Sasha's Sanctuary

1 site · RV, Tent15 acres · Mates Corner, NB
Hi! My name is Sasha! I'm a 10-year-old Black Lab! I know what you’re thinking, an old dog can't learn new tricks but here I am! Hip Camp Hooray! My unique, 15-acre home is a sanctuary away from all the hustle and bustle of dog-eat-dog life! It truly is my little piece of paradise, and I can’t help but want to share it with you! My favorite part is the 3-acre natural swimming quarry!! I love to cool off on those stifling hot summer days, nothing better! Your site is cozied right up to the edge of my beautiful pond with a freshly sodded soft spot for your tent and nestled behind a large hill (with your own driveway entrance) to make sure your stay is as secluded and serene as possible! My Mom and Dad, Pamela & Christoph, have built you a fancy new outhouse only steps away so no need to relieve yourself in some old bucket, forest hole (unless it’s a squirrel hole!🙁) or tall grass! They also have a sitting area set up! Feel free to walk my 20 minute loop around the pond, past peaceful fields and through sheltered paths that lead you right back to your site! All that walking keeps me 10 years young! Afterwards you can snuggle in beside the firepit I dug and I’ll even fetch you some sticks for your cozy bon fire! Nights are super relaxing with mirror still waters and dark night star gazing! I'm super pumped to share it with you! (Your little friends are welcome too, as naturally we are furry friendly.) Oh yeah, my Parents said don’t forget to tell you two things; We are in Straight Shores, Rural Southeast NB, 1km off Highway 15. We are centrally located within 20 minutes or less of NS, PEI, Sackville and Shediac, 35 minutes from big Ol Moncton and within 5-10 minutes of the villages of Port Elgin and Cap Pele! (Blah, Blah, Blah....Not that you’ll want to go anywhere after setting up in heaven! 😉 ) A canoe and/or fishing rods are available upon request for an additional fee of $5/canoe, $5/rods! Super deal for real! (My brother said star gazing at night in the canoe is incredible with the stars reflecting in the water! And the pond is stocked full of small mouth bass! I’ve tried to catch those little basses myself but just can’t swim quick enough! You’ll have much better luck with my Dad’s rods!) Don’t forget this old dog is full of new tricks so I welcome your feedback and suggestions on how to make my little piece of paradise even more perfect! Off to collect those bon fire sticks for ya! All YOU have to do now is click ‘Reserve’ and get your tails here to relax and chill! See you soon! Cheers, Sasha

The best camping near Murray Beach Provincial Park guide

Overview

About

For beach lovers, it doesn’t get much better than this. Murray Beach Provincial Park is set on a long sandy beach that faces Prince Edward Island, and the water in the strait between the provinces is calm and warm. There are a few gentle hikes in the park, but mostly this place is set up to just chill. Birdwatchers will love the Cape Jourimain Nature Centre that’s close to the park, and a short drive away are quaint villages, covered bridges, and other low-key attractions. The one campground at Murray Beach Provincial Park offers a mix of serviced and unserviced sites, a playground, a laundromat, and eight cabins to rent.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. A popular campground with seasonal campers, Murray Beach Provincial Park campsites are often snagged as soon as the park booking system opens. Because of this, if you’re looking for a serviced RV spot, book as early as possible using either the Parks New Brunswick online booking system or by calling the park directly.
  2. Turning up with your tent on the day you want to stay may secure you a spot, especially mid-week or outside of the busiest times (July and August), but get there as close to 2pm as possible when check-in starts.

When to go

Camping is only offered at Murray Beach between May 22 and September 20, and you’ll find it busiest in high summer and around Canadian holidays. Although the weather can be fine in May, your best bet for warm beach days is from mid-June onwards, as it may still be a bit chilly and damp before that. Early fall can still be hot and sunny though, and a September booking will be less busy.

Know before you go

  • Set right on the beach with little tree coverage, the campground can get windy. You’ll need to tether those guy ropes!
  • Pack plenty of bug spray. Because wetlands sit close to Murray Beach Provincial Park, mosquitoes can be a problem, especially at dusk.
  • You’ll need a vehicle to access this secluded park, as there are no transit options.
  • The park is close to the Confederation Bridge that links PEI and New Brunswick, so day trips to that province are a popular option so long as you’re prepared to pay bridge tolls.
