A great place for children, I have swings and trees to climb, games, archaeological digs, scavenger hunts finding 10 different antique farm implements, and learning how they were used, to learning about mini microbe's and how to be friends with pollinators.

Welcome to Slatki Dom (“Sweet Home” in Bosnian), our beautiful retreat in the woods.
Our land abuts a hiking trail on the side of Spruce Mountain, and we are about ¼ mile from the trailhead to the Spruce Mountain Trail and L.R. Jones State Forest, the oldest state forest in Vermont. Cross-country skiing trails are nearby, and ski resorts are 40 minutes to an hour away. Ten minutes down the road is the quaint Plainfield Village, with a small pizza shop, used bookstore, café, and gas station.
Five minutes farther is Fox Market and Bar, along with the River Oddities shop. A twenty-minute drive from the cabin brings you to the cities of Montpelier or Barre, which host a variety of museums, parks, local stores, restaurants, and a few larger chains and grocery stores.
At night, the futon folds into a double bed that comfortably sleeps two. There are lamps upstairs and downstairs, as well as plenty of outlets to charge your devices for the next day’s adventures.
Accessibility Notes:
Parking is available for two cars. There is a 500-foot walking path through the woods to the cabin. The cabin is not ADA accessible and has a set of steep stairs— not quite a ladder, but steep!

Our family began restoring the farmhouse as well as beginning a small regenerative farming operation in 2022.

Freya an Luna are the Great Pyrenees' about the farm. They protect the flocks from predators. They are working dogs and have access to the entire property. For this-and other reasons, we discourage bringing pets to the farm.
A sweet brook meanders through the property which all sites have access to as well as stunning views of bald mountain.
Lovely farm views throughout the seasons. Multiple trails for exploring can be found on and off farm. Trail heads to multiple mountains are within a few minutes of campsites.
Lake Willoughby is a short 4 miles away, 7 miles to Island Pond, as well as endless hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing and more.

There is a Beige garage in front of the camp with three raised beds for vegetables and flowers. The property faces out towards a nearby pond with a beaver hut. Nestled behind the camp on either side of the brook are two decks. The 10 x 10 deck on the left has a popup tent with screens or sides. It is the guest lounge area surrounded by maple trees. Inside is a patio set with two love seats. Nearby the entrance there is a wood fire pit with firewood. On a landing on the other side of the brook is a 10x20 deck with the 10x12 canvas wall tent.
There is an indoor kitchen provided. It has a two burner gas stove, gas fridge, microwave, blender, and coffee pot. There is tea and coffee. The kitchen runs off a solar power charger and panels. On the front lawn behind the barrier wall is BBQ grill, a glass patio table with four chairs and a propane fire pit. There is gravity fed water from the brook for cleaning dishes and the outdoor shower. The outdoor enclosed compost toilet is by the kitchen door.
There is a marked walking trail to an overlook on the ridge where a Sacred Native Medicine Wheel and bench is located.
Woodbury is known as the land of lakes and ponds with more than 23 total. This is more than any other Vermont town. It is 2 miles from Lake Woodbury and Greenwood Lake. The 93 mile Lamoille Valley Rail Trailhead goes through Hardwick. It is ideal for cycling or walking. It is stunningly beautiful north of Fisher Covered Railroad Bridge by the Lamoille River.
The owner, Randy is a certified massage therapist offering Swedish or deep tissue massage. He specializes in (MFR) Myofascial Release. cheese, or homemade breads, all from Cabot. Contra Dance, music from Cabot Arts, or at the Den our local pub, are 2 miles away. The Bread and Puppet, Highland Center for the Arts, Barre Oprah house, art galleries, etc within an hour
drive in any direction.
A great place for children, I have swings and trees to climb, games, archaeological digs, scavenger hunts finding 10 different antique farm implements, and learning how they were used, to learning about mini microbe's and how to be friends with pollinators.

Our land abuts a hiking trail on the side of Spruce Mountain, and we are about ¼ mile from the trailhead to the Spruce Mountain Trail and L.R. Jones State Forest, the oldest state forest in Vermont. Cross-country skiing trails are nearby, and ski resorts are 40 minutes to an hour away. Ten minutes down the road is the quaint Plainfield Village, with a small pizza shop, used bookstore, café, and gas station.
Five minutes farther is Fox Market and Bar, along with the River Oddities shop. A twenty-minute drive from the cabin brings you to the cities of Montpelier or Barre, which host a variety of museums, parks, local stores, restaurants, and a few larger chains and grocery stores.
At night, the futon folds into a double bed that comfortably sleeps two. There are lamps upstairs and downstairs, as well as plenty of outlets to charge your devices for the next day’s adventures.

