Blueberry Land Tent Platforms

11 sites · RVs, Tents60 acres · Eastport, ME
We have four raised platforms, accessible by car, each with a canvas-covered A-frame, and each with a canvas/sawdust queen size futon bed in it. Each platform is nested in their own private setting around the edges of our 12-acre organic blueberry barren. Three of the platforms are fully screened-in, with stylish canvas-covered timberframes and circular red doors. One is fully covered but does not have screens. Blueberry Land is part of Smithereen Farm. Surrounded by woodlands, the barrens is on Youngs Cove Road, near Reversing Falls. This is an off grid, rustic site with only a port-a-potty. If you need to use any other amenities, you are welcome to use the WIFI, fill your water bottles, charge your electric vehicle and buy supplies at the Smithereen Farm Store (12 Little Falls Road, Pembroke). That's also where you can jump into the Pennamaquan River to cool off after exploring the town by bike. There are beautiful walking, biking and canoeing opportunities in every direction—check out Cobscook Shores, Downeast Coastal Conservancy trail by Reversing falls, Maine Coast Heritage trails on the bold coast and at Sipps Bay. Blueberry bushes are low, native, fruit-growing, covered in flowers in spring and then berries in summer, turning bright bright red in the fall when kissed by frost. Our blueberries are certified organic by MOFGA and surrounded by birch, fir, spruce and flowering perennial beds to improve insect habitat. We ask that you NOT DRIVE ON THE BERRIES! Park in the parking lot, three sites are immediately visible, the fourth site is a further drive down the road, past the port o potty, in the back field to the left. Low hung vehicles beware, if in doubt park in parking lot. Upon booking, we will send you a PDF welcome packet filled with helpful information about the farm, local sites to see, and a comprehensive list of our recommendations. Remember to prepare for MOSQUITOES in summer! We really recommend you approach Washington County as an opportunity to picnic, so bring a pocketknife, a frying pan, a big cooler for butter and milk, a big water jug, a thermos, a camp stove/kettle, warm socks, and a sense of adventure! We wish you a pleasant stay all the way DOWNEAST!

Karen’s Campsite - Boyden Lake

2 sites · Lodging, RVs1 acre · Calais, ME
My great-grandfather had a camp on Boyden’s Lake. My Mom has spent summers at Boyden’s Lake since she was six years old. I grew up spending summers at Boyden’s Lake in the same camp my parents still own. As an adult, I bought a camp on the same lane as my parents’ camp. We call my camp “Karen’s Cabin” to differentiate between the two camps. I have been renting my cabin by the week in the summer. I also own the vacant lot next to my cabin lot. I would like to rent my vacant lot to people with RV’s. A friend of mine suggested that I rent it because more people are traveling in RV’s these days. It is a nice spot, a gravel lot near Boyden’s Lake with beach access. I am posting this on August 10th, 2021. It is available immediately. If all goes well and I rent the lot this year, hopefully, I can get feedback on amenities to add next year. Visit Boyden’s Lake, I hope you like it as much as my family does.

Birch Point Farm

3 sites · Lodging, Tents4 acres · Machiasport, ME
We welcome campers to the beautiful land where we live, a wooded 4 acres on "Birch Point" which juts into the lively salt-water Machias Bay. Your hosts, Lucy and Tyler, are homesteading musicians, currently developing a biodynamic community farm and garden project, with our off-grid house still in construction. Please be aware that you will be entering a *working farm*, full of life! Your stay with us is bound to be social and lively at times. There are places on the land that offer privacy, yet overall it is a cozy and intimate setting. We greatly welcome feedback for being the best homesteader-hosts we can be. ----------------------------------------------------------------- *2024 SUMMER SEASON INFO* - We have a hand-pump on our well that you can use for your fresh water supply 💦 There is no shower or bath option at this time (other than a fresh dip in the bay!) - Our state-of-the-primitive-art out house is available for your use 🌙 tucked into the woods along the path to the overlook and bay beach. - At this time we do *not* have firewood available for sale. If you plan to make a fire in the fire pit (which is 100% welcome!) please bring wood and kindling with you 🔥 - The walk down to the flat rock beach is erosion-prone. Please be aware of your steps and tread lightly to help us keep the natural moss and ground cover in tact! 🌱 --------------------------------------------------------------- Mostly wooded with small clearings, this land is a comfortable camping environment. There is a common fire pit in view of the ocean, glinting through the trees. Wild animals, like deer and foxes, and many bird species abound, filling the land with life and song. We’re so grateful to live on this piece of paradise, and wish to share the beauty and magic of the land with you! On the bold coast of Downeast Maine, we offer (a) tent sites in a grove of young maple trees, and (b) a canvas bell tent atop a wooden platform with a double-mattress. Both of these options are easily accessible from the parking area. A short saunter through the woods will bring you to an open water vista, overlooking a tidal bay fed by the Machias River. These are very refreshing (chilly!) and strong tidal waters. There are also beautiful (warmer) lakes and many hiking trails nearby, notably the Cutler Bold Coast Trail with epic seaside cliffs. Expect the area to be relatively buggy in summer months, and prepare to do head-to-toe tick checks! We’re about a 10 minute drive from the town of Machias where you can fill up on supply and provisioning needs. We're about 30 minutes from Lubec and 50 minutes from Eastport, two lovely seaside towns with art galleries, cafés, restaurants, and abundant coastal view points. We look forward to welcoming you and your close ones soon for a visit on Birch Point :-)

