The Ship Wreck is a secluded getaway on Hennigar Lake 45 minutes from Halifax. It includes a converted 29’ sailboat, a large open air cookhouse including a wood fired pizza oven and propane fridge and stove and a wash house with composting toilet and gravity fed sink. In May we will have available a further sleeping accommodation featuring an antique double bedstead. An outdoor shower can wash away a day’s labours! Added amenities include kayaks, a horseshoe pitch, two fire pits, a play area including a basketball court and a hammock beneath the overhanging trees. A new 10’ by 15’ tenting / chilling area sits beneath the trees next to the amenities. Sandy walkways connect the beach to all of the different elements. Multiple spots around the property invite quiet reflection. Take your shoes off and stay a while… and if it’s Spring or Fall know that the rocket mass heater can keep you warm on the coolest, rainiest days.

This is a sweet little property of approximately an acre, though the whole lake is undeveloped. The site is treed with mostly mature trees and overlooks Little Robertson Lake. The lake is close, but the shoreline is not extremely easy to access. This campsite is private, but not remote. It is located close to a byway and you can drive in. There is not too much traffic on the adjacent road which leads to several white sand ocean beaches and trails along with Keji Seaside National Park and Thomas Raddall Provincial Park. All within a few minutes drive.

Our kitchenettes are equipped with everything you may need for cooking in, including a coffee and tea nook, of course! Our Story The inspiration behind the name - Dordéan - is Mackenzie Joy, daughter of owners Shawn and Renena Joy. "Dordéan" is Irish for hummingbird, a nod to the family's Irish Newfoundland roots. Hummingbirds are mighty, little birds, known for their cheerful disposition and zest for life. They symbolize beauty, playfulness, grace and resilience. Much like hummingbirds, Mackenzie is small but mighty; a powerhouse in her own right. She is one of the happiest, kindest and most generous people you will ever meet. Despite her many challenges, she faces each day with strength, determination, persistence and resilience. As the saying goes "Good things come in small packages," Hummingbirds are tiny birds that pack a punch well beyond their size, serving as a reminder that one person can make a big impact on the lives of others and their community.

Well drained site in the woods, I came with a 17 foot RV and had no issues. Little sand area on the water gets some good sunshine. Private spot…your dry camping… Host is excellent, helpful and a very nice human… Nice area here, bridgewater is great for supplies, beaches everywhere, very clean environment Close enough (25m) to crescent beach for kitesurfing…pray for wind I’ll be back…🏄‍♂️

Directions were clear to get to site, hosts were quick to respond to various queries & had done their research on DNR regulations & how they applied to their properties in light of the forest fire, trail access, & burn ban situation surrounding my visit. Owl's Hollow is the perfect place for a getaway - Karen and Ben have truly thought about everything! In the Hut there was a book about forest bathing, and their property is truly the epitome of it - peaceful, serene and therapeutic. The beautiful views, steps from access to the lake and the added conveniences (chairs, structures, water, etc.) is unbeatable. Karen was quick to respond, kind and very accommodating. Beautiful spot on Grant lake! Very private and quiet. Very large lot, easily fit our 20ft R-pod , truck and screen tent with room to spare! Canoe and life vests on the lot for your use. A port-potty on your site and a large picnic table. Loons and frogs sound lovely at night, lots of wild life, Eagles, kingfishers etc,,, Only a short drive to the local grocery store. We will be booking this site again!

We had a very nice 2 day stay at this campground. We have 2 dogs and it is great to have the single camp site so as not to have to worry about neighboring campers with dogs as well. The campground itself is very easy to get to in any kind of car, nice and clear/flat space to set up a tent but with a lot mature deciduous trees interspersed providing very significant shade cover during the day (nice and cool wven when really hot) If you're looking for a bit of a walk you can get into rails to trails The one adjustment that we had to make was regarding the proximity of the site to the road. While it is definitely far enough back from the road to feel private in terms of visibility, it is close enough that you hear the cars driving by, and it is a medium-busy road. So it is just good to be aware of that variable, and personal preference whether this would bother you or not. I was quite aware of it on arrival the first afternoon/evening but by the second day/night I had adjusted. And with really only this one consideration, it seems very fair for the price!

We have done a lot of camping with our kids. We first discovered this spot last fall and swore we’d be back in the warmer months to enjoy the lake more. This was one of our favourite camping trips to date. The location is amazing. The facilities are fantastic. It’s clean, organized, has SOOO much included for enjoying the water. Kayaks, paddle boards, canoe, and even has waterproof phones cases. Our kids (and dog) thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the trip. We spent hours on, and in, the lake. The shaded area of the camp site was perfect for the heat wave, as was the lake!

Fort Sainte Marie de Grace National Historic Site is strategically located at LaHave, Nova Scotia, on a point of land where the LaHave River narrows. The land upon which the original fort was built has now eroded away; a Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada cairn, which marks the site, is situated near the original location of the fort.
