Close to Snowshoe Mountain, at only 1 mile drive from the entrance to Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
This is a great spot for mountain bikers and river lovers. So close to snowshoe and affordable makes this an easy decision. Also the wildlife, flowers, and river on the property make this a truly powerful place. There is some traffic and noise from the road but it quiets down through the night and all you can hear is the trickle of the stream.
We have a lovely 20 acre are that has easy to pull up to camp sites and some that take a short walk but are able to camp right near the river bed. We offer camping for all ranges of groups and travelers. We have campsites for tents, cars and vans, big RV's and Trailers, and then group sized sites. Please contact us and we can accommodate you in any size or style. We have cheap options for the solo and travelers on budgets and we have some nice options to get furnished tents and private fireplaces, with private river views and beach/play areas.

Alright y'all, kind of a long review here, but let me get ahead and say, the site was well taken care of with table and benches available along with a Adirondack chairs and a firepit. There is an awesome stream right next to the site and a short trail nearby with access to a swimming /watering hole. The owners of the property were incredibly welcoming and kind; and asked if I needed anything!
Bring a camera and tripod for milky way photography at night....without the moon, I could see EVERY STAR.
I would absolutely recommend going here if you want to detach from modern life. There is absolutely zero cellphone reception, so plan accordingly. (Download your driving directions!) This wonderful site gave me a chance to detach and catch up on a few books.
The owners are pet friendly, and allowed me to have my pup off leash, but she is well trained and was with me the whole time.
Ten out of ten, would recommend.

I had the place to myself and enjoyed staying cozy on the windy days. Was fun to watch prop planes fly low over the site. The walkability of this location is excellent. Just a very short walk to the path along the river. Keep going and reach exercise stations. A little further along, a wider park with trails and views. Playgrounds in several directions and plenty of places to walk the dog. Hosts are very friendly!

Amazing spot John was very welcoming the entire time we felt at home. There’s 250 acres of nothing but stunning views. There’s a ton of stuff to do right there skeet shooting a cute little putting green there are five ponds perfect for fishing. The little touches aren’t to be missed either the cute on site shower house with laundry *chefs kiss the bird houses the cute I assume from family named roads and alleys even a 55 miles according an hours sign…. If you’re looking for a place to get away and forget the world this is the place!!!! 10 out of 10 recommend

An AWD car with some clearance and good tires are definitely needed for some of the gravel inclines. My Mazda cx5 did just fine.

Spearmint Patch was a great little spot! We stayed during the fall and the foliage was beautiful. Our pups had an awesome time being able to be off leash. But hands down, you can’t beat the proximity of this campsite from the Seneca Rocks trails. Would definitely recommend to others interested in hitting the trail during their stay. The road did have more traffic than expected, but it seems like that was just the timing due to a project being done further up the roadway.

Cranberry River Sites
Cranberry River dispersed camping along Forest Road 76 offers quiet, scenic, riverside primitive campsites with excellent fishing and easy access to the surrounding wilderness. We stayed a couple of nights at Site 8 and had great river access with only a small amount of road traffic. There were campers at about five other sites during our stay, but it still felt peaceful and spread out. With inexpensive sites spaced along roughly five miles of road, this is a great area to camp. Roads like this in West Virginia are home to some of my favorite campsites, and we will definitely be back.

Summit Lake Campground
Summit Lake Campground is a quiet, clean campground in the Monongahela National Forest. I stayed one night and really enjoyed the fishing on the lake. The campground wasn’t busy, the sites were well maintained, and it was a relaxing place to spend the night surrounded by nature.

We stayed at Cranberry Campground for one night and really enjoyed how quiet and peaceful it was. There were only a couple of other campers in the campground, and we were able to get a site in the back away from them, which made it feel like we had the place to ourselves. The campground is spacious, well kept, and surrounded by forest, making it a great spot to relax and unwind. If you’re looking for a quiet National Forest campground with plenty of room and a secluded feel, this is a great place to stay.

We stayed at Bishop Knob Campground for two nights in July and absolutely loved it. During our entire stay there was only one other camper, which made the campground feel quiet, peaceful, and almost private. Even better, the sites were only $8 a night, making this an incredible value for a national forest campground.
We stayed in the last site on the loop Site 33, which looks to be the old camp host site. It’s a great spot with flowers and plants planted around the site entrance, and the wooded area behind the site has been cleared out, giving it a more open and usable feel than many of the other sites.
One really interesting feature of this campground is that the second loop appears to have been closed for years. You can still walk through the old loop, and it was neat to see the overgrown sites and roads slowly being reclaimed by the forest. It adds to the sense that this campground doesn’t get a lot of use.
We walked around and checked the site tags left behind in the open loop, and many of them were dated several months earlier, which really shows how lightly used this campground is. If you’re looking for a quiet, uncrowded, back-to-nature camping experience in the Monongahela National Forest, Bishop Knob is a great place to stay. We would absolutely camp here again.

Dolly Sods is magical. The Red Creek campground is a convenient place to spend the night before starting an early morning backpacking trip. The campground contains several secluded and well vegetated sites but they are first come first serve. Site 1 is very exposed. We were baking in the July afternoon sun but were grateful to have snagged the last site on a holiday weekend. In the summer the days are warm but the nights are cold due to the higher elevation. There are an endless number of trails available in the Dolly Sods area.

Spruce Knob Lake Campground is an absolute hidden gem. If you're looking for remote and beautiful camping and hiking, this is an amazing place. We stayed in one of the 'walk-in' campsites, and there were no other campers within eyeshot. We took the Seneca Creek trail and it was achingly beautiful with mysterious shady groves of evergreens interspersed with fields of spring wildflowers and waterfalls. Will definitely return. This is also a great place for fishing enthusiasts, since the lake and streams are well-stocked by the state with trout and other species.

This campground was showcased in National Geographic Adventure magazine prior to its demise over 10+ years ago. This campground allows you to detach from the grid and also from the glampers. What this campground offers is tubing the South Shenandoah River which goes around the campground. The facilities are top notched with all running water bathrooms and individual showers. Great family camping!!!!!!

There's a nice path from the #70's tent sites straight down to the general store which are convenient, as well they sell and deliver firewood via the golf carts

You want primitive camping? You've got it! All of the sites are very spaciious with plenty of room between the sites. Make sure you put your cooler away (we pushed outs under the camper) because bears will try to get in them and who wants to replace a good cooler? Make sure you have plenty of jugs or water totes because you'll need to pump water from the well. Don't use the outhouses. You'll never forget the smell. I've found ferns to be quite entertaining when needing a squat.
