Swartswood State Park

New Jersey’s first state park will draw you in and hold you captive with its beautiful lakes and ponds, meandering trails, secret corners, and amazing sunsets. The lake (like all lakes) is the main attraction. The serene waters of Swartswood Lake are perfect for paddling, swimming, sailing, and fishing. The campground is just a short walk from the lake, making it easy for campers to unzip their tent, and head for the shore. Trails crisscross the park for hiking and biking, and a healthy bald-eagle population thrives in the forest surrounding the lake. There’s ample room for Frisbee, volleyball, and basketball, and leisurely lake-side picnics are mandatory.
