About the hosts: Camas and her father, Randy, co-host this property. One or both will be onsite at all times should any issue arise. Please message if you need a last-minute booking and it appears to be blocked. We can't do an "instant book," but there's always a possibility that we can accommodate you.
About the site:
This 17-foot 2005 Jay Feather Ultra Lite trailer is clean and cozy - perfect for one or two people. A third person is welcome, but it will likely be a little cramped. The double bed has a memory foam mattress and is made-up with quality sheets. Towels are provided at no extra cost.
The kitchen has a 3 burner propane stove and oven, a small fridge, a microwave, and sink. Coffee, tea, tea kettle, French Press, creamer, and sugar are provided, as well as a few dishes, a pot and pan, and utensils.
The spring water is sourced directly from our property and filtered, so you can enjoy it from the tap! In my opinion, it's some of the best water around - feel free to fill up before you depart.
The site is set back from WA-State Route 106, but only by about 20 yards. There is traffic noise during the day, but it's not too bad, and it is typically pretty quiet at night. Hopefully you enjoy the sounds of wildlife ~ birds, lapping waves, and even a creek add to the experience.
A panoramic view of the estuary is one of the best parts of this property. It's dreamy, really. With the tide changing every 6 hours, you just can't get bored. You may fall asleep to tide flats and wake up to what feels like a lake.
If you like being on or in the water - bring some kayaks, surf or paddle boards, and some high quality water shoes (never go barefoot!). You will have access to 400 feet of private beach and tide flats. Kayaking is tide dependent - recommendations for paddle times will be in the binder.
(Currently closed to harvesting 6/23) If you have your shellfish license, feel free to harvest a few oysters or clams (depending on DOH recommendations) . Be aware - it is a rustic beach, and it is across the highway, so watch for traffic and watch your step on the beach.
Our house is within sight of the trailer, but you have to make an effort to see it. From our house, we can only see the parking spot, and due to shrubbery & a shed, we can't hear talking voices, so it is pretty private. We do have 2 very friendly, small dogs who will undoubtedly alert us to your arrival, but they stay on our deck and quiet down right away.
A welcome binder and maps will help you get an idea of the area. For a tiny town, Union has a LOT to offer - there are several dining choices within a few miles. Union was even listed in the top 10 "Prettiest Towns in America" in Forbes Magazine in 2009!

16 idyllic acres across the street from the salmon rich Skokomish Estuary with incredible views of the Olympic Mountains across Hood Canal. I live in a historic house which is surrounded by a large front lawn, more than enough room for about 6 tents. Behind the house is a wooded hill (120ft elevation) with some rare old growth trees. Hello, This space overlooks the Tahuya Valley to the south and sits along the edge of a deep, forested gully to the east. Once described as a sea of evergreens, rightfully, as decades ago, this whole area grew christmas trees, so we like to think alot of the +40 year old trees where just left to grow for lumber once they stopped farming holiday trees!
It feels very remote as it is very quite here, though on a dead air day during commute hours, you'll hear distant road noise, that's about it, often the wind, rain, and the birds drown it out completely.

Valley Ridge Lookout – Largest, the upper site, now with new 22' TiPi. Huge views, outdoor sink; cold shower, and outhouse nearby.
Gully Vista (special request) hike-in, tent/hammock site, via a narrow trail down into the gully.
West Perch – Smaller site with water and power, tucked along the western edge, pull through parking. Rebuilding for future home of TiPi.
Side Step – Closed.
Most guests tent camp or bring vans. If your trailering, and the trailer weighs more than your vehicle, this place is not for you.
✅ What Makes This Place Special:
Big south skies—great for moon/stargazing.
Backs up to 150+ acres of state timberlands, with a new personal link trail that connects the camp to the Howell Lake trail. Tight trails at first then opens up to ORV trails.
We’ve got firewood— not perfectly dry but it burns. Kindling recommended in wet seasons for starting.
Trash-free land. Please keep it clean, you're welcome to burn paper products and I encourage you to buy more paper and less plastic. Please pack out all waste with you.
⚠️ A Few Notes:
Steep drops —stay alert, especially at night.
1-mile dirt driveway is bumpy—take it slow please, more so during dust season.
New 2022 Well, Fresh water, but I can't legally recommend drinking it since it flows via temporary water setups. Can fill tanks directly from the well if asked.

Incredibly peaceful, indeed. You will see deer and bunnies all around the yard. Great hosts who helped me back up into my spot and offered me some delicious soup. Also, try a gyro at the Sunset Beach Grocery & Deli about 10 minutes down the road, they are absolutely delicious.

Loved how communicative Jim was, from checking with me about arrival time, the site was clean, it was very spacious, the listing says it can fit more people with tents and I can totally see the space for it, this time was just me and I had a lot of space to park my car and camp. The gender neutral porta potty was clean and had access to potable water too. I would stay with him again FOR SURE, and I’ll recommend it to my friends.

Gary was an excellent host! The Wanderbus and hot tub were just what we needed to escape the city life for the weekend. Everything was well stocked and there were some unexpected provisions that made it clear that Gary puts a lot of thought into having guest stay in his community. The setup also showed Gary’s passion and enthusiasm for creating the world around you, from the creativity & whimsy to the skillful woodworking & craftsmanship. It was a great convenience to have a toilet and sink, and actually hot water, super luxurious. It was really easy and relaxing to have the place to ourselves. Three of us had a great time tent camping at Site #3! Plenty of space for tents and hanging out around the campfire. We had the place to ourselves as the other 2 sites were unoccupied, which made the camp extra peaceful with the sound of the creek and only occasional road noise from 101 way down the hill. The portapotty was extra clean and had a light inside, plus solar lights outside to find it in the night. The owner Jim went above and beyond taking us on a tour of his oyster farm, showing us how the farm works, explaining the oyster life cycle, and letting us harvest oysters ourselves! We went back up to camp with dozens of oysters that we shucked around the campfire. The “little Lillies” are briny and complex, we ended up buying a few dozen from Jim on our 2nd night. Highly recommended for anyone who loves the Hood Canal and the freshest oysters. What a dream camping trip 🥰🦪🏕️

We had a wonderful time here. I’ve passed this place dozens of times over the years but never stopped by, I wish we had sooner! Clean, quiet campground with tons of amenities. Staff were wonderful and it’s close to tons of great hiking trails!
Full RV hookups. WiFi, great cell reception with AT&T. They also had a nice hot tub, laundry facilities, and a dock across the road with some great views of the water.

The Wanderbus was incredible! I absolutely adored this gem of a place and the entire property was so whimsically lovely :) The bus itself was gorgeous with all of the woodwork Gary did to make it feel cozy. The bed and pillows were beyond comfy.
He is a fantastic host, incredibly friendly, and very responsive. I would absolutely stay here again and hope to visit another time soon! My only regrets were missing out on the the hot tub and having to cut my stay short due to unforeseen circumstances, with which Gary was very kind and understanding. Thank you so much for everything!!
