it was still quite cool out and we felt like we had the park to ourselves.

An Ancient Reef

If you are visiting Carlsbad, don’t miss the short drive to the Guadalupe Mountains. The ground is made of ancient seashells from when Texas was underwater!

If you’re going to hike up Guadalupe Peak, then staying at Pine Springs campground is a must after conquering the peak. The only thing you’re gonna wanna do is rest and recover.
