Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.

The 5th largest tree in the world called the Stagg tree is a giant sequoia less than a mile away. In the other direction there is a beautiful meadow with a waterfall less than a mile away. There is also swimming pond nearby and lots of lush forest with berries and wildlife all over. The property is located in the middle of a Giant Sequoia grove at 6500' elevation. Come enjoy the lack of crowds and serenety. Well behaved dogs can be off leash most places.Pitch your tent under a beautiful pine tree in the magical Sequoia National Forest, and then walk to the 5th largest tree in the world called the Stagg tree. Then go checkout the beautiful meadow and dip your feet in the creek by the majestic waterfall. Then ask host for firewood and make a campfire to relax around.

Everyone has different wants and needs when camping. Our review of Beary Retreat is simply information for you to decide what works for you. When we booked our stay, we were looking for peace, quiet and solitude. We are new to Hipcamp and haven't used the platform before. The good: -Very kind, informative, helpful & communicative host -Great Wi-Fi -Terrific location - great hikes and views in all directions -Beautiful area and very serene -Host's dog - Shadow - was happy, cute, friendly and well behaved -Fire pit provided The not so great: -Size of space - was a bit too tight for our comfort in a full size pick up with RTT that folds out to one side -Proximity to host’s dwelling is very close -The images in the ad don't show how the campsite looked when we arrived. We believe most of the pictures are of the surrounding area.

Magical mountain retreat

Kevin’s property is amazing! It was a bit tricky to get to, but every step of the way Kevin was assisting us, making it incredibly easy! The site is tucked away in a beautiful sequoia grove at the top of a mountain, keep in mind the road can be winding but if you take it slow it’s a very easy drive! There’s a number of gorgeous hikes within walking distance of the site, which Kevin graciously showed us around to, and you’ll be stopping a lot during these hikes because the amount of breathtaking vistas in the area around the park is nothing short of remarkable. This property is at the top of a mountain, so your amenities will be whatever you bring with you, but your reward for roughing it will be pristine beauty, complete peace and quiet, and an unforgettable experience! Not to mention Kevin provided Wi-Fi during our stay, which greatly assuaged our stress of not being able to find our way back DOWN the mountain! Thank you so much Kevin for and amazing stay and if you’re trying to decide whether to stray off the beaten path into adventure, do yourself a favor and book this property ASAP
