This is a working farm, we have animals, dirt, sticks, bugs, poop, and lots of opportunities to "connect" with Nature. All of our amenities are shared spaces, designed to foster community. You will find signs posted around the property with clear communication. All of our lodgings are off-grid with no electricity or running water. Water, electricity, and WIFI are available in the shared kitchen, garden, cafe, and lounging areas. Please bring battery-operated lights, bedding, and a pillow, unless otherwise noted.

Our 28 acres are located in between Maple Falls and Glacier, Wa, directly on Mt Baker Hwy on the way to Beautiful Mt Baker.
Ben and Tyne run a chemical free farm, on which we raise 7 and 1/2 acres of veggie and flower. 15 acres of pastureland on which we raise pasture raised chicken, as well as biannual lamb and beef.
The remainder of our land is breathtaking Pacific Northwest forest that is boarded by the Bay to Baker trail.
Our campsites range between walk in wooded sites, and car camping sites that are open field sites next to the tree line. We provide wagons in our cart corral area to make it more convenient for the very short walk in. ( no more then a 200 foot walk in)
We have a very nice composting outhouse and hand-washing station. We do not have water for drinking or a dishwashing sink, but if you are in a pinch just ask Ben or Tyne and we can help you out.
We want all of our campers happy, comfy, and to have the best time here. :)
We have a beautiful cedar grove to enjoy for lounging and picnics. The Bay to Baker trail borders our property, so it is just steps away and includes a 45 min round walk to a quaint little waterfall (maple falls). As well as a nature loop trail. You can also walk the other direction on the trail over a boardwalk. This direction walks along the back of the farm and allows you to see the veggie fields from a distance. Yofu can continue on the bay to baker trail for a nice walk.
There is a conservation area, just a quarter mile drive down the road. With access to the Nooksack river, that includes several nice swimming spots and a couple nice walking trials.
Silver Lake is just 3.8 miles away. It has a great recreation area, fun for the whole family.
Just a heads up , you will probably lose service on your drive up here. But you will get service back when you are here.
We suggest putting the map in your phone before you leave. Google maps will take you just past the farm, and apple maps will stop you too soon.

Nestled in Greenbank, Washington, Fern Gully, is an old horse farm that has been transformed into a Hip Camp. We’re delighted to welcome you back to our farm in 2025! We have installed new signage to facilitate site identification. Many of you were familiar with my sister, Morgan. She has recently relocated to Texas. My name is Erin. My boyfriend, Dave, and I reside in the farmhouse. My mother, Lauren, also makes her home here. We have discovered several exceptional camping spots on our 15-acre property. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the forest or lounge in our stargazing hammock circle.
During the summer months, from July to September, our farm will be ablaze with seasonal fruit, including blackberries, cherries, apples, and salmonberries. Our expansive fields and wooded surroundings are also home to a diverse array of wildlife, such as bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, barn swallows, quail, and their offspring. Deer and occasional coyotes roam the property, but rest assured, they are apprehensive of us and pose no threat.
We derive great pleasure from spending time outdoors, so you may frequently observe us engaged in fieldwork, construction, or simply relaxing in our stargazing hammock circle. We are always available to provide you with space or invite you to join us. We derive immense satisfaction from meeting new individuals and have numerous recommendations for Whidbey Island, including the delectable blueberry stand in Freeland and the Mutiny Bay Blues, a venue that we can either recommend or provide directions to.
We eagerly anticipate your visit. Fern Gully is conveniently located just a two-minute drive from the charming Greenbank Pantry. Where you can indulge in delectable sandwiches and quench your thirst with refreshing Topo Chico or a bottle of wine. For a scenic excursion, venture to South Whidbey State Park, a six-minute drive away. Where you can embark on exhilarating hiking trails along the breathtaking coastline. At 180 acres Glendale Farm in Chimacum, in operation since 1857, is one of the largest single agricultural properties remaining in Jefferson County. The farm includes prime agricultural soils, over half a mile of East Chimacum Creek, and forested areas. The easement protects a buffer zone for salmon and wildlife habitat along the east fork of Chimacum Creek and protects the agricultural and forestry values of the property forever. Jefferson Land Trust and collaborative partners purchased the easement to Insure Glendale farm maintains agricultural practices and wildlife habitat forever! Please be aware this is a working farm with poultry, livestock, and the use of farm equipment providing a great experience for farm life.
Glendale Farm experienced a devastating loss in 2022 when the primary residence burned down. Since then, we have been engaged in a long-term restoration effort, including extensive cleanup from an extreme hoarding situation.
Please wear sturdy shoes at all times, as we are still carefully removing glass and other sharp debris from parts of the property. You may encounter old farm equipment, a few derelict RVs, and other remnants of the site's history as we continue this work.
We appreciate your patience as we gradually improve the farm with future showers, a communal kitchen, gathering spaces, and enhanced landscaping. Your stay directly supports these ongoing improvements.