River to Lake Camping

1 site · RV, Tent2 acres · Pembroke, ME
Explore the breath taking beauty of coastal downeast Maine from this gorgeous and quiet campsite along the Pennamaquon River. This remote 2-acre property is surrounded by woods and connects two beauties--the Pennamaqoun Lake and Passamaquody Bay. The rocky Maine Coast, Reversing falls, the Sunrise Trail and the Moosehorn Wildlife Refuge are all nearby. Going up the river about 1/4 of a mile you will find yourself on a quiet lake where you are more likely to see an eagle than a person. About a 1/4 of a mile downriver you will come to a popular swim hole, dam, rope swing, and at the right time of year, lots of spawning alewives. Whether you float up, down or stay put on the dock, you may see ducks, eagles, king fisher, heron, beavers, turtles (or their nests) and loon. You won't need your binoculars to catch site of the occasional Mainer floating by in a handmade wooden boat specially designed to navigate the river and sail the lake. If you wave, you might get a wave back. Or even better, venture out yourself in our Maine Made wooden row boat, specially designed for shallow waters. It's a soul restoring place appreciated most by those who like human powered activities--like kayaks, canoes and paddle boards (all provided) and a chance to cook on an open fire. No extra charge for the 2 picnic tables and 4 Adirondack chairs and an opportunity to disconnect from wifi. You might also like to swim or float down the river in an inner tube. You can fish on the dock or from your boat. If you have a bike-- head to the nearby Sunrise Trail or country roads. Head there too, if you have shoes and want a measured run (it goes about 87 miles through field, forest, swamp and bog with mileage noted). Eastport is a nearby seaside town with an arts center, shops and dining about 15 minutes away. You can go whale watching or to learn about sea creatures with Diver Ed. You might just see porpoise, whales, eagles and Old Sow Whirlpool, the largest whirlpool in the Americas. Or stay on shore, and hunt for sea glass and cool rocks. Grab something to eat while you are there, and check out Don Dunbar's amazing nature photography and local gifts. There is also coastal hiking at Shackford Head. You might also head towards Lubec (about 45 minutes) and go on a breath taking coastal hike on the Bold Coast trail, or visit the Quoddy Head Lighthouse. Do not miss Monica and her amazing handmade chocolates! Canada is about 30 minutes away. St. Andrew's has a European feel and charm with gifts and nice restaurants. For a really fancy night out, go to the Rossmont or Algonquin. Hope to host you some time soon--bring your animals and kids. They will love it too.

Woodlot Farm Campin

5 sites · Tents15 acres · Calais, ME
Technically 2 lots in total with a combined 15 acres of the land that is mostly wooded. There is about an acre of non-wooded land that includes a gravel driveway that is very wide in the middle, which is an RV and cargo trailer pad to accommodate campers' rigs. There are 2 entrances for Woodlot Farm off of Steam Mill Rd, which turns into a fantastic, popular jeep/ATV rd (also used for hiking and mountain biking) at the property. There is a small organic farm that operates on site. It is very peaceful and quiet onsite. There is a small chicken coop and fenced area next to the RV pad for our dozen plus chickens. There is a 1/2 acre vegetable/flower/herb garden at the far entrance. There is a porta-potty on site. The half acre pond is mostly spring fed, so it's great for taking a dip to cool off when it's hot. Star gazing is recommended on clear nights as the light pollution is very low. The lightning bugs, owl hoots and frog chirps are an audible treat for relaxation. A great spot for ATV enthusiasts to pitch a tent right at the trail that connects to nearby lakes and numerous other trails. Make a special adventure out of it, and have a grand Maine camping experience.
