Oh. My. Gawd. Where to start?! This is one of the original properties for the area. Owned by one lovely family since the 1700's until your current (very lucky) host. The house was the post office from 1861 to 1961. One of the rooms was the hospice for the area... SPOOOOOKY!!! There is a culvert from the 1700's on the property from where the province moved the highway sometime before the 40's. Neat! Reggie took over ownership in 2020 and is keeping things as original as possible, but adding his touch, like his battle axe travel trailer, Franny, which makes her home in the driveway. She's worth a visit! - TENT ADVANCED LEVEL LAKESIDE is by far the most beautiful; however, it is a small area, located on the edge of the property, and I can't be responsible for the neighbours to a certain extent. Fort Nova is your home for as long as you choose. Let's get campy! **KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE MAY BE OTHERS STAYING THERE** But there are multiple areas to choose from, including: the lawn, living amongst the pines, a forest clearing, or even lakeside (it's rough back there). You can have complete privacy and feel free to reach out to me at the house if you need anything. For those with RV's, there is an exterior outlet and a water spigot, but please remember, others might be staying there so we need to play nice and share! On the property, there is: - A decent-sized lake (I wish I had a canoe... :( ) - 1700's abandoned bridge - Lots of foraging (Won't be held liable if ya eat something silly!) - Rail Trail (runs through the property) So many bloody things to do nearby: - The ocean is right across the street. - Oasis Fish and Chips (Also right across the street!) - Beech Street Kitchen (in Lockeport) - Barrington (Lobster capital of the world, UFO capital of Canada) - Brooklyn (Hank Snow's hometown) - Provincial Parks - Boxing Rock Brewing Co.

Tent Clearing in the Woods
We arrived at sunset to Reginald’s farmhouse. Yard was mainly flat and easy to navigate. Sunset was beautiful, and we didn’t know when we booked that it was so close to the seaside. We ate an apple from the tree which was delicious. Farmhouse is a little museum onto itself and smells slightly of damp. Bathroom has all necessities and shower was excellent. Overall a perfect peaceful spot to stay! Host was a great writer and communicated well

For me, Fort Nova was heaven and strategically located. The peaceful setting was great. That peace was interrupted at times as I hiked down the trail to the huge beaver pond each morning with coffee in hand. The interruption was, many mornings, from either an eagle or an osprey. Located an hour from Yarmouth and an hour from Liverpool, the farm was perfectly located to explore the entire southern part of the province. And, next door was a restaurant with a view of Jordan Bay.

RV Lawn Life Vol. I
Fort Nova, for me, was heaven. Perfectly situated to explore the southeast corner of Nova Scotia. Yarmouth was only hour to the east and Liverpool an hour to the north. Charming Lockport, with it expansive beach, was fifteen minutes away. The solitude and the grounds are fantastic. My morning walk along the trail, through the pines, to the expansive beaver pond was magical. A place that allows one to experience quiet and solitude...except for the screech of the bald eagle.

These tent spots are truly breathtaking. Each one is well thought out and feels incredibly private. Reggie was so incredibly easy to communicate with. Although he wasn’t there this weekend he still managed to make us feel welcome.

Reggie was very responsive and friendly. He took the time to answer any questions we had and we were welcomed to explore the property, including a really cool old stone bridge! We were able to use the restroom/hot shower in the house on the property. It was easy to park out camper van on the property. Very well priced and yummy restaurant right across the street!

Reggie was a fantastic host. He was not able to be there upon our arrival, so he sent us detailed instructions beforehand, including a picture showing the layout. The parking area was level and offered a beautiful view of the ocean. A bonus highlight was the fish and chips from across the street at Oasis...The best we've ever had. Don't let an opportunity to stay here go by.

Reggie is super welcoming and enthusiastic- for good reason! He shares with us a fantastic emerald forest! Fort Nova is magical for a nature nerd like myself, berry picking, bird watching, fungi galore, and the night skies-OMG. Plush mossy trails within thick forest and miles of old rail trails nearby, this awesome spot was my home base for two weeks while I explored the province. Oh, and great neighbors plus the ocean across the street. Just wow. I loved every bit. Would definitely return, and absolutely recommend.

