Oh. My. Gawd. Where to start?! This is one of the original properties for the area. Owned by one lovely family since the 1700's until your current (very lucky) host. The house was the post office from 1861 to 1961. One of the rooms was the hospice for the area... SPOOOOOKY!!! There is a culvert from the 1700's on the property from where the province moved the highway sometime before the 40's. Neat! Reggie took over ownership in 2020 and is keeping things as original as possible, but adding his touch, like his battle axe travel trailer, Franny, which makes her home in the driveway. She's worth a visit! - TENT ADVANCED LEVEL LAKESIDE is by far the most beautiful; however, it is a small area, located on the edge of the property, and I can't be responsible for the neighbours to a certain extent. Fort Nova is your home for as long as you choose. Let's get campy! **KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE MAY BE OTHERS STAYING THERE** But there are multiple areas to choose from, including: the lawn, living amongst the pines, a forest clearing, or even lakeside (it's rough back there). You can have complete privacy and feel free to reach out to me at the house if you need anything. For those with RV's, there is an exterior outlet and a water spigot, but please remember, others might be staying there so we need to play nice and share! On the property, there is: - A decent-sized lake (I wish I had a canoe... :( ) - 1700's abandoned bridge - Lots of foraging (Won't be held liable if ya eat something silly!) - Rail Trail (runs through the property) So many bloody things to do nearby: - The ocean is right across the street. - Oasis Fish and Chips (Also right across the street!) - Beech Street Kitchen (in Lockeport) - Barrington (Lobster capital of the world, UFO capital of Canada) - Brooklyn (Hank Snow's hometown) - Provincial Parks - Boxing Rock Brewing Co.

Suzanne is an amazing host. So accomodating and really wanted to make sure I had a great experience. PLUS the spot by the river is gorgeous! You can hear a little traffic from the road but it was faint and silent at night. Generally so peaceful and the reflection of the red barn across the river looked like a painting. It is a picturesque spot.

Well drained site in the woods, I came with a 17 foot RV and had no issues. Little sand area on the water gets some good sunshine. Weekend Trip to FORT NOVA

We arrived at sunset to Reginald’s farmhouse. Yard was mainly flat and easy to navigate. Sunset was beautiful, and we didn’t know when we booked that it was so close to the seaside. We ate an apple from the tree which was delicious. Farmhouse is a little museum onto itself and smells slightly of damp. Bathroom has all necessities and shower was excellent. Overall a perfect peaceful spot to stay! Host was a great writer and communicated well

For me, Fort Nova was heaven and strategically located. The peaceful setting was great. That peace was interrupted at times as I hiked down the trail to the huge beaver pond each morning with coffee in hand. The interruption was, many mornings, from either an eagle or an osprey. Located an hour from Yarmouth and an hour from Liverpool, the farm was perfectly located to explore the entire southern part of the province. And, next door was a restaurant with a view of Jordan Bay.

Nice quiet 2 day stay with a canoe and pota potty if you need them. Google maps takes you to the correct driveway at #3242. The owners driveway is the next one to the south, before this one if you are heading north. There's no numbers but you'll see the security chain.

Fort Nova, for me, was heaven. Perfectly situated to explore the southeast corner of Nova Scotia. Yarmouth was only hour to the east and Liverpool an hour to the north. Charming Lockport, with it expansive beach, was fifteen minutes away. The solitude and the grounds are fantastic. My morning walk along the trail, through the pines, to the expansive beaver pond was magical. A place that allows one to experience quiet and solitude...except for the screech of the bald eagle.

Nous avons reçu de très bonnes indications très détaillées pour nous rendre au site. Le terrain est grand avec une belle vue sur la mer. Il y a même des chaises et un jeu de "washer" disponible sur le terrain. L'endroit est bien situé (à mi-chemin entre Lunenburg et Peggy's Cove).

Beautiful spot on Grant lake! Very private and quiet. Very large lot, easily fit our 20ft R-pod , truck and screen tent with room to spare! Canoe and life vests on the lot for your use. A port-potty on your site and a large picnic table. Loons and frogs sound lovely at night, lots of wild life, Eagles, kingfishers etc,,, Only a short drive to the local grocery store. We will be booking this site again!

Weekend Trip to Lusty Lagoon

We had a very nice 2 day stay at this campground. We have 2 dogs and it is great to have the single camp site so as not to have to worry about neighboring campers with dogs as well. The campground itself is very easy to get to in any kind of car, nice and clear/flat space to set up a tent but with a lot mature deciduous trees interspersed providing very significant shade cover during the day (nice and cool wven when really hot) If you're looking for a bit of a walk you can get into rails to trails The one adjustment that we had to make was regarding the proximity of the site to the road. While it is definitely far enough back from the road to feel private in terms of visibility, it is close enough that you hear the cars driving by, and it is a medium-busy road. So it is just good to be aware of that variable, and personal preference whether this would bother you or not. I was quite aware of it on arrival the first afternoon/evening but by the second day/night I had adjusted. And with really only this one consideration, it seems very fair for the price!

Location is very central to Blockhouse and Mahone Bay - great for exploring the area! The location is right next to the road so easy to access but also means there is car noise during the day. It got nice and quite overnight though.

Weekend Trip to Ashland Lake Retreats At Grant Lake

We just returned from 2 nights at Richards campground and can highly recommend it! Richard is nice and makes sure he's available, but also gives you all the privacy you need. It would be challenging to tent here because of the site cover, but we have a van, so no worries. Site was huge, clean, has a clean porta potty, fire box and wood (ban was on for us, but good to know). Site is lakefront and pet friendly, our 2 dogs had fun swimming and squirrel watching! Beautiful & peaceful. We will definitely be back!