I've been here with my dogs through a non-camping app several times, but this was the first time getting to stay overnight, and it was every bit as perfect as it is when we only get to be there 2 hours at a time during the day. The bunkhouse and privy were immaculate and the futon was super comfortable for sleeping. As always, the trails are loads of fun and a choose your own adventure (and exertion) kind of way. There was only one other camper this night, and they were gone most of the time so we had everything almost to ourselves. In perfect symbolism, a gorgeous rainbow appeared over the top of the barn while I was loading the car to leave.

Another great camping weekend at Valhalla! It was our toddlers first tent camping trip and it was the perfect spot! The new upgraded outhouse was a welcome change :). 10/10 would recommend this site for a safe, secluded, peaceful and beautiful retreat. Will be back.

The cabin was neat and tidy and fit 3 adults and 2 small dogs comfortably. The trails were beautiful and the creeks even more so. Margaret had extra food and supplies we needed available for purchase at reasonable prices and the privy was extremely clean! We didn’t end up paying to pet the pony but even just seeing em there was nice! Our site was far enough from other sites that we didn’t have any noise issues or feel any lack of privacy. They also went above and beyond and provided beautiful vases of Dahlias in the cabin and outhouse. Overall it was a wonderful stay :)

The A Frame is such a special place! Easy to get to but feels secluded and very peaceful. The cabin had all the camping amenities we needed and the wood stove + hot shower were the cherries on top.

We enjoyed staying in the Misty Meadows group site. Margaret created a space perfect for groups. The composting toilets were so cute, can I say that about an outdoor toilet? Our group enjoyed the walking trails through the woods and the meadow during golden hour was beautiful. We had a storm our first night and the covered shelter was a lifesaver.

The directions from Dave were very clear, had no problem finding it.
I felt very safe here, as there are 2 gates to go through, had the best sleep in a long time!
It's a very big, beautiful property with so many hiking trails to explore,
We loved it!
The cabin was perfect, nice to have running water!

This cabin was so amazing! We rented it for my husband's birthday and it did not disappoint! It was clean, the grounds are secluded and it's so quiet. The hosts do a great job of making things easy to figure out. All the directions and instructions are very easy to follow.

Our 2nd time back. The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful. The camp sites are spaced very well so felt pretty private. There was only one other camper there at the time and we only saw them in passing. This particular camp site was perfect for our new doggo on her first camping outing without fear of her getting distracted by other campers. Love the creek and bridge that runs through it. Dreamy! It is a short walk from parking to the camp site, the supplied wheel barrow helps a lot! The bridge is rough hewn logs so gotta watch your feet going over.

4 nights at Rusty Ranch Tree Farm and Forest
I stayed in the bunkhouse for a couple days while visiting WA for a buddy’s wedding. It was such a gorgeous and peaceful stay. The trails on property are very well kept and boast some beautiful scenery. Awesome stay, would definitely recommend!

Our family loves staying at Rusty Ranch Tree Farm! The site and outhouse is always impeccable and it's a fun family-friendly place to stay. My very active boys love being able to play on the playground, explore the trails and creek, and have farm fresh eggs in the morning. Love staying here whether we're just hanging out or have a quiet home base for exploring Bellingham.

This was such a great find. Our 2 dogs had the time of their life and we got to relax, enjoy the property and explore Bow - Edison. Beth and Matt were so friendly and accommodating. Having flush toilets was a plus and we even braved a cold shower. Close to I5 and easy to get to gorgeous scenic country drives and charming towns.

Great camping experience. Beautiful location near a calm, picturesque bay. Surprisingly quiet campground even when full. Accommodated our group and large tent by moving us to a more spacious RV site with flat lawn. Clean bathrooms with flush toilets and inexpensive hot showers.

Generous space for tenting at Popcorn Pond. Far enough for minimal mosquitoes. Perfect spots to view the large pond from hammocks. Access to the road and trails for venturing. The rock face mountain is a real treat. The stave chapel was quaint. Definitely would love to try the A-Frame cabin some time. Dave’s communication was excellent. A true gem for getting peace and quiet. And not too far from Granite Falls for pizza or breakfast at Stilly’s in Arlington. Perfect all around.

Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve all of the park’s 172 tent sites, 134 partial-hookup sites, and five hiker/biker sites online.
- Deception Pass is a popular state park. Reservations should be made in advance, especially for summer weekends. All campsites can be reserved online, up to nine months in advance of the arrival date.
- The Ben Ure Cabin on Ben Ure Island is accessible only by kayak or rowboat, and guests must bring their own water.
When to go
Deception Pass State Park is open year-round. In the Coastal Northwest’s relatively mild climate, there’s never a bad time to visit. Summers, especially on weekends and holidays, are very busy here. But come in the shoulder season—in the spring or early summer, before July 4—or early fall, after Memorial Day, and you’re more likely to find seclusion. Weekdays are generally a better bet, too.
Know before you go
- You can rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboards at the Bowman Bay concession stand from April through September.
- Visitors will need to display a day-use or annual Discover Pass. The park has automated pay stations dispensing both, along with boat launch permits.
- The park has 1.2 miles of ADA hiking trails, in addition to three miles of bike trails, six miles of horse trails, and 38 miles of hiking trails.
