Cabins in Deception Pass

·

Running between Whidbey Island and Fidalgo Island in Washington's San Juan Islands, Deception Pass has long been a popular summertime getaway for Washingtonians, many of whom come to camp, hike, fish, and take boat trips in the area. Much of this region is occupied by Deception Pass State Park, the most-visited park in the state, and home to hundreds of tent and RV sites spread across three park campgrounds, plus a retreat center—Cornet Bay—with 16 cabins and a duplex vacation rental for large groups. Individual cabins, however, are not available in the park, so campers can look for a private cabin, cottage, or chalet to rent nearby in the San Juans. You'll find the most selection on Whidbey and Orcas islands, with options ranging from traditional rustic cabins and tiny houses to large, family-friendly log cabins.

We are open! This magical, 40-acre, cultivated ecosystem, will wrap around you and leave you enchanted. Enjoy this peaceful, country retreat, as a place to rest and reconnect with the earth and yourself. This is a great place to stop for the night, but one day might not be enough to meander the many paths, drink tea harvested from the herb garden, sit on a bench talking to ancient Maple trees, walk the stone labyrinth, wander the sacred Grove, and camp under the stars. There's so much to enjoy here, from the fragrant rose gardens to the orchards and sheep meadows. Spend the morning sipping tea with a book in the greenhouse, an afternoon wandering the many wooded trails, preparing dinner with vegetables grown from the garden, and enjoying the evening watching the moon and stars come up from the observatory platform. You could take a guided tour of the land and animals, or join one of the many workshops hosted here, such as learning to spin yarn from our herd of Icelandic sheep or take an introduction class to Permaculture. Bring your knitting, friends, or just a favorite book, and spend a few days in this tranquil destination, as this land has something to offer everyone. Please NOTE: This is a working farm, we have animals, dirt, sticks, bugs, poop, and lots of opportunities to "connect" with Nature. All of our amenities are shared spaces, designed to foster community. You will find signs posted around the property with clear communication. All of our lodgings are off-grid with no electricity or running water. Water, electricity, and WIFI are available in the shared kitchen, garden, cafe, and lounging areas. Please bring battery-operated lights, bedding, and a pillow, unless otherwise noted. Arlington, WA · 5 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging
Nestled near Arlington, our 75-acre property spans both new and old forest, featuring a salmon-filled creek and a large beaver pond—all set against the dramatic backdrop of a 1,200-foot sheer rocky cliff crowned with old-growth trees. Since its purchase in 1958 as a family retreat, this land has grown into much more than a getaway. It has become a place for relaxation, adventure, and connection with nature—a private forest for family and friends to enjoy. Over the years, the family has adopted forest stewardship and sustainable timber harvesting practices, while also developing campsites, trails, hosting rock concerts, and even producing wine. What began as a simple escape has evolved into something extraordinary: a tree farm that successfully balances nearly every goal a forest landowner could imagine—timber production, wildlife habitat, natural beauty, recreation, and forest resilience. Valhalla embodies all of this with harmony. We think you will feel the unusual vibe.

Chuckanut Mountain Forest Retreat

Bellingham, WA · 1 site
Located on Chuckanut Drive, this secluded off-grid cabin offers a rare combination of forest solitude and ocean proximity. A short 5-minute walk uphill leads you into a quiet forested sanctuary on 20 acres of private land. Experience being completely immersed in nature, yet just across the road from the beach and steps away from the interurban trail system that gives access to miles of exploring and trails. Inside the cabin you will find a warm, cozy space designed for rest and simplicity. This is an off-grid cabin that requires a peaceful 5-minute walk uphill through a private forest. We recommend that guests pack their belongings in backpacks to ensure an easeful experience. Off-grid means that there is minimal electricity and no running water. There is an overhead light and a charging port for cell phones. There is fresh filtered spring water from the land for drinking that has been tested and is exceptional. We are delighted to offer this gift from the land. There is a double burner stove-top with a complementary tea, coffee, and miso soup station. You are welcome to bring other varieties of soup. We ask guests not to cook anything else in this space. We provide restaurant and trail recommendations in our welcome binder in the cabin. There is an outhouse with a composting toilet for use. There is hand sanitizer wipes available for hand washing. Need a shower? Larabee State park is located 1 min away by car and there are public showers for use. Or rinse off in ocean! We want the expectations of the experience to be very clear so that guests know what to expect. This is an incredible sanctuary and we strive for simplicity. You have full-use of the cabin and are free to explore the forest. You are welcome to use the interurban trail which allows for hiking, biking, and walking down to the beach. Follow the trail 1.5 miles down to Clayton Beach OR access Wildcat Cove across the street (we recommend driving there). Access Fragrance Lake Trail from the interurban trail about .5 miles away. We are immersed amongst incredible trails on the Chuckanut Mountain. Mountain bike? We are smack dab in the middle of mountain bike heaven. We are also located 7 minutes from downtown Fairhaven where you can enjoy phenomenal food and shopping.

This property is supposedly one of the first homesteads in Jordan Road. This information is based on stories from some old timers my husband had spoken to in the past when he bought this property in 2002. The owner back in the old days sold off parcels and parcels of lands back then. The property is all fenced in, a place where your fur buddy can run free so you don't have to worry of the baby getting lost! Hopefully you'll get a visit from a deer and hear the hooting of the owl. :) The surroundings are peaceful and private, you will enjoy exploring the trails all around the 9 acres out of 12 we are sharing. Stroll down the hill to listen to the sounds of the creek and fish ladder. Booking the cabins.. fyi.. they're off grid - NO electricity, you Bring your Water, but I provide some lanterns for lighting. Our campground cabins are about 4.9 miles from the 'Granite Falls Fish Ladder'. Visit this beauty at Mountain Loop Highway if you fancy a little hike. Drive around 7 miles to the 'Lime Kiln Trailhead. The trail is full of amazing views and history. Our place is only about 45 minutes from Seattle. Why not pack your tent and sleeping bags then drive here after work, then leave in the morning. Leave your worries behind.. enjoy nature.

Wake up in the woods to fresh espresso pulled by certified baristas — yes, really. Forest Farm is a cozy camp tucked into 50 private acres of lush PNW forest, lovingly tended as part of our work as sustainable forest stewards and farmers. Great for couples, friends, and families with kids ages 7 and up. Our forest trails, hidden swing set, fire ring, and resident dragon make for the kind of woodland magic that kids love. Have a younger one? We consider littler adventurers on a case-by-case basis — just message us before booking. Working remotely? Trade your home office for the forest. With strong cell signal, reliable wifi, device charging, and a covered common area that makes a surprisingly good outdoor desk, Basecamp works beautifully as a weekday workation — deep-focus days among the trees, barista-made espresso instead of the office machine, and trails to wander on your lunch break. Ask us about midweek and extended stays. Just a short hop from the Seattle ferry, spend your days exploring charming Kitsap towns, kayaking the shoreline, beachcombing, or chasing the bioluminescence tours at Port Gamble — then come home to the quiet of the trees. Or simply slow down: wander the trails, find the swing set hidden like a secret, gather around the fire ring, and gaze up at a sky full of stars. Stay at Basecamp, our pair of charming wooden A-frame cabins near the farmstead, with common area, pellet stove, hammock, and fire ring all to yourself. Add our optional morning coffee service — guests say it makes the stay feel more like a rustic B&B than a campsite. Feeling adventurous? Venture into our back 40, where secluded clearings, creek access, and winding trails wait to be explored. Good to know: portable toilet, potable water, sink, and charging stations provided. Bring your camp basics and a sense of wonder.
