Kitchen Camp
We came in late and left early, so didn’t get to spend any time exploring, but had a lovely peaceful night. The kitchen pavilion was great, lovely not to need to bring a tarp with rain threatening, and if we come back our children will love the little playground structure.

Susan’s land is a great place to get outside! There’s plenty of room on site as well as a clean composting toilet. We went into Shenandoah NP which was about 30 minutes from the site. Two very sweet dogs greeted us and said goodbye when we left! They provided a good amount of fire wood and there’s also a trashcan on site.

Road was good for a minivan but a low sports car I might be careful. Firewood supplied was very good addition. Pavilion has power and was handy although we had planned for not having power anyway. Just was friendly and saw him for firewood and questions shortly after we were there and didn’t need anything after. Booked primarily for location near skyline drive and was great for it. There is plenty of services in front royal and not far from there. Cute dogs visited. Would use again.

We had an absolute blast at Kitchen Camp at Piedmont farm. The grounds were well maintained and perfect for tent camping and cooking. We had 3 kids under 6 and they loved running around and going on the playset. Stargazing at night was phenomenal as well.
For our kids, we brought a portable toddler potty as the composting toilet might be a bit daunting for little ones. Also would recommend connecting with the hosts ahead of the trip so that there is firewood ready if you intend to cook or do a campfire. Definitely bring your own charcoal if you're using the kitchen grill. Also, likely due to a very dry fall, the sink had a pretty slow trickle of water. Definitely need to pack in your own potable water. We used about 3 gallons for our crew for one night stay.
Road Access to the site is a little rugged. My minivan did just fine, but could see it being more challenging if there is rain or mud.
Overall a fantastic time, will definitely be back again soon!!

Looking for backwoods, primitive camping this fits the bill. No one met us, no one responded to text messages or phone call. A tad pricey for no amenities. “Toilet available “ is a tricky way of wording it without saying pit toilet. Just be honest
