As of April 2026, we experienced massive flooding at our campsite due to rain and snowmelt. We also sustained large tree loss on the property due to an ice storm. Swimming at the main site is available, but highly recommend water shoes or Crocs due to rocks.

Riley Crest Farm is located in Amherst, Wisconsin. Close to Hartman Creek St Park, on the north side of Hwy 54. We are diversified farm. We have a small herd of dairy cows, 50 dairy/meat goats, a horse named Willow and mule named Molly, a couple pigs or chickens in the summer, lots of cats. We specialize in goats for meat. Grazing girls roam 30 acres of pasture close to camping. Our goats are very friendly. We are currently not milking goats. We sell eggs and meat from our farm store.
We have a spring fed 3 acre pond to paddle around if the water level is high enough. Swimming not recommended. Primitive tent and camper sites available. We welcome horses, bring your own fence. Trails on farm for walking or riding and close to Hartman Creek State Park trails. Dogs are okay, but must be on a leash for the safety of our livestock. The farm has been in the family for four generations.
We don't have any livestock anymore and rent the fields to the neighbors but the home, outbuildings and five acres are well-loved and used as our home base and also for rustic weddings, graduation parties, reunions and barn dances.
In 1974, the farm was used as the location for the TV movie "Things in Their Season" starring Patricia O'Neal.
We put up one of the first barn quilts in the county and are on the route of the Bike the Barn Quilts bike ride (held last Saturday in September.)

"The Twenty" is a neat campsite right on the Little Wolf River. This land has been in my family for generations. My dad tells stories of fishing the holes while they made hay when he was a kid. Definitely fishing opportunities, as well as floating down the river (tube, canoe, kayak, sup). There's a nice swimming hole right out from the campsite.
The other property is on my pasture-based farm. It's a few miles from the Little Wolf. There is the "FarmStay" Camper, as well as a couple campsites nestled in the woods with a great views of the pastures, woods, and wetlands.
We've also recently added a pond that's able to be used by our guests to swim in!
There are 100+ acres that can explored on this 100% pasture-based beef operation. We're working on improving the trails. It's beautiful out there!

Beautiful site and Rachel is an amazing host. We had an issue with the porta potty and she was out the next morning to resolve it herself. My dogs enjoyed running free in around thr river. The directions the host gave to the property were spot on. I just threw a pin where she said it was located and Google maps pretty much took me right there. Thank you for being so accommodating and responsive!

This was our second time staying at Riverside Roost and I can’t write enough good things about it. The hosts are amazing, the communication is exceptional, and the little extras made us feel so welcome. Despite some rain, we fished, swam, kayaked, built a fire and more. It’s a great location with plenty of space for 8 of us and multiple tents/pop-ups. We’ll be back again next summer. Only advice is to bring good bug spray! The flies and mosquitos are plentiful.

The photos on Hipcamp do not convey the beauty and expansiveness of this location. There are so many tuckaways and places to explore and find peace in a fern-gemmed forest, and the river wraps around the property like a hug.
Michael, the host, was eager and helpful. He had tubes and kayaks available for the river, and I want to return for the tubing!

Staying here was a true highlight of my trip! It’s essentially glamping here! They take great care of the place and have everything you could need for a perfect night. The bathrooms were clean which was very important to me. The indoor rec space they have is perfect for a rainy day or to hangout in the evening, we had the whole space to ourselves even with other people camping around. Campsite #4 was spacious and felt secluded, even though campsite #5 was a quick walk away. We would most definitely stay here again!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Clearwater Camp in Waupaca. The entire property was exceptionally clean and well cared for, and it was clear that the owners take a lot of pride in creating a comfortable and welcoming experience for their guests.
The amenities were fantastic and made the stay feel easy and relaxing. The clubhouse was especially cool—a great space to hang out, unwind, and enjoy some time together. It added something unique that you do not always find at a typical campsite.
The owners were incredibly gracious, friendly, and accommodating. They made us feel genuinely welcome while still giving us plenty of space to enjoy the property. Between the cleanliness, thoughtful amenities, beautiful setting, and outstanding hospitality, Clearwater Camp exceeded our expectations.
We had a great time and would absolutely stay here again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, peaceful, and memorable camping experience in the Waupaca area!

