Chris is really nice and extremely responsive, so he is a great host. We were a little shocked on our arrival that his dog was running around, including around our car where we couldn’t see, so we worried about hitting his dog. Additionally, the site was at an angle, so we weren’t sure where we were meant to pitch our tent. I was also surprised how close to his house we were. Ultimately, we didn’t end up staying the night here at all because we weren’t sure where to put our tent and we were uncomfortable with the closeness of the house.

We enjoyed camping here, generally. It is private and beautiful. However, we had trouble finding a reasonably flat campground as there are very sparse options and none clearly demarcated. We ended up finding one spot that was pretty flat, but still on a slight slant. Nonetheless, this was manageable! We were there for 2 days, and on the 2nd day (Sunday), we were really bothered by about 3 hours of what appeared to be shooting at a nearby gun range (or perhaps just a neighbor?). For 3 hours, pretty steadily, there was repeated loud gun shots that went off and echoed loudly throughout our campsite. We recognize this is out of the host's control, but was just a bit of a bummer when you're coming to the mountains for solitude and quiet! All in all, it was an OK spot, but we probably wouldn't visit again. It would be improved if the host made some clearly marked campsites with flatground and perhaps some amenities like a picnic table or fire ring.

Deceptive listing

Overall, I had a good experience; however, the deceptive nature of this site's descriptions leaves me hesitant to recommend, and I will not be returning. The big issue is that, contrary to the listing, there are no on-site restrooms. Your options are to dig a hole or drive 2 miles to a Safeway. I'm not sure if that Safeway is open 24 hours a day. Pros: - The view is beautiful. - The host is friendly. - The 2-5 minute hike to the site is really 1 minute. Cons: - Not a particularly quiet site, with audible road traffic. - It is a large property situated in a mountain neighborhood rather than in a natural setting. Note to the host: - Remove the restroom offering as part of the listing, and everything would have been fine.

Great spot close to the city. Saw an elk, some deer, and all sorts of chipmunks. Host is very nice and accommodating. Would come back!

I had a great stay! Chris’s spot was perfect for an overnight camp on my way to Eldo. Chris was very responsive and was able to meet me within five minutes of me making the request. The spot I had in the forest was pretty with lots of birds and had plenty of space for my truck with 270° awning and RTT. Would recommend and will likely be back. Thanks Chris!

The site is right next to the house and the road, but you can walk a bit into the forest to find a tent site, just be prepared to carry stuff in. There is a picnic table that was nice to have and a fire ring we didn't use since there was a fire ban. Hiking around the forest was a delight. There is no bathroom. Chris was very responsive and communicative.

We found this site available when everything around was booked. We got a large area to camp in by ourselves in a beautiful woods. There is a steep hill to navigate with all your gear, so plan to get some exercise. We wanted to be at higher elevation near hiking trails, so this worked great. There really isn't a toilet available other than what nature provides, so be prepared. It was challenging to find much flat ground for sleeping. This would be great for hammock camping and folks not expecting perfect tent sites. The hosts were very nice and let us fill our water every day. They have a great spot for more adventurous campers.

I enjoyed my stay. I booked it last minute for a single night during a long holiday weekend. Chris is a great host and very helpful. This place is close to some great mountain bike trails. I also liked the friendly visits from their dog. Really nice dog.

The site was beautiful as was Conifer. We were disappointed because while it said that there was access to a bathroom, the only one available was inside the hosts home and it was clear that they had not expected to have us use it. There was also a picnic table list that was not present. The host was very nice and accommodating but we booked the site for the amenities and so it fell a bit short the things that were promised weren't there.

We had a great time tent camping at this sight, the view was beautiful and there was plenty of land to explore. The other camp sights were also far away enough to not notice them. And their dog dingo was very friendly!

Beautiful spot with plenty of good hiking, views, and quiet, peaceful nights in nature. My dog and I really enjoyed it. Very welcoming and friendly hosts, too, including Dingo Dog. I wish I had packed a little lighter, as the path back out to the car is pretty steep, especially when doing it 3x due to the amount of gear I brought for a solo trip, but that’s my fault. All in all, a great experience. Thanks!

We loved van camping on Chris' land! It was beautiful and serene! Great views! Beautiful hiking in the neighboring forest! We loved seeing his goats, chickens, dog, and children wander the property as well as the native deer and little grey mountain squirrels! We definitely plan to come again!

Special place minus the rooster

Overall, this was a special place for kids to explore and play, You really do feel like welcome guests with such accommodating hosts. But for light-sleepers, I wouldn’t recommend this site. The rooster starts his regular crowing sessions from 4:30-6am, an unwelcome time slot if you’re not a pre-dawn riser.

Great spot close to Denver. Site is visible from the host's home, but if you walk 2 minutes into the forest down the trail, there are amazing tent spots out of view. You feel like you're alone in a mountain forest.

Fantastic spot! My daughter and I camped here and had an absolute blast. The site is close enough to where you park that it’s not hard to get your gear in, but far enough from the houses on the property to give you the feeling of being out in the woods. Beautiful views from the site itself. Bring weighs for your tent rather than stakes. We were visited by a deer, and a grey fox right at the campsite, and saw tons of other critters exploring the property. Perfect for a short trip and small group! Highly recommended!!
