The Retreat Cabin
Loved staying at Ed's Retreat Cabin. My family and I had a wonderful time exploring, kayaking on the pond, fishing, and sitting around the campfire. The cabin had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Core memories were definitely made!

Upon entering the first gate I really like the open horse field. After that it was really cool to cross the stream and drive up to where the Cabin itself is located. We loved how small the Cabin was while also having everything you could need. We also enjoyed walking out on the back deck every morning and seeing the pond. One morning it rained and the sounds were beautiful. The bunk beds and couch were super comfy for sleeping each night. Will definitely be back to enjoy the peaceful, relaxing, quiet vibe of the place.

Fern Grove Campsite
Fern Grove was a nice place to tent camp. But be prepared for some mud. I know it’s not muddy all year but in August it definitely is. We have camped at quite a few places with Hipcamp and this one had the nicest bathroom of any of them! The on demand hot water was great and so was the real toilet! I like its proximity to the Seneca Rocks/ Spruce Knob area. The lake at the site was cool and the kids liked going out in the boats.

The Retreat Cabin
Outstanding outdoor space for fires and gathering, we cooked every night on the fire with the provided grill.
The area was peaceful, and a great spot for our first time camping with out son and bird!

The place is AMAZING (with capital letters) my family and I we had a great time! Everything was well detailed on the welcoming package but still Ed communicated to make sure it was all clear. If you want to spend some quality vacation, this is the place!

We really enjoyed our stay at Ed's Mt retreat, our kids and our dog loved the pond with a dock and a floating raft for swimming and boating . Ed's cabin was well stocked and very comfortable for example full kitchen and air conditioning. The Wi Fi was much appreciated to stay in touch with family members that stayed at home and a workaholic husband that needed to put in a few hrs of work. The location of the cabin was super quiet as the property is set back from the main road. Can't wait to visit again.

Ed is great! When my daughter and I arrived, we were unable to make it to our site because the stream was very high. We ended up setting up camp in a field and stayed 3 nights. We loved it! We did make it across the stream to see the site and ponds, etc, and everything was beautiful. Highly recommended!

Very beautiful spot with awesome hiking trails and fishing. Everything at the cabin was cozy and comfortable- you can tell Ed put a lot of love and hard work into the cabins and property! 10/10 recommend

This cabin was exactly what I was looking for to take a 3-day writer's retreat, and Ed was the consummate host.
I got a solid amount of work done on my first book, and also got to get in a little fishing here and there. The cabin was fully equipped with all the amenities you could want, including a full-sized air fryer!
I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a little privacy and chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I had such a wonderful and peaceful week at the cabin. Ed has obviously put a lot of work and care into his land to create the perfect nature retreat experience with comfortable amenities. There are plenty of trails to explore, water to cool off in, plants and animals to observe, and books to read. Everything I could have asked for. I would love to come back for another relaxing stay!

Ed was an amazing host and the place was incredible too! It is on a large plot of land and is very relaxing. We even had the pleasure of having Ed on site the first night and got to learn more about the land. The pond and the trails were very relaxing as well.
Overall 10/10 experience, we would definitely stay here again

Really lovely green space! Safe, private, well supplied. A quiet and peaceful area, very out of the way. No traffic, cool mountain air, frogsong, and deer spotting. Great communication from Ed and we enjoyed meeting his lovely wife and son!
We stayed in the campsite, but there are also cabins available. A communal pavilion in the middle of the cabins has wifi and a hammock. There were multiple well built firepits, and plenty of firewood for sale.
The well water was spectacular. We enjoyed walking some of the little paths around the property. Stunning ferns and a little pond for swimming and boating. A bathouse with a toilet, sink, and shower was available for our use.
There was no hot water in the bathhouse, but that was being fixed and not really a problem.
You do have to drive through water to get into the main area. If you're driving a truck, nbd, if you have a car you may want to park in the field by the gate.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mountain Top. It was peaceful, beautiful, and not too hot. We made some good memories swimming and using the kayaks on the lower pond, looking for crawdads in the creek, and roasting s’mores over the fire pit. The cabin was comfortable and it was nice to have all the amenities. I hope we will be able to return in the future.

Mountaintop Cabin was amazing! The cabin is small but very comfortable. It is well equipped, we had everything we needed. I had no cellphone service with AT&T. Zero. But connected to WiFi and was perfectly content. WiFi is fast, I was able to do some work and stream Netflix. The grounds are well manicured and well marked. We walked through the trails and made our way up some big hills. Very beautiful area. I would come in the daytime, as navigating the route through the National Forest may be challenging at night. I did not explore the larger area around the cabin at all, so I don’t know if there is a town or anything nearby. I brought everything I needed and stayed right there. Great time. Myself, my 6 year old, and my dog loved it and hope to return.

Nice quaint cabin and property perfect for a weekend getaway. The host was great, and you have everything you need to go off the grid. Definitely worth the stay, nice hiking around the property and time for camp fires and fishing.

My kids loved hanging out at Mountain Top this last weekend and are already asking when we can go back as it is one of our new favorite getaways! The place is serene and the kids loved playing in the pond and nearby creek. The cabin itself had just about everything you would need for a weekend getaway- Ed is a gracious host and is extremely prompt at responding to any questions, etc, that you may have.

Had a great time in this cool little cabin in the mountains. My wife, kids, and dogs had space to sleep thanks to the bunk beds, and relax thanks to the back deck being enclosed so the pups can come and go. My son loved fishing off the back desk, and the trails were nicely cleared. All that with a fire pit, stocked kitchen, and WiFi to stream movies, what else could you ask for. Thanks Ed for your help and quick answers to any questions I had. See you next time.

It's a beautiful setting and it helped our family feel close to nature for a weekend getaway. My daughters had a blast exploring the property and the woods, swimming in the pond, and roasting marshmallows. It's a great location for star gazing as well, and we had a strange combination of lighting strikes off in the distance while the sky above was quite clear enough to see the milky way. Ed is a great host - very responsive and obviously cares about the experience of his guests. One last little plus is the cabin is very well stocked.