Cool place to stay, really beautiful walk to the lake and scenery. Reggie was great to deal with and really accommodating and generous with the space. Fish and Chips are right across the road as well!

Not what I expected, but Reggie responded well. Work was being done so the back part of the property wasn't accessible, meaning I was parked next to the garage and could clearly see the neighbors across the road. The plumbing wasn't working. Hopefully, by the time you arrive, the back will be open again. Reggie is super communicative, which is helpful. It still ranks among some of the better spots I've been to. I would stay more than the one night I did.

It was a very nice and quiet place. The host was very supporting and gave us a lot of ideas what to do. We enjoyed this place and the wonderful food at Oasis across the road.

The property was well kept with with well marked nature trails. The modest outdoor furniture was inviting. Access to indoor plumbing was as described. We did not use the rustic kitchen. We found a level spot.

Reginald was a colorful and gracious host who has an 1850 house on 127 acres. The empty house is under renovation and the bathroom and kitchen are open to campers. Lots of options on where on property to camp- ocean view, large lawn, woods. Yard is a bit lumpy so take your time to find the spot for you. Mosquitos were bad the night we were there but probably depends on how much wind there is. We were able to back up our trailer to use the electrical outlet on the house.

Reginald is the top attraction....Very friendly and helpful (checked me in 3 hours early, got my groceries when he went to the supermarket, entertaining chats). Close to a walk along a disused rail line. Relaxed stay. Only downside was the mosquitoes, but not sure we can blame Reg for those

Reggie’s property is beautiful and he takes good care of it. We parked our fifth wheel near some apple trees and stayed one week. We hiked the trails he made through his fOrest to a stream and pond. His directions are thorough. Location is great for touring Shelburne, Lockeport and the many beaches of the south shore. Reggie was most welcoming and accommodating. Communication was swift and easy. We enjoyed the site for camping and Reggie even more. Highly recommended!

Reggie greeted us enthusiastically and we went about finding the most level spot in the yard. His camp was easy to find and located right across the st from a terrific little takeout restaurant. The host shared his knowledge of the area and we had a great conversation. Reggie was very friendly and a lovely host! Don’t hesitate to use this hip camp the beaver dam alone is worth the visit!

While new to HipCamp and still making improvements to the land, it’s already a fantastic place. For CamperVans or RV’ers or trailers the small field and yard is well groomed and pretty level, slightly tight turns to get in place but experienced folks will have zero issues. Tent campers have a ton of great and even remote options with just a little walk. There is a lot of land here. Reggie the host is exceptionally kind and is happy to help you out with whatever you might need as well as just leave you alone if that’s what you want. Across the street is a nice small family run fish and chip place (Bubba), open most days, and at on his land a great water view. If you are in this region you want to give this place a shot

Reggie was an awesome host. He communicated rapidly through HipCamp and Text. Conversation with Reggie was very stimulating as we had many travelling stories to talk about. And even Bentlee my Poodle like him too. LOL The RV site was an awesome spot with an unexpected view of the Atlantic Ocean. Although my Shuttle Bus required a bit of maneuvering to get level, the spot was amazing and very quite for a great nights sleep. Oh by the way if you just want to camp he's set up a couple of amazing camp spots in the forest for you. I've been to 23 HipCamps through the States and now Canada, this RV/Camp spot is very! very! well maintained, at 25000 steps of push mowing, and I would put it in my top 5 spots, if not the top spot. Sorry about that for all the other HipHosts spots I've stayed at. So far I would recommend Fort Nova to be the best of Nova Scotia 2022, even though I was his first HipCamper. I'm sure other HipCampers will agree in their future stays. If and when I ever travel to Jordan Falls or surrounding area I would definitely stay here again, without a doubt.