Parking is available for two cars. There is a 500-foot walking path through the woods to the cabin. The cabin is not ADA accessible and has a set of steep stairs— not quite a ladder, but steep!

There is a marked walking trail to an overlook on the ridge where a Sacred Native Medicine Wheel and bench is located.
Woodbury is known as the land of lakes and ponds with more than 23 total. This is more than any other Vermont town. It is 2 miles from Lake Woodbury and Greenwood Lake. The 93 mile Lamoille Valley Rail Trailhead goes through Hardwick. It is ideal for cycling or walking. It is stunningly beautiful north of Fisher Covered Railroad Bridge by the Lamoille River.

We had such a great time at the yurt and exploring the property with our two dogs! Morgan did a great job of showing us everything we needed to know for our stay. The yurt itself is absolutely beautiful and truly makes you feel like you’re sleeping in nature. The location that they chose to build the yurt provides an amazing view of the mountains right out the front window. We opted to use the wood-fired hot tub while we were there and it was a fantastic experience. Although the wood stove was out of commission during our stay, the space heaters that were provided were more than enough to keep the yurt toasty, even during the cold late November nights. We would gladly come back again!

I enjoyed my stay at the Burke Backyard Bell Tent! I met Deste briefly and she was friendly. The town of East Burke is only a few minutes away and there was super easy access to lots of incredible mountain biking. While you have to walk from the driveway past the house to get to the tent, once you are there it feels pretty private and spacious. It was clean and there were some cute solar lights. The only thing I would improve is the bathroom situation, which is a pretty simple Boxio set up which I didn't find the most comfortable.

The property here was amazing to be at. I was part of a 4.person group bikepacking through Vermont and came across this as an option for reprieve during a to be rainy night. The main lodge was very homey, communal, and clean. A huge kitchen and plenty of seating/hang out area for folks to catch up and chat. Honestly we would have loved to stay longer and get to know even more about the place as it seemed to have some good history and current operations to it.

It was a really nice place to discover in the beautiful little town of Burke. We've been there in the middle of a bikepacking trip and the place was perfect. A big wooden base with a huge bell tent on it.
We really appreciated the jug of water and the composting toilet, plus a table with two chairs. The place was so quiet, in a huge backyard in a field, surrounding by woods. There's a fireplace with chairs also and the wood is included.
I would recommend this place for everyone who want to stay in Burke and have an amazing stay !

This was the perfect stay as we made our way through the state. I really appreciated the level of detail our host gave us on the walk through also. The space is Amazing! 100% the comfiest I have Ever been when camping too. Not having to pack a tent or anything of the sort really helped with the pack list too and I would 100% recommend to others. Wish we had been able to stay longer to try out the sauna. 💖 Having a kitchen was a total win also. Being able to cook up our dinner quickly was wonderful since we got in around 6pm.

Weekend Trip to Broadfork Farmstead
I really enjoyed staying on the bus—it was such a unique experience! I was grateful it was available for a last-minute booking that same night.
Carol’s communication and responsiveness were excellent, making check-in smooth even with my late-night arrival.
The bus itself was cozy and charming, set right on the farm with a clean outhouse just steps away, equipped with a motion light for nighttime use. Inside, the space was thoughtfully arranged with a small table, chairs, two sofa beds, and foldable mattresses. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and each window had blinds to block out light.
It was a cold night, but I came prepared with sleeping bags, extra blankets, and heating pads. Carol also offers a space heater as an add-on, which I’d recommend during cooler seasons!
A pleasant surprise was the power bar which was so useful for charging my devices and the bus also had reliable Wi-Fi!
I only stayed one night but wish I’d had more time to explore the farm, there were adorable animals on my way out! I also wish I’d tried the breakfast add-ons as they looked delicious.
Overall, it was a memorable stay that I’d definitely recommend. I got to tell all my friends that I slept on a bus and had a great story to tell!

1 night at Mead Hill at Mount Cabot Maple
Amazing views on this wonderful property. The land was quiet and peaceful and the yurt was very comfortable. Morgan was awesome and gave us some great local recommendations. We would love to stay here again if we are ever in area.

2 nights at Broadfork Farmstead
I had a wonderful two night stay on The Bus. My friend joined me the first night, but had to get back to work, so my second night was solo. We both found the accommodation funky and comfortable. As a farm girl, myself, I always love to be around piglets, chickens, dogs, cows… Carol was a very warm, gracious hostess, eager to share her insights on local attractions. Her breakfasts and cheese plate displayed impressive attention to detail, using superb local ingredients and so artfully arranged, include cloth napkins tucked into baskets. I hope I am able to return next year, and have already recommended her place and the area to friends looking for a satisfying roaming destination.
