I bought the deserted kiwi orchard in 1997, thinking it would be a place of healing. As the days and weeks progressed, I felt that all I wanted to do was to learn what the land had to teach me. So I turned all my attention and intention toward Nature, and began to reclaim the orchard from the blackberry overgrowth. As the years have gone by, I have added many other crops. Now we produce fruits, flowers, herbs, Microgreens & Vegetables... & I am still learning!! We would be happy to create a cleansing refreshment or meal for campers if notified in advance. We are happy to host campers who have a passion for Nature and are interested in sustainable living and seeing the beauty of the Sierra Foothills.

kiwi bower oasis

What a delight to camp under a bower of kiwi vines, serenaded by a northern mockingbird as the sun went down. My first HipCamp experience was a great one. The produce bag add-on was so very worth it!

Ruthanne was a gracious host. Peaceful space to pitch a tent for the night. Well water and ports potty. Lots of lovely birds in the morning while packing up.

Beautiful little spot amongst the orchard. So unique and fun! Easy to find, helpful host. We had the place to ourselves (despite the holiday weekend). So appreciate the firewood provided!!

Loved my stay with Ruthanne!

I had a great time staying on Ruthanne's farm. The kiwi orchards and the campsite were beautiful, the fruit basket was great. I went to Hidden Falls nearby and loved it. Lots of stores and food places were really close nearby. Ruthanne was so sweet and told me about her farm and let me meet her goats. The stars were beautiful, I had an amazing time! But bring a picnic table if you would like one. Thank you for everything Ruthanne!!! :)

Site 1 - Orchard Nest

A great stay in the Orchard

We had a lovely stay in the orchard! Watching the sunset under the fig trees was amazing and we enjoyed the company of the dogs who came to check we were ok. It’s a tiny quiet oasis and just the peace and quiet we needed. It was also convenient for accessing the local trails and lake. We ended up staying a second night and made use of the rocket stove: one of the best meals we’d ever had It’s a basic aiye but don’t let that put you off: you have everything you need for a quiet stay. Thanks Ruthanne!
