Overall I'm glad the Frog Pond rental was available at the last minute for my trip with my kids to the Port Angeles area, but there were a couple problems. First the good:
The space was warm and dry, had plenty of space for our family of 5, and had all the creature comforts necessary for eating, playing board games, etc. There's a working full size refrigerator, a pantry with some helpful extras that people leave behind (we used a couple things, we left a couple things), a working sink for washing dishes, and plenty of counter space. There's a private bedroom with a bunk bed and dresser, and a loft bedroom with a large bed. There's a small bathroom with a working sink and a toilet (you'll read about this in the "bad" section). Plenty of parking.
On the bad side: my kids will forever remember and won't stop talking about two things: ants and the toilet/bathroom.
There were little black sugar ants everywhere. On the floor, on the counters, on the couches, on the beds, upstairs, downstairs, everywhere. When we saw a few of them, we got into strict food discipline and kept everything sealed in bins or in the fridge to make sure we weren't leaving bait for them. But it was no use. The kids were afraid to sleep because ants were in their bed.
Composting toilet: pretty full (and stinky), hardly any of the composting material (wood shavings), and it leaked brown toilet juice, so the rugs were soaking it up and it stank. Kids stopped using it, forcing extra trips into town. Yikes
