We have a half acre lake front lot with privacy. We have access directly to the lake from the lot and a laneway for a small boat as well. There is fishing, paddle boarding, boating, hiking and walking on these quiet roads in the wilderness. The Bay of Fundy is down the road maybe 2-5 min. If you want peace and quiet then here it is, a nice fresh lot on a lake out in the middle of no where. We DO NOT have any any of the equipment (kayaks, paddle boards and fishing equip) there you must bring your own. There is no washroom or electricity yet, so please be aware of this.

Andromeda House sits on 30 beautiful acres, stretching from our waterfront to the top of the Mountain. Perched dramatically above the Annapolis Basin, the views here are truly awe-inspiring—and only get more breathtaking as one explores higher up on the property. Our path network is maintained for access to the very satisfying “Upper Lookout”. This path continues and you might just find your hosts working on this area. There are also various mountain access roads provide terrific hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Photography, rock hounding, mushroom hunting and star gazing are ideal activities. Birders in particular should be pleased. The property has been in our family for generations and an old sled path winds through and up it. We are also developing a spring-fed swimming pond this summer. Currently, we have new fields of sunflowers and wildflowers to attract pollinators—bumble bees, hummingbirds and monarch butterflies are especially abundant here. Wild apple trees abound and there is a stand of old maple trees we will be tapping next spring. Beyond that is a mature Beech and Poplar forest. We are within walking distance to Victoria Beach, an authentic fishing village nestled at the base of the north mountain and surrounded by the Annapolis Basin, the Digby Gut and the Bay of Fundy. Wow the pictures looked good but being there was a whole other kind of beauty. The spot is tranquil and perfect, Karen and Ben have everything you could possibly need! The cabin was nice and cozy at night and the view of the stars is incredible! Definitely already planning a return trip!

Our family of four enjoyed the solitude this cabin on a small lake offered for a much needed staycation. We enjoying resting in the hammock and the gentle rhythm the decks rocking chair provided. We brought our own, but there are several fishing rods available and ready to use. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Looks like there’s going to be some upcoming renovations to the cabin so we can’t wait to see what’s coming up next at Grumpy Bear Hollow!

Directions were clear to get to site, hosts were quick to respond to various queries & had done their research on DNR regulations & how they applied to their properties in light of the forest fire, trail access, & burn ban situation surrounding my visit. Sit was clear & as described. Wagon provided was functional & easy to use to navigate a trail from the parking to the site.

In the Hut there was a book about forest bathing, and their property is truly the epitome of it - peaceful, serene and therapeutic. The beautiful views, steps from access to the lake and the added conveniences (chairs, structures, water, etc.) is unbeatable. Karen was quick to respond, kind and very accommodating. Beautiful spot on Grant lake! Very private and quiet. Very large lot, easily fit our 20ft R-pod , truck and screen tent with room to spare! Canoe and life vests on the lot for your use. A port-potty on your site and a large picnic table. Loons and frogs sound lovely at night, lots of wild life, Eagles, kingfishers etc,,, Only a short drive to the local grocery store. I did not want to leave! Incredibly thoughtful touches everywhere (bug spray - which wasn't needed) solar lights with 1 remote to control them all, speaker, fans, so many things to use in the bathroom- too many to list) just know a lot of thought has gone into wondering how best they can be of service to folks. Easy walk in to the site (5-7 min). Lovely screened in porch to sit and listen to birds. Reading in bed is like being in a tree house with huge windows. And vintage stuff everywhere!!! A delight. Order the breakfast. She's a trained chef. Then go to Lunns Mills (she owns that, too) also swim at mickey hill lake. Clear warm water and hardly anyone there. 10 min walk through forest to the lake. Do it! Do it all!!

An archaeological survey undertaken in 1984 on quiet farmland on the banks of the Annapolis River unlocked the key to the history of the Acadian settlers who lived here throughout the 17th and 18th centuries. The Melanson Settlement revealed a system of dykeland farming unique among Acadians living in North America which involved families and neighbours cooperatively working the land.