Do public campgrounds seem generic? Cookie cutter? Lack any sort of personality? Packed liked sardines? Michael has created an oasis of eclectic hospitality that exudes pure magic! You literally camp right on the Plover River, maybe, just maybe with another site farther down river and out of site. I had the place to myself the nights I stayed and fell asleep to the gentle sound of the river rolling over rocks by the historic mill. Firewood onsite, kayaks to use, bicycles, porta potties, disc golf baskets benches everywhere to ponder ones thoughts. Perfect for tent camping and car/van camping. Simply incredible! Thank you Michael, such an amazing human and host. I'll be back!

This was my first time camping and I feel blessed! Such a beautiful experience. Our campsite was spacious, super close to the bathrooms/showers. Hosts/owners were very communicative and friendly. Staff (shoutout to Ana) was super kind and helpful as well! The convenience store had everything you could think of. You could see the stars at night, hear the birds all day long, and you might run into a baby fox at night! Truly such a cool experience. I told my friends that if this is what all camping is like I’d do it all the time! They assured me that this was unique and shared camping horror stories from their past. So, I’m grateful. Would definitely come again! I’d especially like to take advantage of the rafting/kayaking experiences when the river isn’t so low. Thank you all so much!

This campsite is phenomenal! Not only are the hosts friendly and available, but they provide a beautiful clean environment. Its tucked back, so when you're camping it's hard to believe there's a road close by. They provide a plethora of perks that are meant to optimize your experience (ex. Canoes, paddle boards,optional string lights)
If you want to enjoy a quiet camping experience this is amazing, but if you need anything or are looking for a social interaction there are not enough nice things to say about the hosts!

Camping at Shin Go Beek was a great experience for my family and I. I'm an experienced back country camper who prefers less amenities if it means privacy, stars and swimming/hiking. My kid and husband aren't a fan of the outdoors much at all.
Lower Bluff was the perfect middle ground for us with nice flat tent spots, enclosed pit toilets and even running water.
It was quite and tucked away but a short walk to the lake where my dog and I spent most of our time, and plenty of nice walking paths. It's also not too far from a few good hikes!
The lake was a great way to cool off and the stars at night were outstanding, highly recommend sitting on the dock and gazing for a bit.
Hopefully we will find ourselves back in Wisconsin soon so we can stop by again!

We've stayed here 2 times already! Adam came and introduced himself to us on our first stay. He gave us a little history of clearwater camp and himself. We enjoyed it so much we decided to stay a 2nd time! Site 7 is secluded and great for large or small groups. The rec building is a great addition for the stay, a little bit of something to do. You can also hike around the campground, there's a trail that takes you all around. Looking forward to staying here again!

Great facilities, location, and staff. Sites are big and there is a lot of tree cover. Very convenient for river or hiking activities in the area. Nicely stocked front office. Quiet area, though the group sites can be a little loud and go into the morning.

2 nights at River Forest Campground & Rafting
This area is great for being one with wilderness and unplugging. That being said, be prepared as the main store has wifi but other than that not much for service for looking up maps, music exc. Pack your radio, be ready to float down the river and unwind. My host was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area and I had a great 2 day stay. Portapotties where well maintained.

I appreciated how well they accommodated us and helped with some little things we needed. Swimming in the river and using the kayaks and SUPs was great! We had everything we needed! The sites were spacious and close to the parking. Lots of shade for the hot days. There is road noise nearby and train noise but otherwise everything was great!

As soon as I arrived, the welcoming host Jackie greeted me and provided me with all the necessary information about my stay. The place is immaculately clean and equipped with everything I needed to escape the hustle and bustle of work. Regrettably, I had to leave early due to work commitments, but I highly recommend this campsite.
