Are you an outdoor enthusiast who doesn't mind going back to the basics, while enjoying accommodations that are not-so-basic?
Our 15-acre shore-front property is located on the Cumberland Bay Stream in Cumberland Bay, New Brunswick, Canada. We purchased it several years ago, and we live here. Over the years, we've enjoyed all it has to offer. In 2021 we decided that we should allow others to enjoy it too!
If you're looking for a place to enjoy nature, THIS IS IT!
If you're looking for a place to party, this is NOT for you.
Here at "The Old Canoe", we currently have two separate rentals listed (Cabin 4 Get-away, and "Main Street" the Bus). We may add a couple more in the future, but our goal is to keep it small and quaint so that our guests have their space and enjoy their privacy.
Our rentals provide a unique experience by offering a mix of modern conveniences, along with some off-grid or old fashioned rustic charm. Get back to the basics! Unplug and Unwind!
Cell phone service is very poor in this area, however we do provide Free LIMITED Wi-Fi so guests can check messages or emails, etc.
These furnished rentals are stocked with just about everything you'll need for a great stay, including fresh bedding, wash cloths and towels, soap, hand sanitizer, and lots more! Basically all you need to bring is your clothes, your food in a cooler, and a camp stove and/or a portable BBQ.
Have a campfire in your designated firepit and enjoy roasting marshmallows, making s'mores, and stargazing (seating provided). Firewood is sold on-site.
Guests can enjoy FREE use of our Shore, along with FREE use of our canoes and kayaks here (depending on weather conditions and temperatures). It is not advised to swim at our shore, as it is somewhat muddy/marshy, and shallow.
The property consists of a variety of terrain, including cleared areas, forest areas, thickets, paths, maple groves, and the Cumberland Bay Stream which flows through marsh wetlands and empties into Grand Lake (the largest fresh water lake in New Brunswick). It offers an abundance of wildlife, plant life, fresh air, tranquility, relaxation, and has the ideal setting for leisurely water sports such as canoeing, kayaking, row boating, or paddle boarding.
Enjoy nature by taking a stroll through the property's small walking paths, or the road leading to the Shore. Relax in one of the hammocks at your unit, and have a nap or read a book. Have a picnic or sit and relax at the Shore, as you take in what nature has to offer. During your stay you may have the opportunity to see various birds such as woodpeckers, wild turkeys, ducks, geese, cranes, or eagles. You may even catch a glimpse of foxes, deer, moose, otters, beavers, frogs, or turtles! Don’t forget your camera!
