We can all watch the birds- big and small, visit trees and waterfowl migrating with the seasons over the wetland. Silent Lake is a beautiful provincial park 15 minutes' drive to the north with more cross country ski trails, a front-country zero motor boat lake (hence the name). There are walk-in and car-camping sites at Silent Lake. Our property nearly backs into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park; at nearly 40,000 hectares it's the largest provincial park south of Algonquin. We can give you lots of tips on canoe tripping routes through the park, from easy to difficult, or you can just head into the park for the day, head to Loon Call Lake boat access for a swim & picnic- we strongly recommend the annual Ontario Parks Day Use Permit- totally worth it. Given that North Kawartha Hideaway is located on Highway 28, we are first served in terms of road maintenance in the winter months. Highway 28 has seen some significant roadwork improvements from Peterborough to Apsley over the last 5 years, all wrapped up now, so it’s just a bit slower on the cottage-going weekends.

Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield.  The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion.  It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort.  The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. Natalie and Seth's barn was overall a great experience! We enjoyed all the extras that were provided to us: entertainment system, well stocked kitchen, etc. The art pieces were also a nice addition too. We all slept great and warm. Our only complaint would be that the toilet smell was a little difficult to tame for us. The sawdust helped a bit but still had a faint smell in the downstairs living space so we had to vent out the barn every few hours to get some fresh air. Hope to come back soon! My partner and I loved staying in the dome, our dogs had a blast playing with Max and Ruby too, sweetest pups I ever met. It was amazing sleeping under the stars and the moon. It was like camping but a lot better. Mitch was very attentive and made our stay an 11/10. If you forget something civilization is close by so don’t fret. The pond and the land surrounding the dome is breathtaking. If you want to sleep under the stars surrounded by nature add this trip to your bucket list you will not be disappointed !

We stayed at the Hemlock Grove site with 7 people, 3 cars and had plenty of room! We had 2 hammocks and 3 tents, this site is great for hammocking. Brent was very accommodating and provided all the information we needed. Unfortunately we got hit with some bad weather, but I would recommend Tryfan Forest to anyone looking to enjoy a quiet weekend on a beautiful piece of land.

Dale's yurt-style tent was an excellent spot for us to meet up and rest for one night before our canoe trip in the Kawartha Highlands. We are a small hobby farm set within a mature forest setting. There are two, newly built tiny home bunkies that are situated in private areas of our property, yet close enough to our main house for security, Each bunkie has a modern outhouse with composting toilets and non potable water for washing Guests will have the opportunity to commune with nature as we have a multitude of bird species and there is always good possibilities of wildlife viewing, as guests stroll down the nature trails. There are plenty of very cool areas along the trail where guests are able to participate in forest bathing/meditation or can just relax and listen to the wind rustling through the leaves of the trees. We have a couple of very gentle horses on our farm, that if anyone wishes, can schedule a time meet them and do some therapy grooming. There is also a small flock of egg laying hens that are quite social. We have a small on site store, which has some beautiful wood crafts that are created in our woodworking shop. Live-edge wood tables/charcuterie boards and other beautiful pieces as well as a large display of gorgeous healing crystals and metaphysical items are available for purchase if that's your interest. We are less than a 10 minute drive to Bobcaygeon, where you can find the world famous Kawartha Dairy, scrumptious restaurants, specialty clothing boutiques, grocery stores and pharmacies. Sturgeon Lake is the predominate lake with fabulous fishing/boating/ swimming. A 20 minute drive will get you to Fenelon Falls, Buckhorn or Kinmount where you will find the famous Kinmount Movie Theater that have the latest movies available. The Canadian Rail Trail is also nearby for anyone that wants to do some biking/hiking.

Our Campsite is in the small town of Little Britain and is just a few kilometres away, as are the shores of Lake Scugog. Take a free optional tour of our farm, if you wish. Pets are welcome but we ask that they remain to the confines of the site This property sits in a rural area in the Kawartha Lakes region, just north of Lake Scugog. Campfires are allowed in the firepit, and there is a pit toilet. The hosts offer fresh eggs and farm produce to purchase, as well as a firewood bundle that will be ready for you when you arrive; just select the options you are interested in at checkout. The lakes area offers endless boating, paddling, fishing, and hiking opportunities. Nearby attractions include Emily Provincial Park at the bottom of Pigeon Lake, about 35 km east; Ken Reid Conservation Area at the southern tip of Sturgeon Lake, about 25 km north; and Sibbald Point Provincial Park about 50 km west on Lake Simcoe, which has a boat launch, hiking trail, and sandy beach. For restaurants, groceries, and shops, the town of Lindsay is 20 minutes away.

Fifthwind farm is located high on a hilltop in Northumberland county. Our farm is only 10 minutes north of Cobourg yet feels tranquil and remote. The view is spectacular…on a clear day New York State is visible. Our Bunkie is fully insulated and cozy on cold winter nights. The Northumberland Forest is quite close and it offers many cross-country ski trails. Because of the cold weather, our outdoor shower it’s not operable during the winter months. The Bunkie does not have running water, but water is provided, and the sink can still be used. There is a large bonfire area on our farm, (a little bit away from the Bunkie) also a play area for kids including zip line, boat structure, sand box, swing, above ground pool and trampoline; gorgeous circular organic garden with seating area and a small orchard.
