This information is based on stories from some old timers my husband had spoken to in the past when he bought this property in 2002. The owner back in the old days sold off parcels and parcels of lands back then. The property is all fenced in, a place where your fur buddy can run free so you don't have to worry of the baby getting lost! Hopefully you'll get a visit from a deer and hear the hooting of the owl. :) The surroundings are peaceful and private, you will enjoy exploring the trails all around the 9 acres out of 12 we are sharing. Stroll down the hill to listen to the sounds of the creek and fish ladder. Booking the cabins.. fyi.. they're off grid - NO electricity, you Bring your Water, but I provide some lanterns for lighting. Our campground cabins are about 4.9 miles from the 'Granite Falls Fish Ladder'. Visit this beauty at Mountain Loop Highway if you fancy a little hike. Drive around 7 miles to the 'Lime Kiln Trailhead. The trail is full of amazing views and history. Our place is only about 45 minutes from Seattle. Why not pack your tent and sleeping bags then drive here after work, then leave in the morning. Leave your worries behind.. enjoy nature.

Soon we will be getting our winter high tides, sometimes the high water almost kisses the deck. Can be exciting. Come stay in our cabin at the estuary on Turners Bay, where wildlife is abundant and easy to see. The Bamboo cabin is very private and has everything you need to just hang out. Saltgrass's location allows for many fun outdoor activities such as hiking at Anacortes Washington Park or Kukutali Preserve State Park crabbing, fishing, birding, bicycling and, the beach, my kids actually found a bottle with a message inside years ago. Alternatively, you could explore the many little shops in the towns of La Conner and Anacortes. There are multiple activities available, I would suggest calling ahead in order to book kayaking, rock climbing, whale watching, or a sailing charter. You could easily take a day trip to the San Juan Islands by taking a ferry ride out of Anacortes, walk on or book ahead if you are taking your car. Also, the Swinomish Casino and golf course are within two miles. While you're here you may meet our pup Turner, we also have two cats and several chickens. On the property are your hosts Jeri and Nancy, as well as our handyman Sean, Saltgrass boasts beautiful flowers, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and yes, the Bay. We try to live harmoniously with the land. We would love to share our space with you! . We thank you all for visiting our place and hope we meet your expectations. October 10, 2025, A new addition to the bamboo cabin; we built gates that allow you to secure the deck as an outside space for your dog. Watch the sunset into the world famous San Juan Islands. Our property is located on the scenic Chuckanut Drive. It is a 15 minute walk to Taylor United's Seafood Bar that has beer and wine. You will need boots just below the knee, or hiking shoes that will get wet. The Creek crossing is a little deeper this year. You will also be crossing a muddy area for about 20 yards, you will sink about 3 inches into the mud. The hike into the campsite takes 12 minutes. You need to contact me to check the tides, as to be able to get to the campsite. We need to hike in below a 5 foot tide. Starting October, the campsite closes for winter. Again , this campsite is Tide dependent. The first question to me should be, What is the latest we can hike in? I am not Moses, I can’t part the sea. Camp closed during winter October/ march

It's a real working farm: cattle, tractors, and the everyday sounds that come with them. Six grassy RV sites, each with its own fire ring and picnic table, plus two small stays, the Little Farmhouse and the Barn Cabin. Our Farmstead Market is on the farm: Wagyu beef, eggs, sausage and more. It's open Saturdays 10 to 4, and if you need something during your stay, just ask and we'll open it for you. A few things to know before you book: • Adults only on Hipcamp, 18 and up. It's a working farm, and kids, machinery and animals don't mix. • Fully self-contained RVs only. No tents, and no sleeping in vehicles. • Dogs are welcome at the RV sites (up to two per site). 2 nights at Grace E.’s Mini Forest Cabins

We stayed for 2 nights at cabin #3 with our 2 dogs. Words cannot describe what a wonderful time we had, we enjoyed the stay so much, and the dogs loved it! Communication was prompt , the cabin, outhouse and grounds so clean. It was very private, it felt like this was our little cabin in the woods! The mornings were chilly so we put on the gas fireplace and the cabin heated up very quickly. We have stayed here a few times now, and are already looking forward to the next time.

Weekend Trip to Valhalla Tree Farm

One of the coolest camping experiences you could ask for! The A-frame is unique, beautiful, and soooo well thought out! Staying here was a real treat and made everything easy! Im already missing the radiant heat of that wood stove! 10/10 will be back

Weekend Trip to Primitive ForRest Cabin

Beautiful simple cabin as described. Plenty of warm blankets provided, but recommend bringing warm clothes for a chilly morning. Woodstove heats up the place fairly quickly, bring some extra newspaper-wood is provided. Although some lights are available, having your own sources of light is helpful. We brought our windup string lights and headlamps and that was sufficient. The sauna set ups looked lovely, but did not have time to arrange as this was just a quick one night before taking the ferry to Victoria, BC. We enjoyed the cabin and found it be an affordable and charming option instead of the dingy chain hotels in Sequim and Port Angeles.

Weekend Trip to North Wind House: Historic Cascadia

Dog was very happy with the space! Even met the resident sheep. Host is very thorough with his walk through. Sadly the aesthetically pleasing record wall had to be removed due to there being so great of a collection (so good guests were stealing them) but overall we enjoyed our spot that faced away from the rest of the property and made us feel suited while overlooking the sunset.

3 nights at Moss Haven

We really enjoyed our stay at Moss Haven so much! Joe has created a really special place, nestled on a west-facing cliffside between cedars, hemlocks, firs, and birches. It's super cozy, with absolutely everything you need for a cabin camping trip--a coffeemaker with coffee, tea, and cocoa; plenty of cooking utensils, plates, forks, etc; firewood and a propane fire for burn ban times, plenty of water, a cozy bed with lots of soft pillows and a throw blanket, outdoor shower, and a beautiful view. All you really have to bring are clothes and food, and books to read. We enjoyed watching the light and the clouds change over the Olympic foothills and the bay, stargazing, and the bats! The hike down to the beach is very steep but worth the climb down and back up again--if not for the view and the pebble beach, definitely for snacking on oysters right at the shore. Bonus: there's a hammock to rest on before the climb back up! We really enjoyed our time here and feel rested and rejuvenated. We're already looking forward to returning again soon!

Weekend Trip to Clear Light Valley Retreat

Such a a wonderful stay- the cabin is absolutely gorgeous, the land is beautiful- we brought our dog & he loved being able to explore off leash. We took the trail down to the creek & it was beautiful. The wood stove, the giant windows & Mountain View were out of this world. DeAnn, her son & her grand-dog Freckie are the kindest, warmest hosts. Just a lovely experience & we hope to return!

Weekend Trip to Chuckanut Mountain Forest Retreat

This is such a special spot and we will absolutely be returning. We arrived in the evening and the seashells really help keep the pathway visible at night. The host provided us with a flashlight which was so thoughtful. We packed our items in backpacks which was the right move and the walk was quick and only mildly challenging. The space was INCREDIBLE and so magical. There were plenty of blankets and water and the composting toilet was very clean and well-stocked. Thank you for a beautiful weekend!

Right on a beautiful estuary, Saltgrass is such a special place. Everything you need, wonderful hosts, and amazing location!

I was one of those guests that keep changing my arrival time as things go sideways while traveling with a toddler from 1000s of miles away. Nancy kept in touch with us as we made the pilgramage to her fairytail of a location! The description and photos on her posting are what was there and my sister lives near by so we will be back!
