Dan's place worked out well for us. We were visiting in a truck camper and so really just needed somewhere quiet to rest up for the night. It is a little further away from the national park, but that suited us just fine as it is quieter and away from the traffic there. Since we were going to have to drive out of the park anyway, a 20 minute drive didn't seem any different that a 10 minute one.

No sleep but nice desert views
We enjoyed the desert views during sunset. Overall, it was an okay experience. Dogs barked, and cars were driving by almost all night that woke us up because our camp was close to the dirt road. A homelessness person came to ask for cigarettes, that later started screaming around 3AM. I was glad that my boyfriend was with us, because as a woman I would have not felt safe in the area otherwise. I understand that was probably an unfortunate situation, but we were unable to get sleep.

this campsite was exactly what we needed — literally just a big plot of land out in the desert pretty much totally deserted. we did see a handful of cars driving up & down the dirt road that comes right by the campsite but it wasn’t a problem. the stars were beautiful & we had two lovely evenings camping beneath them.

I’d keep looking
We took one look and moved on. So many beat up trucks and campers within a stone’s throw with meth heads partying. The owner should be around to see what’s happening
