Wolftrap Farm was owned by James & Dolley Madison during their time, and they called it Black Meadow. Their home, Montpelier, is just across the mountains you see from the campsite. It passed through the hands of various local farmers during the 19th & 20th centuries, and for many years was a dairy farm. It became primarily a horse farm in the 1970's, when it was owned by the German Von Wulffen family.The Cuthrell family from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area acquired the farm in 2003 and converted it to a resort farm, featuring upscale vacation homes. Beginning around 2013, the farm started morphing into primarily a wedding venue, and now hosts over 60 weddings each year.

116 acres of forrest, hills and dells. Miles of hiking trails marked and well maintained. A small pond and beautiful labyrinth. Over 50 acres of deep wilderness woods. General Lee and his troops once camped here. But they cleaned up pretty good, so all you can really see is the old spring and wagon road. This is a working herb and small fruit farm. We have been experimenting with all kinds of exotic herbs and trees. Some make it, many don't. We sell dried herb teas. In addition we have 5 different kinds of bamboo. We use the bamboo for so many things.
Camptown is our largest site. It features a large fire pit and a circular field that can accomodate 10 to 15 or more tents. You can also park smaller camper vans, teardrops, etc. in this large area. Good for parties, family reunions.
The "# person" per site listing considers adults, not children... bring a whole crew of kids (try to have enough supervision - if there is such a concept!) The kids have such a great time out here... it is amazing. They love the labyrinth! By the way, that labryinth entrance is behind the kiosk. It's the largest of it's kind in North America.
It seems like we made this place for the kids in ourselves and when actual kids see it they go wild. The last bunch were running and yelping with their picked flowers all round and round in the labyrinth for hours!
Also, if you want peace and quiet we have beautiful remote campsites away from all the kids running around the labryinth whooping it up. (sites 4 - 6 - 8 - 9 - 10)

There are some fish in the pond, but it is catch and release. Fenced dog park and playground located behind the tasting room. Located conveniently between Richmond and Charlottesville only 3 miles off I-64 but feels like the secluded countryside. At days end you can go to concerts or “clubbing” in town or return to Billyville and enjoy the quiet, peaceful ambiance of a campfire under a starlit sky.
Check-Ins and Arrival Instructions:
Check-ins on weekdays are dependent on my work schedule. If this is your first time at Billyville, I need to be on property to guide you into your site. Please reach out before your stay so we can coordinate. If I am off on that day, check-in is after 1pm. If I am working, it will be after 5pm and occasionally after 7. I am currently testing out some procedures to allow self check-in. We'll see how that pans out.
Anyway, to get to Billyville:
Turn onto Bells Lane. (Dirt Road). You'll see a white fence on your left down the lane about .2 miles. Just after the fence, you'll see a red sign at the beginning of a rope fence. Turn off Bells Lane just after the sign and follow the fence, keeping it on you left.

This is an active 55-acre horse farm. About 2/3rds of the property is developed with barns and fenced pastures and the other third is largely undeveloped areas with a loop driveway where most of the camp sites are located. There is a large white house at the far end of the property. The restroom for campers to use is located there. To one side of the driveway, on the way to the house there is a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo.
The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

Only 15 minutes from the Swift Run Gap Entrance to the Shenandoah National Park our farm has a mountain feel.
Our 17 acre slice of heaven is tucked back off the county road and up against the little chapman mountain. Large white oaks and Tulip Poplar trees are the main attraction along with the Mayapples in spring and the fall colors are terrific.
The campsites are in the woods and around the field a good distance away from the house. There are walking trails and a pond and a hammock for relaxing, close to great hiking, summits and waterfalls, 50 minutes to Old Rag. Many local wineries to discover and many historical sites including Montpelier and Monticello and Charlottesville and UVA.
Come on the 3rd Saturday to see Tom perform on his banjo at the local Farmers Market.

Firewood is available on-site for purchase from a local friend (cash or Venmo), making it easy to enjoy a campfire during your stay. Please note that parties or additional unregistered guests are not permitted under any circumstances. You will be immediately asked to leave and additional fines will apply.
The property is shaped by two beautiful waterways—the Robinson River and White Oak Run—which meet nearby and create a peaceful, ever-changing landscape. Fishing is allowed with a valid Virginia fishing license; you may have better luck exploring upstream or downstream, as water depth near the sites is often around 2–3 feet.
Wildlife is abundant here, making it a great place for birdwatching, photography, or simply observing nature. Hunting is not permitted, helping preserve a safe environment for the animals that call this land home.
Kayaking is best in the spring when water levels average at least 2.75 feet. During drier summer months, the river becomes shallow <1', especially near the campsites.

This place is fantastic. From the personal toilets to the wonderfully clean lake, Jud has created a beautiful camp experience for everyone. The adorable tents are roomy and clean. The goats and dogs are friendly and cute. Jud is such a great host and has so much kindness in his heart. He is more than happy to give you advice on the best things to do while visiting the area and welcomes all kind of company. We have a great experience at site 3 on Graham’s land! The river access was the highlight - but it is a steep trek and if you want to be in the water you should bring water shoes. You’re able to buy wood at the front which is great. The site itself is a bit slanted, but workable. Theres a trash can and table on-site too. We loved seeing all the baby frogs! 🐸 Graham was very responsive and helpful.

Wisteria was an excellently kept camp site with everything we needed for a comfortable and fun car camping adventure. We particularly appreciated the dry firewood on-hand and the fire pit. The land was beautiful and very well maintained! The firewood on site was amazing and the river was the highlight of our trip! Very well secluded and the stars were bright! There were lots of bugs but we planned for it and with the bug nets it was perfect. Great weekend. Would definitely return!

Amazing experience. Great location near Old Rag Mtn and Cedar Run waterfall. Brewery across the street from entrance. Easy to get to. No cell service for 15 miles leading to campsite, which was a shock, but a good thing. Arrived, Jennifer hanging out at campfire at beginning of trails to camp sites. Short 0.3 mile hike to Fiddlehead campsite. Very secluded and couldn't hear any other campsites. Campsite setup with separate area for tent and separate area for toilet, both away from campfire and area with table and some kitchen supplies. Perfect setting near a small creek. Loved the animals. The wizard trail was a little disappointing but still a nice hike. Probably our own confusion, but we thought there was a lookout at top of hill. Would definitely come again. Also a perfect little store to pick up some extras. Grabbed some cheese, olives and some fresh okra to cook over the fire. Place is a hidden gem.

Me and my Bf had a not so good experience first time around because we got rained out, In early June ! Graham had made it up to us out of the kindness of his heart! We really appreciate the plot and look forward to renting other lots.
Set up 2 tents and went to the river. Very beautiful! Away from everyone ! They’re were an abundant amount of frogs ( which I loved ) .
We still ended up having to pack up in the rain but it was still a great time before that!
Downside: land is at a slant, red clay(muddy). Rocky.
