This new-in-formation ecological art project is currently recruiting visitors to backcountry camp in our beautiful fields, on woodland rim sites, or at delicate campsites located along an evolving system of woodland trails. Most likely a good fit for those who are self-sufficient and like to avoid busy camping areas, but still want to get out to the park quickly (~ 1 mi to park border) or visit Cave City (3 mi) for coffee/etc. Expand from the campsite into a sketch-work of trails amidst a young prairie, as if you were camping near the headquarters of a satellite nature reserve. Water tap by main house for cleaning dishes, etc. Camping funds allow us to plant trees (~400 so far and 75 planned for 2024), establish a prairie, restore wetlands, trail building, and removal of invasive species. Thanks to our visitors for supporting this type of project. p.s. Bundles of dried and split firewood are available onsite, usually a mix of red cedar and oak with a suggested donation of $5/bundle.

Kevin was a great host and has an awesome spot that is super nice & private, right by Mammoth cave! You'll love his three dogs who are super cute and friendly, I definitely recommend having him show you around the property on his morning walks too, he has a lot of interesting info to share!

Exceptionally Accommodating
Visited during the muddiest time the host had ever seen. Kevin was extremely accommodating and friendly, and personally helped us when my poorly equipped front wheel drive sedan got stuck in the mud. He has some lovely dogs that will come visit you and the stars were very visible at night despite the rainy weather during the day. Would visit again!

A Special Place!
I camped out on Kevin’s land after visiting Mammoth Cave for the day. I had the best experience! I was warmly welcomed by Kevin and his super sweet doggos. Really enjoyed talking with Kevin about his vision for the property, the local area and the joys of being out in nature. The property itself is a beautiful space and was very peaceful. The front half of his land is a spacious open prairie filled with tall grasses that make you feel tucked away at your campsite. Make sure to walk the trails through the grass that Kevin has crafted with thought and intention. The paths wind back and forth with occasional loops and feels like a meditative labyrinth. The back half of the property is a forested area with wide open trails and nice changes in elevation that make for a great hike! Lots of wildlife in the area. Came in close distance of a beautiful buck that was jumping across the trail. Also heard a group of coyotes howling out nearby during the night which was such a cool experience! Would definitely recommend staying here especially if you are in town visiting Mammoth Cave as it is very close by. Will definitely be back!

Perfect spot, completely as advertised and exactly what I was looking for. Well maintained beautiful land, host was attentive and communicated well, and just minutes away from Mammoth Cave National Park. I'd definitely stay again!
