We have a small hobby farm with chickens, peacocks, and livestock guardian dogs (who bark at night). The rest of the property is wooded, with a 1/2 acre clearing great for tents and campers. 116 acres of forrest, hills and dells. Miles of hiking trails marked and well maintained. A small pond and beautiful labyrinth. Over 50 acres of deep wilderness woods. General Lee and his troops once camped here. But they cleaned up pretty good, so all you can really see is the old spring and wagon road. This is a working herb and small fruit farm. We have been experimenting with all kinds of exotic herbs and trees. Some make it, many don't. We sell dried herb teas. In addition we have 5 different kinds of bamboo. We use the bamboo for so many things. Camptown is our largest site. It features a large fire pit and a circular field that can accomodate 10 to 15 or more tents. You can also park smaller camper vans, teardrops, etc. in this large area. Good for parties, family reunions. The "# person" per site listing considers adults, not children... bring a whole crew of kids (try to have enough supervision - if there is such a concept!) The kids have such a great time out here... it is amazing. They love the labyrinth! By the way, that labryinth entrance is behind the kiosk. It's the largest of it's kind in North America. It seems like we made this place for the kids in ourselves and when actual kids see it they go wild. The last bunch were running and yelping with their picked flowers all round and round in the labyrinth for hours! Also, if you want peace and quiet we have beautiful remote campsites away from all the kids running around the labryinth whooping it up. (sites 4 - 6 - 8 - 9 - 10)

Had an excellent weekend at Ben's. Ben was super welcoming, the site was wonderful, and the add-on amenities were a boon that saved me time, effort, and space in the vehicle. We spent the nights stargazing and most of the day on the water fishing. As we packed up on our final morning we were awed by a bald eagle hunting on the water and calling out. Highly recommend.

Great first time Hipcamp experience. Location is lovely, amazing view of stars at night, quiet, close to hiking but also close to stores if you forget anything. The camp was well set up and having firewood and fresh eggs was handy! Easy and friendly communication with hosts.

This was my second time coming to Donald's campsite and exploring the trails on the property, so needless to say I love it here. The bamboo cave is so cozy and special, and I so appreciate the firewood and jug of water that Donald provides. Plus, Donald is super communicative, so if you have any issues you'll be taken care of. Also: -There's a trail map at each campsite, so you can explore the property while visiting. -Convenient drive to all kinds of weekend exploring, from Shenandoah, to Lake Anna, to Prince William National Forest and plenty of breweries in between. I will definitely be back!

We had a great time here! We tent camped, and added the canoe to fish. I caught 2 bluegills and 1 crappie on a rooster tail. Bass were being a bit picky. Felt a few bites on swim bait, though. The site was nice and quiet, our dog had a great time!

This was such a wonderful site snd the hosts were so amazing! The site itself has an excellent firepit lined with rock bricks, so it’s very blocked from the wind and safe. There’s also a grill, as ash bucket, a trash bucket, four benches and a table with four chairs. The area is so peaceful, you can’t hear any cars or roadways, and the large open area in the middle of the trees is perfect for star gazing:) The hosts themselves are very kind; Phil came to check on us and gave us great information about the local area. Then, when our car battery died, Phil came to jump it, no problem. Such a lifesaver! We would definitely come back to explore the nearby area and stay here again:)

Great spot next to a small lake fed by a small brook/stream. Host, Ben, was very hospitable - the perfect level of interaction (a nice welcome, advice on car/tent location, lay of the land) followed by an occasional drive-by (the spot is adjacent to the drive to his house which is not seen from the campsite).

We absolutely loved our stay at Victoria and Phil’s campsite. It felt very secluded despite being 10 minutes away from hiking trails, breweries, and wineries. The campsite was clean and well equipped with benches, a table, a fire pit, and a charcoal grill. The farm fresh eggs were delicious! We heard the dogs barking as mentioned in the site listing, but it sounded very far off and never bothered us. We will definitely be staying here again!

We had a wonderful stay at Ridge Crest Hollow and Lake! The site was beautiful and peaceful, and we especially enjoyed canoeing and kayaking on the serene lake. Our host, Ben, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. We also loved the little extras offered—like the farm fresh eggs, which were absolutely delicious. Such a perfect spot to relax and recharge—we can’t wait to come back!
