Fire Cove Cabin grounds are right at the ocean front of this rugged shale coast. The whole area is prepared for the building of 12 Cabins in 2023 and can be used for self contained campers till then. The pads are perfectly leveled in different elevations for the perfect view of the Bay of Lunenburg. Watch the Bluenose sailing by on her daily turns and many other boats and ships. We have our own little private horseshoe beach and the large Spindlers Beach is 5 walking minutes away. 20 Minutes to beautiful Lunenburg and 30 Minutes to Bridgewater, Ovens Park, and Rose bay are just around the corner. This is the perfect spot for the individual camper who does not want to be on a crowded Campground and does not need any further services, but wants fantastic views and sunsets on the Atlantic ocean. Easy in and out driving and ample room for you and your camper limited to 12 spots only.

Conveniently located 30 minutes east of Annapolis Royal, and an easy hour's drive west from Wolfville, with many lovely towns to stop in on your drive through the valley. You can be at the Bay of Fundy within 15 minutes. We are a 4 minute drive to the Annapolis Valley Exhibition grounds. With so many beaches, wineries, orchards, restaurants, trails and waterways nearby - you won't run out of things to do! Enjoy your morning coffee while the sun rises over the North Mountain, and if you're lucky a sighting of the deer that frequent the property. After a busy day spent exploring the valley, enjoy gazing up at the milky way (star gazing is incredible here with some of the darkest skies in North America) next to a crackling campfire. Fall asleep to the sounds of our brooks' gentle burbling, and coyotes howling in the distance. Each campsite has it's own firepit and picnic table . There is a shared XL sparkling clean portable toilet with solar lights for night-time access. Walk across our babbling brook to enjoy a rustic, hot shower in the woods. "Big Blue" sits atop a lawn covered hill on the shore of the Cobequid Bay. A grove of fir and pine trees offer a sense of woodland solitude and fairies. The energy is magical. You can enjoy a front row seat or amble down over the lawn to sit on the end of the public wharf to watch the tidal bore squeeze into the mouth of the Shubenacadie River. It won't be long and you can marvel at the force of the water as it turns and begins to pour back toward the Bay of Fundy. Walk across the dyke to reach the oldest continually operating general store in North America - Frieze and Roy. Beyond the Wharf, a locally stocked craft shop borders us on the easterly side of the lawn. Next to it you will find Dawson Dowel Picnic Park, a playground and basketball court. On the westerly side of the driveway you there is a marsh area. The remnants of the shipyard where the WD Lawrence was built in the 1800's can be seen poking through the sand on the beach directly in front of the marsh. At low tide you can walk for miles in a westerly direction. Always be Tide Aware! Across the road from the marsh is the residence of WD Lawrence himself. It is a provincial museum. Directly across from Big Blue is a Ducks Unlimited pond. The sound of the geese and ducks can be heard 24 hours a day! There is a path that circumvents most of the pond. Adjacent to the Lawrence House parking lot there is an observatory where you can linger and watch the shenanigans of the occasional muskrat or possibly a beaver. The washrooms are accessed through a side door on the verandah of the main house. There are three showers and three toilets. If happen to be missing your "workout" there is a treadmill and exercise bike available to use. Outdoor fire regulations are strictly adhered to. There is a BBQ available for a small fee. Weekend Trip to Fraserville Off-Grid Camping

Dan was a kind and thoughtful host who helped to adjust plans due to restrictions in place for wildfire prevention. We landed on site 1 and holy moly. The views were incredible. We happened to have very clear weather but the dark starry sky and full bay view with coffee were big memories. The fire pit, table and bench and outhouse were such nice luxuries.

Easy communication and instructions. A quiet level site. Very convenient for visiting Halifax. We took the ferry from the Woodside terminal leaving our RV in the free parking lot, just get there early to get a space. Highly recommend to other travelers.

Beautiful spot on Grant lake! Very private and quiet. Very large lot, easily fit our 20ft R-pod , truck and screen tent with room to spare! Canoe and life vests on the lot for your use. A port-potty on your site and a large picnic table. Loons and frogs sound lovely at night, lots of wild life, Eagles, kingfishers etc,,, Only a short drive to the local grocery store. We will be booking this site again!

What an amazing location. Gloria is so friendly and accommodating. We parked our 16ft camper on top of the hill and had a wonderful Fundy breeze all night. Sunrise from the dock is a must see. Would highly recommend this hipcamp to all travellers.

Weekend Trip to Lusty Lagoon

We had a very nice 2 day stay at this campground. We have 2 dogs and it is great to have the single camp site so as not to have to worry about neighboring campers with dogs as well. The campground itself is very easy to get to in any kind of car, nice and clear/flat space to set up a tent but with a lot mature deciduous trees interspersed providing very significant shade cover during the day (nice and cool wven when really hot) If you're looking for a bit of a walk you can get into rails to trails The one adjustment that we had to make was regarding the proximity of the site to the road. While it is definitely far enough back from the road to feel private in terms of visibility, it is close enough that you hear the cars driving by, and it is a medium-busy road. So it is just good to be aware of that variable, and personal preference whether this would bother you or not. I was quite aware of it on arrival the first afternoon/evening but by the second day/night I had adjusted. And with really only this one consideration, it seems very fair for the price!

Another amazing vacation at SurferShade this year! My husband, friends and I really appreciated to cozyness and the large size of the site! SurferShade has everything you wish for a good and relaxing camping trip! We really enjoyed cooking on the bbq, taking naps in the hamac and playing guitar around the fire pit (no fire because of the burn restriction in nova scotia, but still I really nice spot to chill). Our dogs was really in vacation too, they had so much place to play and they loved being in the forest! Sam is an amazing, friendly and available host! If you're looking for a private camping spot (not 5 feet from an other camper), that has everything you'll need for a great stay with your camper, SurferShade is the option! 🏄🏼‍♀️🌊🌅

Campsite 3 was great. Large campsite with a view of the bay through the trees. Although there was a fire ban there was nice fire pit on site with provided firewood. Privacy was fantastic and was good to allow our dog to relax.
