Weekend Trip to Camp Cedar Creek

David’s land is beautiful and picturesque for camping. We originally had site 4 booked, but site 1 also opened up, and David showed us both sites and let us choose. We went with site 1 because it was right next to the creek (site 4 still has a nice overlook of the creek and is more separated from the other sites, if that’s your preference). All of the sights seem to have plenty of privacy. David was super nice and helpful. He even helped us unload and load our gear in his truck since site 1 was difficult to drive up to in a vehicle with low clearance. And again, site 1 rules. It’s fantastic. We can’t wait to come back.

Weekend Trip to Pastimes on Passage Creek Ranch

This is our second time joining camping at Eric's spot. We had 18 campers and we all had a great spot to lay out our tents. Eric had everything prepared including having bundles of wood waiting there for us making it super easy to set up and start the night. The port-a-potties are very clean and accessible. We love taking out the kayaks and boats on the lake as well as diving for a swim (you may want to watch out for the fish that like to take a nibble or two lol). Will definitely be coming back for our group camping next year

We booked this Hipcamp spot for a guys’ weekend trip, and it absolutely delivered. The site was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and laid-back stay. The grounds were beautiful—plenty of room to spread out, set up camp, and just relax around the fire pit after a day of hiking. There were several great trails just a short drive away, with killer views and solid elevation. Thanks again, Eric, for your hospitality. We’re looking forward to coming back!

Weekend Trip to Pastimes on Passage Creek Ranch

It freakin RAINED all night Friday til like 2am. Fortunately, most of us pulled an all-nighter. 😂 However, the next day was absolutely beautiful - sunny with some clouds, and the background with the mountains almost felt surreal. 2 and a half hour drive from Baltimore, but when we reached Fort Valley, the scenery was gorgeous. That alone was worth the drive. The camp site? Secluded, especially at night; complete silence. Loved it. We had camp site #1 and there was plenty of space and right by the river and pond. We caught a good amount of decent sized fish (catch & release). Eric and his pops stopped by with their ATV's and were extremely friendly and accommodating. No complaints. Just keep in mind that the bathrooms are located right behind the white wall that says "THE WALL". At night, I had to take a #2 really bad and couldn't walk, so I drove. And drove. And drove. I even went past the "residential side" for a moment. That's when my friend, with a flashlight signaled me towards the bathrooms by the white wall. I'm sure Eric listed instructions on how to find the bathroom, but I couldn't go back and see because there was no reception there. That's the only *issue*, no reception. Not really an issue, but you know what I mean.... Overall, extremely happy to have had the pleasure and privilege to rent out Eric's property. Would definitely rent it out again!

Weekend Trip to Shenandoah Valley MTN

This was exactly what we needed! We used to go camping/boondocking in Michigan all the time before we move to DC in spring of 2023. We took a bit of a hiatus, and now we wanted to go on a family camping trip with our 9 month old baby. We’ve had a hard time finding a campsite that was secluded and in the woods. We really don’t like public camp sites due to too many people be loud late at night. This campsite brought us back to our over landing and Boondocking phase!! The road to get up was a little treacherous, and I would definitely recommend a more sturdy vehicle. Our F150 had no problem, but I could’ve seen my Subaru outback getting stuck at certain points, especially the first 20 feet of the road. The site was super easy to find using Google maps. It was secluded and quiet. When we first arrived, it was a little buggy but a little bug spray and our Thermo cell worked just fine. Our dog had a fun time running around off leash but just be careful because we did find one tick. Our nine month old baby enjoyed playing in the dirt and watching the birds soar overhead. The stars were beautiful and it was exactly what we were looking for. I would definitely go back. V offered to drop off some wood for us, but we just stopped at a gas station 20 min up the road and got two packs of wood. V was communicative and nice!

3 nights at Happy Heart Highlands and Alpacas

Spent 3 nights at the Alpaca site. Had a great time. Set up about 6 feet from the fence line and had Alpaca TV my whole stay. Easy to get to Harpers Ferry. No sewer hookup but the KOA is very close and allows anyone to use their dump site for $20. Great communication from host Kim both before and during stay.

Weekend Trip to * The Farm *

Trevor was a great host, and we had an amazing time at this beautiful property by a serene river. The camping spot was fantastic, complete with a campfire. Tubing was a blast, offering the perfect way to cool off and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The scenery was gorgeous and peaceful. Additionally, there’s a winery nearby. I highly recommend this spot for a day of fun, nature, and relaxation! We highly recommend for anyone.

We loved car camping here! Great spot to spend the night before hiking old rag Came in and found a spot between two trees which was perfect for us to hang our hammocks on. We set up a nice area around the car and were able to drive over and bring some rocks back from the creek and some fire wood to set up a fire Having access to bathrooms and potable water was such a blessing. Lots of other campers around. The property was beautiful and being surrounded my mountains and horses was very joyful

This is my second time staying here and I loved it each time! A lot of fun activities to do with a group and/or solo at the site. Kayaking and paddle boarding are available as well as an easy nature hike with lots of nature to enjoy. Portapotties are well kept and stocked with essentials. Very clear view of the stars at night. Greg is very kind and helpful and has made each trip a success. Of course, Corky and Tula are the best cat-hosts as well! Will be back again!

