Lake Carmi State Park

Just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the border between the US and the “Great White North,” Lake Carmi State Park is an expansive locale with contemplative views. If northern pike and walleyes sound like your kind of dinner, then skip the store and pack your rod. The park has two miles of lake-front turf, with plenty of room for two swimming beaches, boat rentals, and canoeing. Adding to the classic Vermont landscape of forest and water, is the park’s peat bogs which lay off the southern end of the lake--steeped with mystery, the spindly spruce trees and mosses make for an unusual hike.