Weekend Trip to Sacred Roots Herbal Sanctuary

We had a wonderful time Sacred Roots. The Cosmic Cottage was adorable and cozy. We appreciated the fire pit and thank the previous occupants for leaving behind the extra wood. Jay was responsive through the Hipcamp app and Hillary was warm and hospitable when we met her in person. We could really feel the love and care that goes into maintaining Sacred Roots and we’re excited to come back as soon and as often as possible.

Absolutely fantastic! Beautiful, peaceful, and all you would ever need is on site. We rented both the campsite and shelter. The view is amazing, there is a PortaJohn, solid places for tents, hammock, etc.

Overall, we enjoyed camping on Greg’s land. It was a a great space for our large group of 18 adults to gather. Pros: easy access to water/river, we were able to fish (didn’t catch anything), we had access to fire wood, fast communication, good directions to the land, Greg met us to answer questions. He was friendly. Cons: only one port-a-potty site near where wood is stored which is a very far walk from our campsite (especially in dark at night), the roadway to enter the property can use an upgrade (extremely steep with 2 huge holes -requires 4wd when wet), 5 large wolf dogs on the property were “walked” by owner in the morning and I witnessed them poop near our site (was not cleaned up), campsites are fairly close together (great if with family—not so great for spaces from other campers) Overall we enjoyed it. We visited crystal grottoes caverns and a local vineyard. The walking patch behind the property is pretty.

The recreational draw to this area is hard to beat in VA and this property has it all for an amazing outdoor weekend! The ranch consists of 40 acres of low-land pasture, groomed perfectly for camping groups large or small. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site offers the option to camp on our 5-acre lake or camp creekside in the Cedar Grove sites along the banks of Passage Creek. Creek access varies at each site depending on the bank. The Ceadar Grove sites are just a short walk to the lake and beach amenities. The property has 1/2mi of Passage Creek wrapping around all the campsites, as well as, the privet lake to enjoy. I have all kinds of boats to try out and the waters are stocked with Bass, Blue Gill, and Catfish. Please catch and release. Passage Creek is stocked with Rainbow, Brown, Tiger, and Brook Trout throughout the year. The prime waters are just a mile upstream from Pastimes on Passage Creek Ranch. The Creekside Cedar sites are located within a sparse, groomed, Cedar grove along the banks of Passage Creek. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups, as well as, travel trailers of all sizes up to off-road motorcoaches in site 1. There are no hookups, so It's just boondocking. Pack it in, Pack it out. Generators are allowed but please be aware of the other sites and direct the noise away. Groups of up to 25 people per site can realistically fit. Each site is very large with car camping space included. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, nestled between the mountains and the lake. It overlooks our 5-acre lake with mirror mountain views in the background. This site also has its own dock and is just a short walk down a mowed trail to a beautiful section of Passage Creek. An additional seasonal mountain stream can cascade behind the site and run under it to feed the lake when the conditions are right. The road can accommodate bumper pulls up to about 35ft to make the turn at the site. However, it is best suited for lighter traffic and smaller tent groups. At higher capacity, single-file parking is needed along the lake road. Max 10 people in order to keep some grass on the ground. Please, if you need more space - go to one of the Cedar Grove sites. Locally, the North end of Fort Valley offers many great hiking trails, trout fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, and the Elizabeth Furnace day-use park. Taskers Gap OHV/ATV park is a short drive south, and the valley is sandwiched between both forks of the Shenandoah River for those looking to paddle. Additionally, the local towns (Front Royal, Strasburg, Woodstock) offer their own charm and wide range of activities and attractions.

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING... 30 acres of mostly reclaimed farmland. We are located where Glade Creek flows into the Monocacy River. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support! The Byrd's Nest on the River

~ Voted West Virginia's No. 1 HIPCAMP, three years in a row!! ~ The Byrd's Nest is a river front, primitive campsite on the scenic Cacapon River in Great Cacapon, WV. The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :) This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out. There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :) *Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable. Red Maple Campsite: Red Maple Campsite is a large luxury private site that includes potable water and electricity on site, designed for a maximum 10 guests with on-site parking space that is 90ft long and 20ft wide, for an RV or 6-8 cars and overflow parking for several more cars. It is designed to be backed into with an RV and then pulled out of. This site can handle several tents and has two 6-foot picnic tables, two portable toilets, a scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, benches, a charcoal grill, and on-site string lights. Aspen RV Campsite: Aspen RV Campsite is a medium private luxury drive through site great for RVs, rooftop tents, pop ups or camper vans. This site includes potable water and electricity on site, designed with water and electric hookups for a single camping vehicle, maximum 6 people. This site is a drive through site, so guests don’t have to back in or out. This site also has a 10-foot picnic table, portable toilet, scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, charcoal grill, and a bench.
